I feel like I'm making great progress with my guitar playing, Rod's a great teacher and very friendly

After many years of procrastination I finally decided to get serious about learning guitar well into my 30s. Rod keeps me on track and I have really been enjoying the journey.

I started at Hollier Music with Rod in April last year. Out of curiosity I have just had a look at the other reviews, and found that I agree with everything that all previous reviews have expressed. And it is not surprising.

Rod is a really fantastic teacher. Nothing is too much trouble. He is flexible and creative, and I have found that his experience and knowledge enables him to personalize and design the best approach for you to achieve your goals. The lessons are interesting and fun and you make quick progress from the very beginning.

Rod’s teaching moves at a pace that’s perfect for you, using the most fun exercises for your level. I’m loving soloing over backing tracks at the moment and that was literally a week’s guidance and effort to set me on the right track. I definitely recommend signing up.

I have picked up my guitar after many years ‘break’ and decided to go ahead with Rod and it is proved to be the right decision.

Rod is proficient in playing guitar (of course he is a guitar master and I was amazed when I listened to his playing and thought ‘ha! This is the sound the guitar can actually make’). And more importantly he delivers the knowledge in a systematic, well organized way that I can easily understand and implement.

After two months, I see my progression in fingerpicking/ chords shapes/ basic techniques (etc.). I will be very happy to expect where can I achieve in the future with Rod.

If you are interested in playing the guitar, getting knowledge of classic guitar, improving your techniques, or totally fresh as a new starter, Rod will be a very brilliant starting point where you won’t be stopped by anything as he is so encouraging.

After a couple months learning the guitar by myself I decided to finally get lessons and came across Hollier music. Rod has been such a fantastic and patient teacher who makes you feel very comfortable regardless of your level. His lessons are always well planned and extremely organised as he provides plenty of resources to ensure you are well guided when practicing at home. Rod is also very flexible with content, and if requested he will tailor lessons around techniques you want to learn and focus on. Thanks to Rod I now have a clear path on my goals and what it takes to achieve them. In the short time I have been attending lessons with him I can definitely say that I have seen an improvement. I would highly recommend Hollier music to anyone looking to find a very flexible but grounded approach to learning the guitar!

Rod is an amazing teacher. He has been working with me for the last few months and been extremely patient during the initial stages of my learning. I have made more progress with him in 2-3 months then I have on my own over 3+ years.

Great way to learn the Guitar - Rod is relaxed but very knowledgeable. He really thinks about each lesson. I am a raw beginner (at 62 years old!) and he is very structured with his approach, teaching something new each week, building on previous lessons but not stressing out if I haven't been able to practice.
