Felt compelled to write a review of hectors because they just made me the best sandwhich I’ve ever had. Beef & pickles toastie, get it, sit down in a quiet spot and savor it. Unbelievable

Coffee was nice too

Taking photos when visiting a place, especially when it has a good vibe and you want to review and share it, is a common practice in today's digital world. However, I encountered an unexpected interaction with a staff member who yelled at me for taking photos, which was really odd to me because I were not intruding on anyone's personal space or being disrespectful in anyway. However, this place is insane, they have the best tuna sandwich I tried ever! I went there 3 times in my visit to Melbourne just for the yummy tuna sandwich. I recommend you give it a try and sneak taking pictures ;p don’t let the lady with the glasses sees you

Visited for the 1st time and loved it! Worth the hype. Definitely recommend the beef and pickle, and the mushroom sandwich. Can’t go wrong with either.

Avoid the chicken sandwich as it’s very soggy/oily and has no crunch with an odd seasoning taste, but everything else I tried was delicious.

The beef & pickles sandwich was delicious! Beef was tender and juicy, the hector sauce and cheese added a nice kick of flavor.
We also ordered fried chicken sandwich but it was too oily and greasy for my taste, and it lacked the crispy texture that I was expecting.
(The place was packed on Saturday morning and there were no seats, takeaway would be better)

Yum! Not the best sandwiches ever but certainly delicious.

Had the chicken schnitzel which was very crispy and saucy. Definitely didn’t need that much chicken but appreciate it for the price.

The beef and pickle it was a bit heavy, good but not incredible.

The beef sando bangs. Accidentally added all the extras because I couldn't hear what the waiter was saying but worth the extra $4. Just not much seating.

Believe the hype. The best sandwiches we've ever had. Service was fast and staff are very friendly. I was quite indecisive, but front end staff were helpful and patient. The beef and pickle was decadent and filling, the fried chicken was delicious and refreshing. We also got fries and coffee and they were all superb. Awesome value for such quality food. We rolled out of there having eaten so much.
Tempted to chuck a sickie tomorrow so we can try the rare beef.

Horrified to see that staff did NOT change gloves when handling meat then roasted vegetables - made me quite disgusted after having eaten a roasted eggplant sandwhich that was vegetarian. Staff must change gloves appropriately, especially when soaked in roasted meat that might end up in a vegetable sandwhich.

The food is great! Lovely staff - hard to get a seat at times.

One of the best breakfast places. Really liked the sausage, egg & cheese sandwich!

Simple, but delicious, bang for your buck.

As for the toasties, interesting choices with loads of ingredients.

If you are wanting to dine, here tables are limited but worth the wait to enjoy your sandwich freshly toasted and hot.

On a weekday not a breakfast time, food preparation is kinda slow for me. Not much people though. Somehow hard to get parking space here.

I am not the person who like sandwich normally bit I must say this place really makes the best one.

We ordered the beef pickles and the tuna melt toasts. They were super delicious.

We'll come back again next time.

Such an amazing place for lunch! I got the vegan sandwich salad, it was soooo good, the sauce was incredible! The service was lovely too, thank you Jesse and the rest of the gang! I’ll be back soon:)

You know when you watch an advert and they show food that looks so good it must be fake. Well, when my sandwich came out it looked like the perfect sandwich - fake food on an advert level perfect.

“There’s no way it’s going to taste as good as it looks”.

But it did, it did taste as good as it looked. I think I just ate the perfect sandwich.

I got the beef and pickles sandwich with the potato salad and wooow, it was delicious! My friend got another sandwich and she loved it as well! The fries were so tasty, and it's not pictured, but we got to try the hector sauce as well and it was too dreamy!

Delicious sandwiches - I had to come back and take some home (at another time). I also have the ones taken home pictured. Got the beef and pickles with hector sauce inside (smashed it once again) and then tried the fried chicken! It was massive, but yummy.

The best sandwiches and doughnuts I have ever eaten the tuna melt is crazy good! Little gem of a place! Got a pic of my friends ham and cheese

I was really unexpressed
Really acidic and salty, sloppy and just unimpressive.
3 people ordered 3 different sandwiches and none of us could finish them due to the above. All were left hungry
$50+ for 3 toasted sandwiches…. Nah.

Not as exciting as people have made out. Little expensive for fancy toasties than they need to be. Staff were lovely.

Went early to avoid the queues (well, that and we were super hungry). Was greeted with a smile by people who clearly love their jobs. Got a few toasties. Fantastic and good value for the amount of meat/cheese showed in them.

The donut just made it even better. Can't recommend it enough.
