Hyakumi reviews
35I booked this Japanese restaurant for a change and it was lovely. The food was delicious, the staff attentive and the restaurant itself felt relaxing. We will definitely dine here again.
Reasonably priced, Entree Veg Tempura $11 very good, Beef & Veg Udon $18.50 perfect for cold winters day. Polite, attentive & quick service.
A bit overpriced for the serving sizes but sushi was extremely fresh even though it was late. Okonomiyaki was a bit too floury and not crispy enough.
Sashimi is so fresh and delicious.
Sizzling prawns are to die for.
The spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls are a must to try. Friendly staff.
The food is amazinngg! I come here all the time & i've been a regular since I was a child:) Hyakumi has by far the best japanese food in the local area for the price and the staff are always so lovely.
Very delicious! We got a few dishes, the fried chicken was the best I’ve had in a long time
The only thing that could’ve been improved was the fish on the sushi roll, could’ve been fresher
Hyakumi in Niddrie has incredibly generous serving sizes, great value for money, excellent vegan options and lovely staff. The vegan Bento Box is my favourite.
Ended up here after A Series of Unfortunate Airplane Related Events that I would rather not have to think about again.
The upside was that we discovered this gem, because everything at the airport is either closed at any reasonable hour to (be trying to) fly, or I wouldn't ask anyone I liked well enough to eat out with to eat there.
The food here was delicious, and freshly made to order - we will definitely be back for more. (although hopefully under slightly better circumstances, although the food certainly cheered us up last time!)
The absolute best Japanese restaurant in Melbourne.
The food is so fresh, the service is amazing & everything tastes amazing.
Could not recommend this place more ️
We come every fortnight & look forward to it every time!
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!
WE CALLED THE RESTAURANT TONIGHT TO SEE WHAT TIME THEY CLOSE AND WAS ADVISED KITCHEN CLOSES AT 9: 30PM AND THE RESTAURANT AT 10PM. WE ARRIVED BEFORE 9: 30 AND THEY HAD ALREADY CLOSED. NOT HAPPY AFTER DRIVING 35 MIN AND ESPECIALLY WHEN WE TOLD THE WAITRESS WE WERE ON OUR WAY.
We had the chef selection banquet but unfortunately the waygu beef and the shabu shabu (the main dish) was not available and substituted with the teppanyaki. The miso shiru was perfect, but then this was massively let down by the ika geso age (salad with salmon eggs and kewpie (mayo) accross the dish The sushi bar and the oysters came together which felt like a piece was missing from the sushi bar and they hid it by putting the oyster in its spot. The garlic prawns came next sitting on a disappointing warm salad pieces. The teppanyaki followed and this was the best dish of the set making me wonder how good the waygu could have been. However this was a single dish rather than 2 (as we bought 2 sets so either they comvinwd them or forgot a set - did not ask) and there was no price reduction for the sub. The final dish was fired banana with ice cream.
Can’t imagine that someone said it’s the best sushi, I’m so disappointed for 30 aud this bento box, apart that the food came soggy.
The fish was over cooked and sashimi was acidic, couldn’t even eat it and thanks god, today having issues with my stomach, which is sure from this, felt wrong straight after dinner.
Absolutely not worth your money! Avoid going there specially if you don’t want food poisoning and bad quality food
Excellent restaurant! We had a Nabeyaki udon with the soft shell crabs and edamame as starters. They were all delicious.
My wife has cileac (gluten-free diet only) and the lady there understands that perfectly.she is able to distinguish what food has gluten or not down to each ingredient!
And the food was great!
Thanks guys!
This is the best restaurant EVER!
. Seriously though! The service is ALWAYS amazing (great work B)
My partner and I go there so often now as the food has been consistently amazing every single visit. Every dish is so thoughtfully put together and tastes delicious!
This is definitely our favourite restaurant for a reason. Delicious authentic Japanese food, amazing service and great vibes/atmosphere.
11/10 - will continue to eat here forever ️️ We love you HYAKUMI.
Such a great restaurant. The food is so fresh, especially the sashimi. As amazing as the food is, the staff make this place 100 times better. So friendly and welcoming. My partner and I come to eat here every few weeks it's so good! Thanks Hyakumi:)
Terrible. Called ahead to make a booking and ask if wheelchair accessible. And they said, “yup absolutely - no problem! ” Rock up the place and I can’t get inside. One patron was exceptionally rude, harassed me and made joke about “his suffering” over myself (a wheelchair user!) and the staff just laughed it off. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I really like this place i have been going here for 3 years straight and not once do they let me down hands down best cheap japanese restraunt in the area KEEP IT UP LOVE IT
My new favorite Japanese restaurant in Melbourne! The food is amazing and the sashimi is so fresh, honestly the best I ever had. Service is excellent, they really do the best to make you happy:)
This is our family favorite for Japanese. Always fresh and never disappoints. We have little kids and they love the gyoza and cucumber maki rolls. Restaurant is unpretentious and consistently serves good quality food for a good price.
