I took 2 of my friends here for the Very Vegan Valentines dinner!
My friends had never eaten vegan so convinced them to come and pay the expensive price because I expected it would be amazing since the price… I’ve never had worse food. We paid $70 each and our meals came out on shared plates in the middle of the table so we ended up having the smallest servings each. Only 1 out of the 5 courses was edible. We were all so disgusted with the food we ended up barely eating it. FINALLY dessert came around and the waitress put one plate with a small chocolate brownie in the middle of the table and walked away. We thought he’d bring over 2 more brownies so we waited… and waited before asking him where the other 2 were and he replied saying “that’s your dessert to share”
We had 1 small spoonful which unfortunately tasted gross anyways.
I was only in Melbourne on a holiday and had extended my stay an extra day for this “Very Vegan coursed meals” and was so extremely upset with the whole thing.

We left hungry and ended up getting something to eat afterwards.
The service was good to begin with and then we never saw or talked to staff for the whole time. We waited over an hour to begin with to get the food and between the courses we waited over an hour.
I’d recommend not doing here for a vegan feed!

Went for a lunch with some work colleagues, Barry and the crew were fantastic. We were warmly welcomed and nothing seemed to be too much effort for them. Not many beers on tap but a great wine selection and fantastic food. Already looking forward to my next visit!

I’d been to Henry and the Fox a few times, and they consistently delivered delicious meals that were great for both brunch/lunch and dinner. Service was also always friendly and prompt, and the venue was great for after-work drinks and any large gatherings.

Came to Melbourne for the day and stopped off here before an appointment. I had the baked Brie and a red wine. Food was lovely, the Brie had a delicious hint of Rosemary and the pita had tasty herbs and spices. Lovely service also.

Grumpy waiter came to me with a bad welcoming attitude, when I asked him for his manager he said '' I don't have one''

Food was OK, beer was the usual pale ale styles. Place itself was busy with room for 70 or 80 people. I prefer individuality and different beers, so not my kind of place.

Food was ok, what I would have expected. General service of drinks was good but our food order took over an hour to come out. It was busy but we'll had to ask where our food was. A bit disappointed that I was unable to have a tab and pay at the end for all our guests, the ordering had to be done online and paid for each seperate order, so everytime you wanted another drink. It'll make claiming my expenses difficult

Great food, friendly staff, prompt service. Dog friendly seating out front in the covered and heated area. Gluten free options. Recommended.

Henry and the Fox provides a delectable menu, i think especially targetted to vegan or vegetarian customers.
The salad portions from mains menu are huge. The burgers in vegan patty, beef patty and chicken patty are normal. I always end up having chicken burger due to the tasty patty.

Great food and environment. Had the Wagyu Rump steak, and it was grilled well and came out rare as requested. Loved the sweet potato chips on the side. Staff were friendly and attentive. Prices are not too bad, a little bit high but typical of this level of restaurant.

Great bottomless lunch which was very filling for 2 people. Location is outside but with plenty of shade from the trees in a quiet street of the CBA.

A group of 5 of us went in for dinner and drinks and there was one staff member who was rude and short with each of us during the evening. We ordered and paid for everything as we went. As we went to leave he came out and in front of 30 odd people accused us loudly of not paying for part of our meal. Embarrassingly, we all produced receipts and bank records and his only response was "Oh they must not have cashed it off then, I'll sort it out". No apology, no tact and we definitely won't be returning. Plenty of other fabulous places in Melbourne, spend your money elsewhere.

Was served a cuppuccino here one morning and it was served cold. Went back the next morning thinking "well- that was probably just a mistake by the staff" and was served another another cuppuccino that was luke warm. My other colleagues also remarked the same.

A friend and I booked dinner at Henry and the Fox before we went to see a show in town.

The Fork had 50% off food, which is a fantastic deal.

As soon as we walked in, I was already impressed - the atmosphere was beautiful and the place was full of suited corporate workers at the end of a busy Thursday.

We got seated at our Reserved table straight away and shortly water and menus followed.

Our waitress was fantastic. She asked us what the plan for the evening is and, when we told her we’re going to the theatre, she checked what time and where we had to be there and said she’ll ensure we get looked after as a priority, so we’re not late. This was entirely her own initiative, which was above and beyond our expectations.

The menu looked very attractive and she was happy to offer some recommendations.

As we arrived during Happy Hour, I wanted to try our the Espresso Martini. I asked her what it’s like and she advised that some people find it a bit sweet and, if I don’t like sweet, I may not be happy. Before I managed to say anything, she had already gone to the bar, poured be a sip to taste, and brought it back to me. Once again - above and beyond! I said, “What about some Gin & Tonic? ” Minutes later, I had a massive glass of Strawberry Beefeater and Dry Tonic - it was delicious. My friend got a great Virgin Mojito.

I was tempted by the Squid Ink Linguine, which is served with Pipis, Calamari, and Baby Octopus and has just the right amount of Chilli in it.

My friend got a Minute Steak, cooked to perfection, and accompanied by Chips and a Salad.

I wish we had more time, so we could’ve tasted some more of the food, but we’ll definitely be back.

I’m a fan!

Upon walking into this restaurant, it seemed like a warm oasis from the cold city air on a Saturday arvo. First waitress was courteous though we did wait a while for the menu and the place was almost empty. She was lovely and apologetic so no full critique there. When the next waitress came along to take our order my handbag was all of a sudden wobbling about (I had it balancing on an umbrella that was neatly tucked away beside me). 'Just had to move your umbrella so no one trips over' she says abruptly. I look down and around me thinking, no one was around to trip on it firstly and I didn't think my umbrella poked out that much at all if we are going to nit pick about it. Next it was my friend's turn. She wanted to order some wine. Before she ordered I believe she asked the difference between the two Wine's and the waitress said that the more expensive one was definitely the better choice. My friend asked if the dearer wine was fruitier and the waitress had no idea. She offered a taste and described the wine in a detailed fashion which might have even been mistaken as helpful if it weren't for the huffish and puffish, Basil Fawlty attitude about her description that was unwelcoming and seemed to be compensating for the fact that she was deep down wishing she worked at The Ritz hotel (P. S if you're reading this, there's still hope for you darling). In the end my friend preferred the taste of the less expensive wine.
Next came another waitress who we thought might have been the manager. We were approached by her while deciding what we wanted to eat. She asked if we were planning on getting anything on the breakfast menu (which was to stop in ten minutes). We both confirmed we would not be ordering from that part of the menu and we were close to making our order when she abruptly removed the menus from us. I was thinking of ordering the chicken katsu burger. But.then the new menus arrived. My friend asked is the burger was on there and it was. I'm not sure why she did that so dramatically when we had confirmed we were ordering from the regular side of the menu anyway? Seemed they had some secret code for etiquette that was foreign to other eateries in Melbourne! Bizarre. The very same lady came around us a few times, must have heard us talking about the service and then gave me the death stare.in her last interaction with us she had appeared to have changed her attitude - her saving grace. Finally, my friend accidentally spilt her wine and the waitress who hated on my umbrella and my friend's wine choice saw it and turned her back. By this time the restaurant was still not busy. The service is. Drum roll please. Atrocious. The food OK. The Creme Brulee ordered by my friend was more like a custard tart like texture. My sweet potato fries were nice. I'm quite surprised by the high star reviews here based on this consistently awkward and unwelcoming experience we had.

I like the calamari fritti.the slow cooked lamb is really big size, and the potato mash in the dish is very tasty.
