Hot Star Large Fried Chicken

The smell is awful. The chicken steak is big, but the meat is very thin. The chicken steak overall it's like a thick skin of flour. The flour skin is not crumble but very oily and it also comes off the meat easily. It makes you extremely thirsty after eating this. The same for its deep fried octopus.
Avoid wasting money in this shop.

The chicken was really over cooked and very. The bater was very chewy and not cooked in the middle. I think this was cooked previously and then re-dipped in oil to heat it up again. I couldn't finish, there was way more batter than there was chicken, feels like over half of it was just batter, soggy in oil. Seasoning was very sparse as well, concentrated on the top of the bag really, so after the first few bites, there was nothing in the middle.

The chips were very brown and dry as well, almost to a crisp. It was re-heated in a similar way and saturated in oil. I believe the oil was also a bit old and hadn't been changed since it was already in the evening.

The price set is not competitive, I could get better chicken at the Woolsworth warmer shelf for half the price I paid. I would have though the quality to be much higher since it is in Boxhill where consumers have a variety of food outlets to choose from.

Will not be returning for now, hopefully the management can improve on the quality of their products.

Saw a 'manager' at Hot Star s*xually harassing a staff member at the nearby Gong Cha. Absolutely disgusting. Can't believe Hot Star would hire 'people' like this.

Unbelievable! I used the self service to ordered.when i was waiting i realized on the receipt it says fail to send to the POS please take to the counter! The payment has went throught also on the receipt it says approved.the staff says i have to pay again for my order.the payment did not went through
i show them my bank statement they says ita pending which mean the transaction has been cancelled?

Tried contacting customer support because I love this chain but god was the chicken inedible, and by that I mean nearly entirely bone and cartilage, absolutely no real meat on it.

Not happy, I came at 8: 40PM but was turned away because use where closing. And when asked why? ! He replied we are closed. But when I told him that he had 20 minutes left. He replied rudely no we are closed! But if your operating hours state you close at 9PM then close at 9PM!

I ordered $8.50 fried squid, the size wouldn’t even feeds a 3 yo kid. Please everyone, avoid all cost at this place

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Tried once, never will come back. Firstly, ordered a family pack, but there’re 2 things missing, didn’t give me wings AND chicken popcorn… unbelievable! Secondly, their fried chicken is only 1/3 chicken meat, 1/3 dough, and 1/3, guess what, BONES! Thirdly, meat is not at all tender nor juicy, crumbs are not at all crispy nor flavorful… the whole thing tastes like boiled shoe soles. AVOID THIS SHOP! Gives one star only because I can’t give less.

After 40 mins' wait, staff told me they forget my sweet photos. I have to waiting another 20 mins. The only reason I come there today, is the two peak not open!

Very disappointing with the soggy chicken. There was so much moisture that the blue ink from the paper packaging transferred to the chicken. Was difficult to remove so nearly half of it ended up in the bin.

One of the best chicken pieces I have ever tasted. Crispy on the outside and succulent and juicy on the inside. The list of flavours you can add to your chicken is impressive however I was disappointed they were out if cheese flavour as I really wanted to try that. That's the only reason they have lost a star. Businesses should ensure they have enough stock so customers aren't disappointed. Overall a great experience and I will be returning to try and get my hands on the cheese flavour.

Got food poisoning and was out for a whole week just recently (November 2021). Do not recommend.

The food is authentic of Taiwan, it’s not some ordinary chicken. The flavour and the portion is the same as the original night-market in Taiwan. The price is not as cheap as the night market but that’s like everything in Australia.

Complaint of staff Yvonne we ordered fried chicken and bubble tea but she told us to order drinks from the machine because she has drinks to make? She just took drink orders from the customer before us what a joke. This Staff has personality issue

Poor customer service and long wait. Not going back and would recommend others to go to the plenty of better food places nearby!
They told me to wait outside for my number to be called. There's even a sign outside saying wait here until your number is called. They did not call my number. After waiting for a while I went up and he gave me my order that had been waiting. When I asked why he didn't call my order out he says he doesn't call the number out theres a tv screen that shows the number and I should have just known my number was on the screen from outside. Very rude and he clearly did not care at all.

I just placed the order from menulog for 30 mins and the order haven't confirmed yet, voice message bank is full so can't give a call.

My partner has placed order this week and same thing happen. Can someone solve the problem?

I wanted to give a 5 stars but ONE COUNTER IS NOT ENOUGH! I just moved to the east last month and I already fell in love with the food, but I came here twice and I got confused. I wasn’t ordering any drinks but I waited in the line with all the other people, I didn’t even know if they were ordering or just waiting.

But the customer service from the guy with the black uniform is awesome even though I can tell he is busy as hell.

Yummy crispy fried chicken with four different seasonning flavours you can choose to paired it. Tip! You can choose two different seasonings flavours at the same time. I liked mine salt and pepper with chillies powder.
