Hunky Dory Fish & Chips South Yarra

First time dining here as we are from SA. The young ladies serving were very polite and always had a smile. The food was cooked to perfection. If we are visiting Melbourne again I would certainly dine here again.

The food is fresh and the prices are reasonable. This is why I keep coming back. However the loud music is not necessary

Beautiful fish and chips. Got the hake and chips and it was fresh and well-cooked (I hate pale chips!). No bones in the fish and a nice tartare sauce. Great staff too when I picked it up.

Good clean fish and chip shop. The fish was nicely cooked in golden batter. Also has a couple of seats outside.

The waiter Demetrix was very friendly and professional. Made my dining experience super lovely

Visited Hunky Dory with family. Overall, the food is consistent with other branches of Hunky Dory. The atmosphere is good and the decor is minimalistic that suits the vibe of the place.

The waitress was really polite and friendly, and welcomed us in the restaurant.

I found the brown rice slightly undercooked and reported to the owner as a courtesy. He checked and agreed, and offered a replacement but it wasn't a major problem and I didn't want to waste food for a minor issue.

We ordered the grilled fish versions of the Latino, the African and an Old School fish and chips. Fish was cooked well, although the fillet seemed too small.
I guess they can increase the size of the fillet and accordingly raise the price. They should also consider reducing the amount of Greek salad and lime that comes with the meal. That way they can keep the margins and the portions balanced.

I came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. I was served by two young guys who were really kind and helpful. The food here is good and their prices are reasonable. I'm definitely coming back for more:)

It was poor communication with staff and chef. I was cope and wait for my meal. When I ordered mediterranean salad grilled with fish and add sweet potatoes however I didn't order chips and miss greek salad add no cheese feta and olive i am very disappointing for my meal. Please dont bother customers inculded me. DO IT SOMETHING!

It has been here for years and it has always been reliable in quality and service. Great food, fresh and tasty. Highly recomended.

Ordered from Uber eats and it arrived hot, fresh and delicious. Fish was still juicy and chips were crunchy and fluffy.

This place single handedly made me like fish. Fresh salads, fish, and crispy chips. Every time I get fish and chips elsewhere, I wish I’d gone to HD. The staff are also super lovely, the prices are great.

My first and definitely the last time I ordered anything at this place, pls write on your menu that your fish size is suitable for kids menu, I'd be ashamed for the price you charge to send out such a small piece of fish, stingy much? !

Order take away tonight (13 April). Had this piece of metal in my food. I am happy that I noticed it and spit it out right away. BUT NOT HAPPY this happened

Value for money is incredibly fair. The proportions are always generous. Fish is prepared with absolute care and attention to detail and quality. The salads are delicious and garden-fresh. Been here twice with my 3 year old. She had grilled fish both times and was really sick afterwards both times. Pretty sure that the fish wasn’t cooked properly both times.

Their fish and chips are fantastic, the fish is yummy and almost melts in the mouth. Prices are cheap too, no wonder so many customers frequent this place.

Was gonna cook tonight but remembered how much I hate lifting a finger as soon as I saw this place. Very happy with my decision, food was top shelf and the customer service was elite, will be back!
