Fish is always nicely battered and crispy, never dry. They have a good selection of menu items but always have something on special. Go-to place for a nice, easy meal.

Food was good but almost pooped my pants 20 minutes after it was terrifying (I blame the Latino sauce)

I have ordered several times from Hunky’s in Highett, and they don’t disappoint, always fresh, hot, and well salted! Tonight we were given a free box of mixed seafood which was so nice and thoughtful plus super delicious! Can’t recommend hunkys in highett enough!

Sometimes all you want are chips! Hadn't been here before but in area so got takeaway. Small chips, 2 potato cakes, fried cauliflower bites and a piece a flake for husband. I had salad roll at home so put potato cake in it and delicious! Chips were nice but shouldn't have bothered with the cauliflower. Would have given 3 stars but increased to four because they also sell hot jam donuts! And if you've read any of my other reviews you know I can't go past hot jam donuts. But I've had better. Nice location, lots of seating outside and can see how on a warm afternoon it would be nice sitting outside having chips and wine and watching Highett happen.

Previously loved it, however after a couple of instances have concerns about hygiene. Most recently found a half dead fly buried deep in my salad and fish smelt off.

We popped in for a quick dinner and had swift service.portions were large, sufficient and fresh at affordable prices.we were not hurried out; they were happy for us to hang out after our meals were done.all satisfied and we would definitely come back if we ever feel like fish again.

Mum and I had Hunky Dory for lunch today. I can’t believe I have not tried the sensational marinated prawns, calamari and beautiful fish and chips! WOW I wish I could give more stars THE BEST FISH AND CHIP PLACE EVER

My family and I had a late lunch here and the staff were really friendly. Good food to accommodate all of us. My 3-year old son loved watching the trains come and go from the station next door.

Chips are consistently great! The grilled flake is gorgeous. The service is great. Lovely people. Salads great, too. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Had a pretty average experience here. The grilled fish came out undercooked so it was sent back to the kitchen (fish was clear and like jelly). Staff member was fine about it but not an amazing experience for us. Port Melbourne Hunky Dory seems to be a little bit better in terms of food quality and service.

Great flake and chips. Nicely battered and not oily. Cooked perfectly and just the right amount of salt. Friendly and prompt service. I’ll be back

I’ve been a regular here for many many years now, and have seen a progressive decline in the standard and cleanliness of the restaurant (partly due to its age), a step down in portion size and in part food quality but I’ve still been coming, but today will be my last visit largely out of principal, today I was asked to pay $4.40 for one very small portion or ketchup and one of tartar sauce $2.20 each (pic below) I do get that costs are going up but that’s just ridiculous. If Hunky Dory continue to make poor decisions like this as a business it will definitely cost you a lot of customers. Good luck.

I ate at Hunky Dory Highett for the first time a few weeks ago with my husband and daughter and could not have been more impressed! The food was genuinely delicious. We ordered the grilled fish pack (and paid for some additional fish). Everything was cooked to perfection. The addition of chips and salad made for a terrific combination. We also had a glass of pinot grigio, which was the perfect accompaniment. My daughter also loved her meal. The service from waiting staff and management was really friendly, attentive, professional and efficient. Will definitely be back and can highly recommend!

Really yum fish & chips at a reasonable price. The people are nice, good portion sizes too. There is seating inside, outside and in the shipping centre. Plenty of parking in the Woolies car park. What's not to like?

My partner and I used to love coming here.however, I found a peg in my food on one occasion (yes, an actual peg!). Another two occasions, there was hair in the box. Fish is often undercooked, chips very hit and miss.sometimes crispy, sometimes soggy. The hygiene standard are disgusting. The shop often looks grubby and the staff clearly don’t take care to be clean and hygienic. It’s such a shame as we used to rave about it.

Very tidy place. Purity of taste. No doubt at all to give 5 ***** for customer service. No doubt on quality and quantity of food. Customise the food according to your taste very happily. Staff are always standby for the customers. Visit once and you will be addicted to this place for sure.

High quality fish and chips, lots of interesting menu options - not just fried or grilled! Will be going back. Service was efficient and pleasant.
