Hedgeley Dene Garden reviews
37 Hedgeley Dene Garden, located on Kardella Street and Glenbrook Avenue (off Wattletree Road) is one of Malvern's most attractive and popular gardens. The garden, amidst a number of beautiful homes, extends along what was once a watercourse alignment.
In a classic English landscaping style, the garden has well established and maintained lawns, deciduous and evergreen trees and an ornamental lake. Hedgeley Dene Garden, is a perfect place to take time out and relax, great for kids and dogs are also welcome.
Stunning little oasis in the midst of the Stonnington busyness. Kudos to the grounds-keepers.
There is a large area of open water so be mindful with young children here. I have so many wonderful memories here from when I was a tiny takka and it hasn't changed a bit.
Extremely well kept by Stonnington council, this is a perfect location for locals to picnic or even just have a stroll. Ducks and other native birds are in abundance, adding to the relaxing environment.
Beautiful local park. Wedding photos not allowed here. The small 'creek' and paths are fun to bring children to.
Lovely place. Great for a drink and a cheese board, or great to take the kids and play with the ducks.
Lovely place to sit and relax with kids. The small lake has ducks and other birds and there are public toilets
Lovely place with a pond, waterfall and small arching bridges. Winding paths through dense greenery. Benches to sit, though I've seen people sit on the lawn by the water, too. So peaceful and inviting
Small but beautiful gardens, very well-maintained and good for a short walk. Beautiful greenery all around!
I think I only went through here once but it left a good impression!
A good variation of open and shady areas, some twisty paths around the pond - a little bit of habitat for the local birds:)
Saw a very cool waterbird I couldn't get a good pic of, but I was very happy just to see it.
Lovely park. Probably only a km or so end to end, but beautifully maintained with a little lake at one end. Street parking only, but it seemed east enough to park. Benches here and there on which to sit and chat, or read or just to catch a quiet moment. A few short trails to explore at the lake end, as well as (always appreciated) toilets.
Beautiful gardens with a small little lake with ducks and big leafy trees and a small little waterfall. Like an old english garden. Small but beautiful.
Looks much better in spring. Water cascade & winding paths & ample grassy open space. The reed ponds have yellow irises at this time of year.
Under canopy of mighty oaks & weeping chinese elms are definitely the features.
Kids can run free with no barriers or signs saying keep off. Dogs on leash allowed & poo bags stations at entry points. Toilets onsite.
Nice enough for a wander & for kids to play/
cycle but probably needs more thought to the plantings. Too much of the feral acanthus mollis growing everywhere.
The best park that I have found in Melbourne. We came here a few weeks ago for a picnic by the lake and it was wonderful. The ducks were great. We then rode around the bike tracks. Really nice park.
This area has always been a lovely green haven, quiet and away from the grief of traffic.
A real haven, though with more people during covid.
Hedgeley Dene is one of the prettiest manicured public garden in the eastern suburbs. Built around 1924, this garden is very popular among the young and old. It is easy to walk around, very quiet and peaceful. A great place to relax and read a book on the bench, watch the ducks or picnic with friends and family on the lawn. The garden used to be so popular with couples wanting to capture the special wedding moments that the wedding parties edged out all other visitors on weekends. The local council has since banned wedding photography at Hedgeley Dene to allow peaceful enjoyment once more.
We just discovered this park. It's by far the most beautiful park I've ever been to in Melbourne. It is designed with such character and quaintness. So many areas surrounded by trees that adds a feeling of privacy. Just gorgeous. Sandra and Marjorie
Beautiful linear park. Well cared for, with a small lake, large old trees and a range of flowers and plants, a walking path, grassy areas good for a picnic and another grassy area good for casual ball games.
A wonderful place to relax, or come for a picnic. Magnificent trees and thoughtful woodland plantings.
A quiet garden with a great little lake. Good for a short walk or a picnic. Plenty of space for children to run around or play ball. Toilet block is near to lakeside path. Dogs on leads only.
FYI: few seats, no table furniture, no water.
A hidden garden perfect for a relaxing picnic or outdoor family gathering. A true secret in the heart of Malvern East with a mini path if you’re looking for a quick stroll. Also a possible photography location for the budding photographer as it has a mini waterfall in the middle
