Hinoki Japanese Pantry reviews
64I ordered takeaway - chirashi and salmon belly. So good and the salmon sashimi so fresh! Price very reasonable and they also sell japanese items
Amazing Japanese grocer with unbelievable sushi and sashimi. Some beautiful Japanese wares also
A small Japanese pantry with a sushi bar service. The sushi sashimi are made fresh to order so there are none that’s ready made or prepackaged ready to go. They are all made only when ordered and what we had was very fresh and the nori sheets were still crisp and not soggy. Sashimi were sliced well - not too thick or thin. Service is prompt enough given their space limitation and volumes of order. If you are impatient or don’t want to wait in store, you can place your order online or over the phone and just pick it up. They have a selection too of other Japanese pantry items and snacks. Worth checking it out if you are in the area
I wouldn't order sushi from here on a weekend or holiday again. Despite pre-ordering (and paying) online, the sushi is never ready at the pickup time - the last two times have had to wait an extra half hour for pre-orders. There is no clear place to wait for orders.
The sushi itself is good, but I would only go back on a weekday/non-holiday, as they can't seem to keep up with orders on busy days, even if you pre-order.
I would have to say that this experience left my completely happy. Food was as fresh as fresh could be. Quality wise, I haven’t eaten better sushi and sashimi.
Store is a mini supermarket with predominantly Japanese products.
Little bit pricey but you get quality product.
One of the favourite place to get sushi, fresh quick and easy to get.
100% better than the normal sushi store
This one made to order
So glad to find this Japanese store in Fitzroy! Prices are very reasonable and I’m amazed that their Mabo tofu sauce is way cheaper than what I have been paying for!
Great selection of Japanese products, and they even have a sushi section in it too. Their sushi platter looks good
Sushi was absolutely divine. Cute little store with lots of Japanese basics and staples plus a good range of drinks.
Tried their sushi and sashimi platter and it was good, price was reasonable compare to others. They also sell salmon sashimi fillets separately. For pantry section, there was a bunch of Japanese sauces, drinks, frozen gyozas and much more….
This place offered wide range of Japanese stuff just few tram stops away from the CBD. Went here for the sashimi, which was fresh and delicate.
The sushi always looks incredibly fresh! They sell Matcha Maiden matcha tea and lots of matcha sets! I wish they had Konjac noodles but they do have a variety of products
Zero star is what I would give to Hinoki (if option available). This was what happened the last time we got takeaway from Hinoki: My husband phoned to order and was told it would be ready for pick up by 5.15pm. He arrived at the shop on time, and waited and waited and waited - for more than an hour until well after 6pm! Our order was in fact the last order they made on that day. This was not the first time they made us wait for a long time (for more than 20 mins). It happened regularly. They just take their customers for granted. We now go elsewhere and pay a bit more to get the same quality of food. The good thing about NOT returning to Hinoki is that we no longer waste time and energy on waiting and waiting and then feeling ignored and treated badly afterwards.
Japanese convenience store with a lot of amazing groceries straight from Japan. Their sushi bar has fresh sushi and sashimi at a very good price. Service is very friendly too.
Fresh made sushi to order, the aburi salmon nigiri was delicious. A selection of Japanese products available like sake, frozen Gyoza, sweets, ramen. Also a small selection of sashimi grade fish available. On street parking
Best sushi/sashimi I've had so far! The fish was unexpectedly fresh and delicious, definitely recommend and will keep coming back!
Good choice of groceries from Japan. Food counter offering made to order sushi with great quality. Helpful staff, ready to offer advice if you are not familiar with Japanese description on products. We love shopping here when we return to Melbourne.
They have no honesty. They trick their customers only because of a small profit. They reject to fullfill their responsibility to give all paid items to their customers. Very disappointed and bad experience there.
Stumbled upon this gem as we used to go to Camberwell for our sushi/sashimi fix at Suzuran Hinoki does the same and you also have a grocer too. Prices are similar as Suzuran if not cheaper than CBD Asian grocers. Will definitely go back again!
One of the best takeaway sushi sashimi place in Melbourne! Definitely will come back. The sashimi is too die for
I really enjoy shopping here. The range of items is high quality though limited as the floor space is small but boutique. The in-house made sushi makes me hungry even though I have just eaten. Four stars because the total checkout price can be a bit high but that's the price for gourmet quality.
