Hot Star Fried Chicken

Since they've replaced the terrible service staff and re-opened, there has been a SIGNIFICANT improvement in the quality of food and service provided.
It's been great to have the local Hot Star that is up to par to the other franchises again.

It was so unpalatable, the fried noodles were so soft and sticky that they looked like something else. It was the most disgusting Taiwanese fried chicken steak I have ever eaten in my life. (CBD is not so bad)

I just ordered the crispy wings - cheese flavour in store and they were literally the most delicious wings I’ve ever had, and all flats! The staff were super friendly, and clearly happy to be at work. Highly recommend!

This was terrible. The chicken was barely fried, just an oily, floury, gelatinous mess. Add to that the abrasive and disgruntled service, was a bad experience with food I didn’t finish. Best part was the can of coke.

I bought chicken pop and mushroom yesterday and start stomachache last night and diarrhea whole day today. I literally watery diarrhea whole day and got 38.5 temperature. I’m so suffering and will definitely go report this place.

Rudest service I’ve ever had in any Hot Star branch. Their music was loud, they wore masks and their voice was at normal volume, I couldn’t hear a thing they said so I asked for repeat and they had the audacity to be irritated with me. First time here and never again. I know short staff is happening every where but this is appalling customer service. If you don’t enjoy what you do then just quit.

Too much coating and very little flavour. Plus most of the time the shop is closed even during business hours.

If you don't want to sell just don't sell it to me.

Inedible. I'm not sure if the whole think was covered in icing sugar or battered in fairy floss but that's what it tasted like. Chicken and chips is not supposed to be candy flavoured.

Completely unappealing chicken was over saltwd and undercooked. The fries were terrible too

Obsessed with the food but the reviews about the bad service are correct. The shop is closed half the time (during business hours). I’m not exaggerating to say, that every second time I went it was closed when it was supposed to be open. One time I went in when the doors were open and everything looked open, lights on ect, and during opening hours probably 1pm but they still told me it was closed which was confusing. They seem really understaffed because the guy that works tries to not acknowledge you and it’s kind of hard to order. Its very obvious he wants you to go away. I’ve also come in before and had no one acknowlege me or serve me for 15 minutes which I understand if they are understaffed but it feels very strange when they don’t acknowledge you either or tell you there is a wait, because I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to walk out the store or if they didn’t want me there. They also have have signs about all the ingredients they’ve sold out of however these signs have been up for ages and live there semi permanently so not sure what is going on there (I’m not sure if they permanently decided not to stock so many items or if they just can’t be bothered taking down the signs?). Also very weird set up of not knowing whether to order with the machine or at the register. This is the strangest store I’ve been to management wise and service wise

I really wanted to love this, but we unfortunately didn't. Unlike the Hot Star in the CBD the breading here was thick and chewy which sort of ruined the entire experience.

The seasoning was good for the most part, though way too salty and heavy on the 5 spice. With the breading not being completely done, it also turned out extremely greasy.

Also, I love mushrooms but we got 4 small pieces of battered mushroom as our order of mushroom fries and that was tragically disappointing for $7 and neither of us liked them, though that could be our own fault as I have never had that particular variety of mushroom deep fried before. The only tasty part of our meal was the sweet potato fries.

The attendant though was very cheery, polite, and genuinely interested which by itself earned 2 stars. However, outside of the hard working and polite worker, it is really worth going to the CBD for good Hot Star chicken.

Waited for ages and the food wasn't that good for the price. Just go to Macca's instead guys
