What a great Italian restaurant. One of the most traditional Italian meals I have ever had and it is in Torquay! Their pizza will hold up to any in Melbourne and all the pasta dishes we had were just like my Nonna’s. Looking forward to visiting again
The only negative was that we dined in a side room that had about 6 tables and the atmosphere in there was pretty lacklustre. Would’ve been great to be dining in the main dining area.

Kitchen open till 10! Wonderful service and delicious food. Lime margaritas are perfect! Will certainly go again.

Simply the best Italian dinner we've ever had, Yes we've had a few, the Bruschetta starter is fantastic, the pasta dishes then just melt in your mouth

Food and wine was very good.felt rushed by the maitre de, who was not very friendly altho the bartender made up for this.

Very generous sizing in food portions.

We went on Sunday around 5pm to have an early dinner. There were less than 10 customers in the restaurant. The waiter was much focused on putting the chairs in the right place instead of looking after us. We wanted to order desserts but after watching our finished plates for 15 min and trying to get in touch with the waiter, we finally gave up, paid and left. Otherwise, the food and the drinks we had were nice. I just expect better service in a "restaurant".

I had an incredible experience with this food! Their products/services exceeded my expectations, and the customer service was exceptional. Highly recommended!

We got takeaway tonight and the pesto gnocchi was very disappointing. It looked nothing like the picture on the website. The gnocchi tasted like it came from a packet and the pesto from a jar, definitely not freshly made in house. There was no goats cheese either. The other meals we ordered were not too bad.

Great pizza and very good service, good menu …. Food was very good quality all around. Breakfast was delicious. Like a good home style country savory breakfast (and Im from the south, that's saying a lot) … Enjoyed the whole experience and definitely recommend this place for

My all time favorite food is gnocchi with Authentic Italian taste and II Matto made this more favorite. Last Week I went with my family and I am really satisfied with the excellent atmosphere and of course the service guy's. We ordered a large size Delicious pizza and enjoyed the freshness of its salads and the unique flavor.
After two days, I placed an order for home delivery and it was quick with the same taste and the delivery man is known, recognized me and we got a decent chat. I highly recommend for the friends who are foodie.ummmm! Ommmm!

Authentic Italian cuisine served in a contemporary atmosphere. The service is pleasant, and the meal is delicious. The wait crew is Italian. Pizollo is the specialty, but everything is delicious. There is heated outside sitting. Come here every year and always good and service improving.

The place was so nice. Excellent Atmosphere. The food was so excellent. The people were so friendly. I recommended to come here.

Food was slightly underwhelming. Undercooked pasta coupled with high pricing. However, that's not to say the food wasn't above average. Just below its price point. The meatballs were amazing, sauce and pasta however draw my rating back.

Edit: I understand Il Matto's need to cater to paying their staff. However, they have failed to address the issue regarding the quality of the food. Which, again, does not seem to justify the price point.

Food was excellent, however service and credit card surcharge were not so.
Spending $800 dollars with you guys we expected a little more. We were served 4 beers towers… each one had Black scale come out of them all and when replaced with new ones we had the same issues. No price deduction was offered at checkout. Waiters were not apologetic about it and were quite arrogant the whole night.
Spending this amount of money the last thing we thought was an extra 13 dollars for a credit card surcharge which is quite appalling…. 30 cents surcharge at most.
Won’t be returning in a hurry.

Delicious food and great customer service. I think the prices displayed online were lower than in the restaurant, which was just a minor frustration. Overall a very good experience, but a little upmarket for me.

Previously been on multiple occasions and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately we recently attended and were extremely disappointed by what we were provided. My wife had the squid entree that consisted mainly of bread crumbs and barely any squid. I had the bolognaise lasagna, it was nice but not to the quality I previously enjoyed. My son had the pizza marinara and the cheese was not cooked and once again was not to previous quality we enjoyed. My son had three or four mouthfuls and refused to eat anymore. We informed the waiter of our concerns and he barely responded and came back later with a dessert (on the house). We were one of the first to arrive for dinner and most of the staff were chatting away in the background and didn’t bother to check on us. We previously loved the atmosphere the staff provided. When we paid for the meal the guy looked at me with total disdain We are so disappointed as we always loved visiting this place when we visited my parents in Torquay and now have to find a new favourite place. Must add that this place is not cheap.

Following on from disgraceful reply your sleezy male waiters were all over 3 women who come in while giving us no attention. This is not a family restaurant no more. Your place no longer serves quality food. We used to think this was the best Italian restaurant we had been to but your attitude and lack of patrons sums it up. So disappointing!

By the way my wife can’t get over horrible attitude and wanted to let you know she was the one who made the complaint on the night. I have given 5 stars to a number of places in Torquay. Your place doesn’t deserve one star.

Best Italian Restraunt I have ever been to.
Great food, great atmosphere, great night out.
Authentic Italian staff all communicating to each other in Italian yelling at each other, made the night even better.
We sat in the “U” shape seating near the kitchen and we could see the kitchen working and we could hear everything. Best seats. Made the night even better.
We ordered garlic cheese pizza for starters, they bought out with it a jar of chilli olive oil to drizzle over the pizza. It was perfection. That garlic cheese pizza was the best I have every had.
We kept seeing different meals coming out of the kitchen and they looked that good we kept ordering more and more food just so we could keep trying different dishes. I could not fault any of them.

The wood oven pizzas were absolutely delicious. We also ordered the 6 hour slow cooked beef pasta. I personally thought it was a bit dry, but my sister in law who has way better taste buds loved it. Marinara pasta was fantastic, and the calamari was made perfectly. Service was of the highest standard. Food was served fast too. Very enjoyable meal, and would definitely drop by again.
