Immigration Museum reviews
34Fantastic exhibitions. So much to see. Definitely returning again soon. Highly recommended. It's not what you'd expect
Loved the "Love" show on at this gallery. The next floor up was just as great reading and viewing the history on immigration in our country. Thank you to all volunteers.
Interesting & varied displays on immigration in Victoria. The "Perseverance" exhibit on Japanese tattoo culture was very well put together & highly recommended, runs until October.
A great educational and inspiring place! I’ve been to “Identity: yours, mine, ours ” exhibition in Level 2 and it was truly creative in approaching the whole identity issue through the lens of personal stories and an informative review of Australia’s history and its struggle with identity!
The museum also hosts an exhibition about Ramadan - the holy month for Muslim! I found it educational and beautiful!
Good location close to public transport, beautiful art displays and comfortable cafe with lovely staff.
Interesting exhibitions. Perfect for school excursions. Entry to the special exhibitions is free if you have a student card.
The museum is very nice. However it felt that there is a lot of reading and less real historical stuff. Nevertheless, a lot can be learn about Australian immigration.
Great museum, but surprisingly unaccommodating and uptight staff. I have brought groups here from time to time and they are very strict if you don't have a booking.
This is a great museum to appreciate the past and modern history of emigration. Very spacious with many historical displays. Worth a visit
Needs a restroom! People are waiting plus a small restaurant next to it and will no restroom. Ughhh
The building itself is a history previously used as a Custom house. I'm overwhelmed by the love of the "Love" exhibition. The unique way of fabrication of culture and diversity, and how today's Australia become a hotspot of multiculturalism defying racism, discrimination and violence againt humanity, especially emphasising victorian immirants. The photographs displaying telling the story of million of migrants those are welcomed friendly by Australia. A magnificient place for young adults, kids to to about the past. Great staffs ready to help you. You will be welcomed by a film waving or smiling, or making some body languages or gestures reflecting the cultural diversity, hope, despair, optimism.
This is a must place to visit, in my opinion. Check the website for upcoming exhibitions. Free entry for students.
Fascinating. Went to see the tattoo exhibitions currently showing - combining stunning photography, insightful video and text. Then explored the other exhibitions looking at the history of immigration and identity. Enlightening and stimulating.
One of a kind museum which celebrates diversity and weaves a multicultural fabric that makes up Australia. The building is also an architectural gem, used to be the Customs House, which is has been positively reused for a significant purpose.
Incredible place to visit! They've put a lot of effort into curating this. Really interesting information and exhibits. Not too busy unless you get a school group coming through. Some great interactive pieces.
Multiple levels, but elevator if you can't take stairs. Such a beautiful old building. Recommend to visit, especially if you have a concession card and can get in for free.
