Impossible to contact! They never answer the phone and emails are ignored. I will not be using H&R block in future and cannot recommend them to anyone. They need to hire more staff if they're supposedly so busy.

Worst service I have ever experienced. I had my appointment back in July, and it is now November, and I have had no outcome for my tax return. I have called 10 times, and emailed 3 (including to HR) — I either get no answer, or get assured an agent will get back to me by the end of the day (they never have). This service has been exhausting, invalidating, and a major source of stress. I get the impression that HR Block just don’t care about the financial matters of a FT student with next to no income.

*HR Block, re.your comment I emailed your district manager (to the address provided) over a week ago…after reading your response (copy-paste job?) to another review complaint. More silence…

Much like most of the reviews here, I have also had no luck getting any information as to why my tax return has not been lodged by H&R block Brunswick, more than 1 month after my tax appointment. I’ve rang 4 times in the last week and each time I get told someone will call me, guess what … I’m still waiting.

It has been terrible customer service experience, I’ve previously used Moonee Ponds and Airpot West branches with no isses, I wish id done that this year. Once this has been resolved I won’t be using your services again.

I have been with H&R Block Brunswick VIC for many years now and Margaret is exceptional. Margaret provides excellent advice, assistance and service with all of my tax affairs. I am extremely grateful and thank you again Margaret.

Booked saturday appointment, tax agent (also the office manager) was 45 minutes late

Wasn't able to complete return in time allowed to me and was asked if we could finalise return at the end of that day over the phone as there was another client waiting.agreed to this, was never called back

Sent email enquiring about issue, received no response

Called head office next business day to sort out finalising return and was told I would be called 5.30 pm that day to finalise. Once again never received call or, email or message.

Don't go here unless you like having your time wasted.

We have been seeing Margaret for years now and always look forward to our annual visit to HR block Brunswick. She always looks after us trying to get the best outcome for us. She is very knowledgeable and always up for a chat picking up where we left off. Totally recommend Margaret!

I was initially hesitant to use this provider for my tax return due to some of the reviews I had read but persevered anyway. Safe to say I won’t return. The actual assessment was fine, however, I was advised that my return would be lodged and finalised within two weeks.

Three weeks later, after not receiving or hearing anything regarding my assessment, I rang and was told that my return had not been lodged. When questioned as to the reason for the delay, I was told I would receive a call (which I never received) to explain because my return was with a bunch that had ‘problems’. I called every day for four days because every time I was told my call would be returned by a certain time it never was. Every time I asked to speak with the accountant I was told she was unavailable and she would call me back that day to explain the reason for the delay because the receptionist, whilst lovely could not help.

Eventually, by day four I was told by the receptionist that my return had been lodged. I requested that regardless, I wanted to speak with the accountant or at least have the accountant explain to the receptionist what had occurred, so I could make an informed decision as to whether to use H&R Block’s service again.

After the fifth promise of a return phone call, one has never been received and I have never discovered the reason for the delay. Amongst this, the cost to have this service provided was unreasonable when compared to other people I have spoken with who have sought the same service from other providers.

Whilst I understand that times are challenging currently, ultimately this is a service industry and the customer service here was appalling. With no regard for customers, accountants are placed in back-to-back appointments and can not assist past the initial assessment service. If this is going to be how you choose to operate a business, I suggest employing support staff who can actually assist with client queries or ensure your accountants have adequate time to lodge the assessments you have them doing on a revolving door schedule.

Like many others who have left reviews, I completed my tax return a month ago and it still hasn’t been lodged yet. I’ve emailed and called but no one has gotten back to me. I even spoke to head office but they just put the call through to Brunswick and it rung out. I just want some, any, communication about what’s happening and what the hold up is. I’m mainly leaving this review so that someone at H&R Block will get back to me and lodge my return.

I have always had a positive experience at H and R Block in Brunswick. The accountant, Margaret who completed my tax return has always gone out of her way to make sure everything is correct and my tax return is completed. She always explains everything to me. She is one of the best accountants. I would like to thank the staff at H and R Block in Brunswick for their patience and great customer service. They are always professional, kind and polite. I will always get my tax return completed at H and R Block in Brunswick.

Last year, Margaret delayed my return and I was given excuses as to why. Given the previous 4 years and there being no issues, I chose to let it slide. This year, she said my return was lodged, a week later, no lodgement on the ATO. I called everyday last week and no return calls - finally spoke to Margaret, after hours, when she answered the phone. She told me there was an issue with my return and she had fixed it and lodged - 3 days later, no lodgement on ATO website.
So the cycle begins on chasing her. Its been 3 weeks since I had my appointment with HR Block - Ive decided to go to VCAT and also seek a professional accountancy firm next year because this isn't acceptable or professional

I’m an Aussie living in the UK and made a trip back to Australia in Jan 2020 and went into H&R block to lodge the previous 2 years tax return. Their system was down however I was assured by Margaret that as soon as it was up and running again my returns would be lodged. I had to return to the UK shortly thereafter. In February this year, over 2 years later, Margaret had still failed to lodge my tax return in spite of approx 30 email reminders and multiple phone calls and I had to return to Australia to arrange a meeting with her to get my returns finalised. She then asked me for further information for the returns and whilst frustrated that she hadn’t asked for this in the previous two years, I promptly provided it. In spite of this, another 6 months on, she has still failed to lodge my tax returns and taken her fee for it (although admittedly she did agree to give me a 30% discount acknowledging how long she had taken and the poor level of service she had delivered)

Whilst Margaret has always been quite a nice lady in the 8 or so years which she’s done my tax, the level of customer service she has delivered here is beyond disgraceful. If your tax return has any kind of international income or anything beyond the realms of being extremely simple then I can only advise that from my experience, she does not appear to have the competence to assist. And if your tax return is extremely simple, then perhaps you’re just better off doing it online and saving yourself the fee they charge. I will persist on ringing and emailing her for another week and if I can’t finalise matters I will be forced to report the matter to VCAT.

I’ve been seeing Margaret now for over 16 years, back when she was working out of the Northcote office on High Street. If you want an excellent tax return go and see her as she is the best in the business!

I hate to have to do a bad review, but as I see many others here have experienced the unprofessional service and I have to totally agree with their reviews as I also experienced the unprofessional service from this office. Had a phone call, provided them with necessary documents, waited 10 days for no communication back to me on the process. Had several other phone calls to the head office to arrange for appointments, and guess what the tax agent did not even attend the phone call that I was promised for without any communication to let me know what's going on. Very poorly run service here and very frustrating for me.

Margaret did a great job. I booked an online appointment and had my return done within 24 hours and submitted after 48. Super-fast and super-happy.

I have been a customer for the past 6 years. They normally on top of everything. But this year has been the worst customer service. I had an appointment on the 14th of August gave all the information required. Charged me with 180$ for a standard tax return. After a month of not getting any update from the ATO website. Followed it up a couple of times with their customer service and the accountant promised that they will attend to my tax return as soon as possible. Again followed it up on the 22nd of October. Still no phone call or update from them. It is now the 26th of October and they still haven't done my tax return. You shouldn't accommodate more people if you can't attend to them all. Being in lockdown is not an excuse if everything can be done online and if you need to go to the office ask for work permit instead of waiting for the restriction to ease out! What a disappointment!

Went in to find out how much they charge, explaining that I currently have no money on me but needed that info, they said they would "work something out" for me and the lady I spoke to palmed me off to someone else who filed my taxes despite me telling her several times I have no money and charged me $150. Don't bother with these grubs.
