Holmesglen - ZEST Restaurant reviews
20 A culinary training facility where you get to sample and experience the dishes and service taught.
Whilst simulating fine dining, don't expect it to be. The atmosphere is relaxed and can be noisy. Service can be chaotic and a little underwhelming, though bear in mind that these folk are in training and doing the best whilst under pressure of operating a live restaurant.
Plenty of parking on the campus through certain areas is paid.
Worth the experience and it is great to support the budding chefs and wait staff.
Great fine dining while TAFE students learn their hospitality skills. Difficult to get a booking for good reason! Highly recommended. Three course meal for $30 per person. Fully licensed.
Great to see the young staff in training.the high tea was delicious, the variety and quantity of sweet and savoury foods per person was very generous.
Lovely customer service from the students, you can see they are still learning, but they are trying their best.
Tables and cutleries are beautifully set up.
The presentations of the food look amazing, seasoning was great.
There are still some areas of improvement like waiters don’t know the menus well; overcooked steak and completely melted sorbet served.
But of course you would expect some mistakes as all of the chefs and waiters are students and they are still learning.
Dishes and drinks are very cheap as well.
Don’t be surprised if the students don’t know everything about the menu and the dishes are not cooked perfectly, they are learning and we are paying a very good price.
5 star for the lovely students and professional teachers.
Menus trash yb better
Where's my kids menu and my chicken strips I rather go to Red rooster
L l+ ratio
Glass is empty just like the menu
Delicious meal served by an enthusiastic group of hospitality students. We had a great experience and the food was great. Fabulous value - $30 for a 3 course meal.
Good food served with very enthusiastic staff who's main focus to keep their customers happy. We'll make it your first visit if you like to experience something new unfortunately that will never be your last.
The atmosphere was nice. We had what they called high tea, the sweet dishes outweighed the number of savoury dishes for lunch. I felt sickened by eating so many sugary deserts as there were not enough savoury dishes.
For a college that is supposed to be educating students on hospitality, high tea is meant to be served at late afternoon or early evening, not at lunchtime.
All the food was plonked down in one go (savouries and sweets), since this was being served at lunchtime my preference would have been for all the savoury food to be served first, so we could enjoy that with wine and then after finishing that course, be served sweets with tea.
Attended the awards night and enjoyed the evening. The Dean gave a splendid speech outlining the various programs available at the Holmesglen Tafe. A truly international college. Whilst enjoying some free time before the ceremonies we were treated with scrumptious snacks and drinks prepared and served by the faculty students. I was amazed at the quality work the student had produced, which reflects on the good work done by the teachers and staff. Sponsors were also very generous with the rewards and gifts given to the awards students. Well done Holmesglen Tafe.
A fun and relaxing experience and great value for money. However don't expect mind blowing service or attention to detail given its a training restaurant and the staff are actually students who are there to learn.
Holmesglen has got great facilities and the best amount of help that you can get when studying a Full-Time, Part-Time Course. And also a fantastic restaurant called ZEST!
Zest and the students in training are fabulous. Well worth the $ which you would have to pay a lot elsewhere. Tony is great at his job and Emad is irreplaceable!
Food is delicious and service is just lovely.
Good concept on the food being cooked by young and aspiring young chefs,
makes the atmosphere even more fantastic.
The food was great. The students serving needed some practice but they were very courteous. At the price, it’s brilliant value. Just don’t expect it to be seamless, it’s a teaching restaurant.
Definitely not a high fine dinner restaurant. But It is valuable to be here. Only cost u 25 dollars for 3 dishes with beautiful quiet environment. The some of dishes are great. Consider the value and the quality of food. I would recommend you come here especially if u have a budget limits for date
Great Colleague with Students and Lecturers with diverse backgrounds. Fantastic atmosphere to excel in education and to build a sound career path.
Good quality food, friendly service but could be better. Limited menu items & open times. Cheep. Good selection of wines and cocktails. Good ambient space.
Absolutely great! Students are fabulous and they make an amazing job. Food is delicious and service is just lovely.
Speciality tafe campus, focuses on hospitality and also agriculture. The hospitality course has a full up and running restaurant. From kitchen to server all the food is run and operated by the students which I was very impressed by the quality of the food.
The commercial cookery class and Asian cooking course were both very challenging yet very satisfying. Would definitely recommend any young student that is looking to join the hospitality industry then this would be the perfect starting point
Excellent campus, great facilities and awesome staff that really care. The best place I have ever studied at
