Heronswood Garden Shop reviews
52Café open the red lentil coconut lemon soup with some chilli oil was fantastic on a cold day
Don't get me wrong, the place is nice, however it needs more attention and care.
And 15 aud for entry? Even though they have a cafe, souvenir shop and selling plants and pots?
Again don't get me wrong, its nice to walk around this small garden, I just think its not worth the price if you a casual visitor. Unless you decide to have a membership.
Not really worth the $15 tickets.been to the Dandenong range garden too, much prefer the one there than this one in Mornington.
Was very surprised you had to pay to go in here, but ok, it must be fantastic inside? But now not sure what the entry fee is for as it's clearly not cleaning or maintenance. $15 to see a dead veggie patch, a neglected old house and unmaintained gardens? Potential to be stunning but essentially a waste of money.
If it's an off time of year? Fair enough but you shouldn't be charging entry then.
We had a great time visiting Heronswood yesterday despite the weather. The staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable. The gardens are just stunning and gave us so many planting ideas. The nursery is well stocked with a great range of heirloom and hard to find plants. Diggers Club membership is great value for those with a green thumb. The kids love walking through the kitchen garden and seeing all the different varieties of fruits and vegetables. It has definitely inspired them. There is a small Cafe on-site, open in the nursery while the original Heronswood house is being restored.
The gardens were lovely, and the oceans views delightful. The pop up Cafe served delicious sweets to die for. Can't wait for the original Cafe to be completed.
Love this place and come here whenever we come to Melbourne, bit expensive for entry but I don't mind supporting the garden and heirloom seed shop
I love this place, what more can I say. Stunning gardens, great shop, lovely restaurant, amazing bay views!
This garden is beautiful.
A place to relax in, and unwind. Go sit under a tree and breathe. ️
Stunning views abound, the cafe which is housed in an old house has a small menu but made with quality ingredients (some from the gardens) we had the scones with jam and double cream and a pot of tea each then spent some time wandering the gardens then sitting on a bench under an arch for an hour admiring the view and enjoying the winter sun and peacefulness of the place. Worth the $10 entry fee for the whole family. We will definitely return.
A large part of the gardens is undergoing refurbishment/repair. What remained of the gardens that is open is "okay".
In terms of the nursery part, I think there was a lot less on offer for sale compared to our last visit there 9 years ago. The Olinda outlet is far superior.
Stopped in for some morning tea. After paying $40 entry fee for 4 people, we were very disappointed with the hot (cold) chocolate and lattes that was extremely milky with little to no flavour. The scones was the only saving grace. Would not come back or recommend
Finally visited Heronswood!
It's an interesting house (1874 Gothic Revival) with some fantastic old trees. The garden has been planted with succulents and we liked their grey/green colours.
We then drove to Portsea for dinner at the Portsea Hotel - suggest booking a table with direct views over the bay. Portsea is beautiful.
An opportunity to purchase seed for unusual varieties of pumpkin and corn. There's a good selection of heirloom varieties of many edibles. I should have stayed longer and enjoyed the gardens and cafe. Amazing Ocean views from Mt Martha for those who have never been. Don't forget to visit Arthur's seat. Make a wonderful day of it for the family.
Beautiful garden, gorgeous cafe and lovely shop. A beautiful outing with family and loved ones. I visited with my son and puppy daughter for Mother’s Day and loved the family vibe. Will definitely return in future.
Ps the scones are delicious
Still a really nice garden to visit, but looked a little neglected when we visited this time. Perhaps the staffing numbers have been affected by Covid?
Great little place to visit if your wanting to purchase a plant or have a cup of coffee, there is a very simple menu at the cafe and the gardens were very nice. There is a large fig tree, huge vegetable garden and flowers to look at. Kid friendly so they can run around and explore.
Beautiful garden, and the volunteer staff were great and helpful, made our visit really enjoyable. Great facilities as there is a Cafe for dining and garden shop for those who would like to purchase some of the beautiful plants and garden products. Great walk in tranquil surroundings.
Cafe was great, with good food, service & price. The gardens were a little bit of a let down, not much on display.
I really liked this space. Some seriously lovely plants and pots. Great range and very friendly staff
