Hwaro Korean BBQ Restaurant reviews
71This is one of the first KBBQ restaurant to introduce charcoal bbq and it’s so good! The meat quality is high quality - loved the wagyu thin strip. Ssam (lettuce for wraps) is included in the banchan. Cold noodles is a must order here!
The meat was so good! Tasty and texture was tender~ and the service was really thoughtful~ highly recommend this place!
Everything was so delicious and with good quality! The owner and the staffs are very nice and with good service! Definitely going back with more friends and remember to book a table! Thank you
Fantastic traditional charcoal korean BBQ, food is amazing, service was attentive and friendly. Overall a fantastic experience.
This one has been on the favourites list for a long time, it's really good!
Dish Recommendation:
Set C Premium
Wagyu Thin-skirt
Wagyu Tender Strip
Special LA Gal-Bi
The wagyu meat was tender, rich in fat, and had a nice mix of fat and lean, and the flavour of the meat itself dipped in a bit of sea salt was really nice! And the marinated cowboy bone, a little sweet taste, so delicious!
Seafood Pancake
A bite full of seafood, with prawns, squid, oysters, with spring onions and a little carrot, rich in flavour, the pancake was very crispy and the pancake was just the accompaniment! Dipped in the sauce, it was so that!
Korean Soybean Paste Soup (seafood)
with seafood, tofu, onion and courgette.
Overall it's a great dining experience, and the staff will help you grill the meat the whole time, which is really great!
Hwaro gave me a truly delectable dining experience. The Wagyu beef is incredibly fresh, and their service is impressive. The cheese scallops are a melt-in-your-mouth delight. I highly recommend trying the seafood pancake! A must-visit for anyone who loves Korean food.
We had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The authentic Korean BBQ was outstanding, and the Wagyu beef was incredibly fresh with top-level quality. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was remarkable. Highly recommend trying the Wagyu tender and La-Galbi, they were fantastic. The side dishes were authentic and complemented the meal perfectly. We'll definitely be coming back next time!
Enjoyable night at Hwaro. We selected BBQ Set A, wagyu are so juicy and delicious. Staffs really helpful, love the seafood pancake and spicy tofu soup as well!
If you don't have a booking, please don't bother.
The service between the hosts are horrendous and beyond rude. They will not engage or talk to you and will proceed to walk over or across from you to another person behind you and talk to them. If the don't have a booking, they too will get the same silent treatment
The staff and hosts are clearly more comfortable talking, bantering and drinking behind the cashier table, than talk to you while you're standing right there waiting for an answer.
It's easier to tell a customer that they're busy, fully booked or not talking walk ins at present, but it seems they opt for the awkward "if I don't look or talk to them, they may walk away approach" and it seems to work as we were not the only one that walked away with the same thought
The place was small cramped and extremely smokey. More than what you would have experienced at any other Korean bbq restaurants. The smoke clouds are thick like a smoker's box. Surprising when they have exhausts at each table
We have always wanted to try here, but that's enough to never want to. There are plenty of other wonderful Korean bbq restaurants around with quality people to assist you whether you are a diner or not
It’s a nice restaurant to bring your friends in terms of ambience for sure, but there are much better k-bbq options in the CBD. The servings were so tiny, we ordered a set menu plus extra meat but it still wasn’t enough. Pretty stingy on the side dishes, too.
The food was pretty good but the prices are nearly twice what other nearby Korean Barbecues are and it appeared that we were charged quite a lot for banchan refills. We also felt very hurried to finish even though we had booked in advance. The worst was when a waiter cooked a piece of our wagyu beef for us and she cooked it and kept flipping it until it was way past well-done.
Wagyu beef was amazing, the staff were super helpful and friendly and had good suggestions on what to order. A very authentic atmosphere
Always fast service and good produce food.
They have a combination of seating options to more traditional partial floor seating to normal tables.
The kimchi pancakes are always a go to.
My sister and I are obsessed with Korean bbq, we eat it quite often. Tonight was the first time eating at Hwaro. By far the BEST meat we’ve eaten. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic traditional charcoal korean BBQ, food is amazing, service was attentive. Overall a fantastic experience.
Not the best experience, been KBbq hopping in Melbourne and was very excited to try this one but it ended up in disappointment. Food is too expensive and the portions are not a lot. Good to try just to know what this restaurant was about but will not come back any time soon unless I’m desperate to eat and willing to spend money.
Hwaro is a place that would've been top tier a few years ago when there was not as much competition, but now it is just average in my opinion.
The atmosphere is very thick, by that I mean there is a lot of smoke. I was surprised because they do have smoke exhaust at every table. The meats are decent quality but the servers cooking for us have a little bit of trouble handling all the tables and some meats are slightly burnt.
There is a lot of competition in korean bbq around Melbourne now and it needs some changes to be the best around.
Food was good but I wanted to complain about their services. We were a group of 13 and even though we had booked it a day before, they just gave us a table for 10 and all the requests we made, most of them ignored.
Used to be friendly place and nice food but now is always rush rush, we need to eat quickly or order more food otherwise u cant not sit there to enjoy or drinking cause they will ask u to leave to give the table for the next customer, foods are too salty now
Overall bright and comfortable interior, good. However, side dish a bit lacking in choices hehe.
