Ichiban Japanese Restaurant - Teppanyaki Doncaster East, Melbourne

We just have a great night again at "Ichiban" with Cheff "Hang": Very skilled, friendly & entertained.

Also glad to see the great "Crazy John Lee" back

If you go there you have to get Hang to cook for you, his cooking skills are amazing and the sauces he makes, just the best.we r from the 5.45 session on 6th may 2021 Hang, We loved your work and definitely will come back only if we get to eat what you cook

Hang was absolutely amazing! We had a fantastic evening out with a group of friends and 5 children. Hang had us sit at one end so the kids could have their own special evening whilst the parents relaxed and conversed at the other. The food was beautiful, Hang would have you try the food before adding his sauces, the flavours afterwards were extraordinary. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all. Best experience ever!

The food was amazing, I was served by Chef Heng where he made the night a very enjoyable evening for me and my friends, I would highly recommend going. Heng was a great chef and allowed us to try the food before he added his special sauces to make the food somehow taste better

Awesome experience at Ichiban. Although we had a large group (11), we were very well looked after by the team. Service was great from the time we stepped in and was absolutely topped off by our great chef John who was very skilled, entertaining and accomodating to all in the group.
Great for kids too, they were definitely involved and felt part of the whole experience.
Food was fantastic, the prawns were full of flavour and the chicken and beef very tender and perfectly cooked.
Very enjoyable night had by all, will definitely be back.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Don't waste your money, even for groupon price was way too expensive for what you get. Tonight was very disappointing, first time experience and reading the reviews our experience does just not match up. Firstly, the service was average. We had to wait for a long time for the other people at the time with no apology or anything like that.

Beyond that we were on a set menu, and only after leaving the restaurant did we realise that we were not served several things that we paid for. This includes miso soup, appetizer and also hot drink. I feel cheated.

We were very excited for our tepenyaki experience only to be greeted by immeasurable disappointment. Our chef was rude, not engaging at all and kept rushing us, it felt like he just wanted to get it done and finished with.
He cooked everything very quickly and i was eating very quickly to keep up, the food was cold by the time we got to it as it was just sitting there.
Also, beyond the rushed food, average service, no entertainment, no authenticity food was average.

My ice cream was served while i was still eating my mains, CMON.what is that.

Fried rice was burnt to a crisp, careless chef.

I feel cheated, even wasting my time writing this review, i hardly ever do but this was just pathetic. Need to step up your game guys, i would never go back to this place.

First time I've been here and it was the best our chef John is an amazing very skilled chef and had me laughing all night the food here is super tasty and will leave your mouth salivating and wanting more it will fill the whole in your stomach if you were looking for a great place to go out I highly recommend you come to ichiban set in the heart of Doncaster East

Hang was great. Very friendly and made amazing sauce. Food was fantastic. I’ll be finding little bits of fried egg in my clothes for a while.

From the outside the venue is quite dated and in need of some TLC and upkeep of garden/grounds. We had a great night and the food was delicious although a bit overpriced for the size of meals.

10/10 would recommend, took my family here and was greeted with amazing and attentive service. Our teppenyaki chef Bryan was very entertaining and the food was tasty and skilfully prepared. The set menu was affordable and we were left feeling very stuffed. Will definitely be returning here again!

When we first pulled up we thought the place was an abandoned restaurant, they really need to tidy up the outside. Dinnerware was old and chipped, and the venue was very dark. The food however could not be faulted. Positively spectacular tastes and texture. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Recommended for a good meal, but not for anything corporate.

We had a nice time at Ichiban tonight, the chef was entertaining and the food was enjoyable.
The venue and carpark were a little run down when we visited, but if all you worry about is how good the food is I would recommend you give it a try.

It was an entertaining night with the chef playing with the food etc. Food was good but combinations of spices not so good. The chicken was xlnt but other items were missing my taste. All ingredients were very fresh. The chef was skilfully handling the food and the dishes were ok but just lacked a bit of adjustment of spices to make them better flavoured. We were full after all the food. Has toilets. Hard to find in the car park as it is behind the main building at the very back of the carpark. Go to end of carpark and turn left. Good entertaining night overall.

The chef was friendly and entertaining. However the food is average. Serve is slow and the wait staff didnt top up our water or asked if we want anothet drink.

Brian was sensational. Our family had a great time. The food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly. I highly recommend A+

Staff and Chef's were Amazing. Not to busy so we were very well attended too. Food was fantastic cooked to perfection as i have it very well done and my partner has it almost raw, so from seafood, shellfish, meat, rice and Dessert. ***** Stars

Staff were masterful and funny! Food was delicious and prepared with care, a warm intimate environment and attentive waiters made for an extremely memorable experience. Owners and staff were incredibly patient and hospitable with our huge group of people, and lots of kids! What an amazing night definitely recommend
