Hwatu 화투 花鬪 - Korean Street Food

Been here a few times since they merged with/replaced Manchi Korean Fried Chicken.

In-store service has generally been pretty good, but every time we order online our food is wrong. Today we got about 8 bit-sized pieces of chicken (advertised as 400g), and they forgot the sauce (which you have to pay extra for). While we love the food, this is the 3rd time we've had an issue which is really disappointing.

This might be my new favorite spot in lygon.great and affordable food.had the beef bibimbap and it was amazing.huge portions and its very yummy

Very reasonable menu re pricing but small portion. Food was ok but nothing special. Can find better korean chicken and dishes somewhere else.
Very nice staffs and services though so may give it another go to try other dishes first if in the area.

I couldn’t be any happier than I am with what I had for dinner tonight, the value you get with these meals is insane! 12$ for a huge plate of kimchi fried rice with spicy pork, the calamari was spot on best I’ve had in a long time, service was really good friendly staff, online app said the food would take 15 minutes it showed up in 7!

I’d like to thank the staff at this restaurant again for such an amazing dinner! I will be coming back

It was ok. We went last month and I was very looking forward for the chicken feet but the flavour was a little lacking. The skin wasn't soft enough so it's a little hard to clean it off the bones
We also tried the pork skin which was good.
Probably should try the chicken/pork platter next time

I walked in with my girlfriend to this place and forget about being greeted

The head host looked at us like why are we even there and this is 8: 45PM approx 2hours before they close kitchen.

She then made me sit on aplastic stool instead of the empty booth which they said was pre booked.

The stools were extremely uncomfortable.

The booth adjacent to it got empty and I requested the waitress to get us that booth since I am sure it won't be pre booked to which the host jumping in said
We don't have staff to clean that booth so I can't sit on it.
I am not sure if the reason for them not attending to us was just racial bias or some manager who was in the bad mood.
When I politely told her I'll be writing a review about this experience. The host said yeah go ahead like it doesn't matter at all.

This has to be the worst hospitality experience of my life. Why do people get into hospitality when they don't know how to behave with customers.

Don't ever visit this place.

Terrible Experience at Seoul Pocha

I had a disappointing visit to Seoul Pocha. Despite arriving around 9 PM, I received no greeting upon entering the restaurant. The host appeared to be engrossed in her phone and was unresponsive when I approached her to request a table. Her demeanor was quite rude, and she didn't pay any attention to my request.

After finally being seated, I waited patiently for someone to take my order for a staggering 20 minutes. Frustrated, I approached the host again, hoping for some assistance. To my dismay, she brushed me off, claiming to be busy with other tasks and remained glued to her phone.

Given the lack of service and the disrespectful attitude of the staff, I decided to leave the establishment. This experience was made even worse by the fact that I had purchased a deal on a food app, which went to waste due to the poor service.

I am deeply disappointed by the overall rudeness and lack of professionalism displayed by the staff at Seoul Pocha. As a customer, I expected much better treatment. I will not be returning to this restaurant and would strongly advise others to reconsider dining here as well.

It's disheartening to encounter such behavior from a server, especially when dining out is meant to be a pleasant experience.

The kids all enjoyed the korean food here! Nice fried chicken, must try. Many lunch menu to choose.

The Korean lady boss is very nice, but she is super busy that taking order, serving food, clearing table by her own. Salute!

This place has some of the nicest Korean food I've had in Melbourne! The service was fast and the food came out quickly and was nice and hot.
Their kimchi pancake was the die for and the kimchi and daikon you get you can have refilled at any time!
The cheese pulls are extreme and the flavour and texture of the toppoki is just AMAZING seriously some of the best I've had!
They have lots of Soju flavours and Cass beer to enjoy with the good food! Vegetarian friendly as well! We got the toppoki without fishcake for my friend! ️

Long story short: go to this place! It's amazing and you won't regret it!

Lunch special is generous and cheap! ($15 for main meal + small drink) went back for dinner and really enjoyed the fried chicken. If you want your mouth to melt off your face, get the extreme spicey sauce.

Best Korean fried chicken is here! Sides are hit and miss. Upstairs dining feels very authentic. Good drinks. Service is friendly.

The fried chicken was really nice. We ordered sweet chilli and soy garlic. It’s not soggy and it’s really crispy. The japchae can be improved. The flavour isn’t that strong. But i will definitely come back again for the korean fried chicken. It’s a cozy place for hangout as well!

Generous portions. We love the cheesy eggs dish. My daughter who doesn’t normall eat eggs, kept asking for more.
Also ordered bulgogi beef soup, it was packed with meat!

Had 3 types of fried chicken, fried rice, seafood pancakes but managed to take picture of the pancake Good food.

I’d been really wanting to have the food again from upstairs but turned down EVERY SINGLE TIME. One time is because it was Thursday (they clearly said it was open from THU-SUNDAY on Facebook but suddenly changed to SAT-SUN when I asked?) and another time for no effing reason. It was only 10 pm and it’s closed? I’m not coming here EVER again and not gonna recommend to anyone.

Good quality food, pricing is okay. Once staff bring your food, you won’t see them again untill you pay the bill. I would come back again.

I got to know Hwatu offered halal Korean Fried Chicken six months ago and the first time I tried it, it blows my mind. This is it. The authentic taste of Korean friend chicken. The taste that I have been craving for since I left Korea. The crisp, the sweetness, the spice, and the umami are combined perfectly! I have ordered Hwatu Korean Fried Chicken through UberEats for a total 12 times within these six months - that's 2 times per month - and this doesn't include the dining in and take aways that I lost count of. Crazy isn't? Cause yeah it is that good! Super recommended. Oh eventho you did takeaway or delivery - rest assured the chicken will not become soggy and will stay crunchy even to the next day! My favorite flavors are soy garlic, extreme spicy, and sweet chili

Our Second time of dining in here and its definitely not the last. Food are tasty. Served hot and plated well. Service is amazing! ️Highly recommended.

Beautiful fried chicken and Kimchi rice. Decent price too. Customer service is outstanding! Very attentive, friendly and accommodating staff. Will come again for sure!

Delicious food, service wise, not so much. I kept calling the number you provided to order takeaway but it was turned off! When I arrived to the store the staff was so polite saying the store was busy when she was on her phone. Yes very busy indeed. I'm not angry, just disappointed. Do better Hwatu please Thank you.
