Heartswood

I had eaten breakfast at Heartswood three or four times and always had an amazing experience. The staff is always amazing and I seem to get lucky and always have a chance to say hello to the amazing Aleisha. Last Saturday I took friends for dinner, and it was incredible. The chef makes unique dishes that all hit the mark. The tartare was worth fighting over. Also, the pork chop was hands down the best pork I have ever had. I can't recommend Heartswood strongly enough.

Very warm place, good welcome. Excellent cuisine, a real treat.

Best coffee I have had in a long time. The obligatory Avo was delicious and the St. John’s mushrooms was very good as well.

Unfortunately we had a terrible service experience here today. After half an hour they realised they forgot our coffees and then still didn’t bring us any again after discussing we didn’t get them yet. So they forgot twice. After the kids finished food, 50 minutes later, we left. I was so disappointed as all I wanted was my morning coffee. We told them when we left to pay that we got no coffees, not one much seemed to care. Bad service here. Kids stood around the back counter talking mostly. All this other customers put back were waiting too, being ever so patience.

Poor service (most likely understaffed).

Showed up for a 12: 15pm booking. Waited for table to be cleaned, sat down, not given any menus. 3 staff in total waiting and running the till. Not allowed to order "out of turn". By the time our food arrived it was past 1: 15pm.

There were empty tables the whole time we were there, and dirty tables left untouched for a long time.

What a lovely setting this restaurant has. Every meal was sumptuous and delcisious. Great service and amazing coffee. Even though the restaurant was full our food came out pretty quickly.

Awesome food and service. Everything we had for breakfast tasted delicious. The thick cut bacon was fabulous. The duck, eggs, hasbrown, tomato relish etc.all tasted great. The service was also top notch. We truly enjoyed the breakfast at this cozy place.

Very pleasant and happy to be in cafe.friendly staff. Reasonably priced.very tasty breakfast and coffee.

I went there with my family. We sit on a table and see the menu. No one came to us.
After 5 mins a lady who with full of tattoo on her body, came to us and said "sorry. Kitchen is closed. " Then she took our menus.
We looked other tables, they still ordered lunch.

This is a terrible experience.
I feel like i was being racist.

Got food here while stopping by. Service was super fun and lovely. The staff were really doing a fantastic job to create a welcoming casual environment.
Drinks were delicious. I had the handmade soda and it was really good. Food was yummy too.

We stoped at Heartwood for some takeaway coffee and cake while on our way to Mansfield. Nice little café restaurants with a great vibe and a good looking menu. I loved the old architectural building, when you step inside it takes you back in time. We ordered takeaway coffee and hot chocolate and some cake for the kids.coffee was great, although it took over 30 mins to get the coffee. Love to come back for a meal and enjoy the colonial vibe of the place.

Another AMAZING night at Heartswood. Very lucky to have such a wonderful chef in Matt Binney here close in the Yarra Glen area! You absolutely have to have his tasting menu. HEAVEN ️

Spectacular meal, totally exceeded our expectations. The items we chose were items you’d find regularly on menus elsewhere- fried potato/hash brown, beef tartare, meat filled buns, pork main. But at Heartswood all the dishes were elevated by an extra something: the fried potato with caviar and cream, beef tartare with puffed rice and smoked eel cream, Waygu donuts with bbq sauce and smoked pork neck as a main. Absolutely on par if not better than many fine dining spots I’ve been to. Service was also warm and friendly and efficient (even with a function going on at the same time). Thank you and we’ll definitely be back!

My wife and l had lunch here. The Wagu Burger and Chicken Schnitz was to die for. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Well done!

My husband and I had a delicious dinner at the Heartwood. The chef seems to be very knowledgeable and creative. Their food is designed either to share or individual served. If you decide to share like we did it’s bonus because you can try more items in the menu. We loved the brisket doughnut and stake dish although everything was superb made with fresh ingredients.
The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable too. It also seems like the chef encourages them to learn about the dishes because they could explain well and give us advice on quantity to order.
Highly recommended!

I have never had a bad meal here. Food is absolutely amazing and the menu changes regularly to give variety! The staff are excellent and the drinks are great! Best place to go for dinner in Yarra Glen

Absolutely amazing food. What a privilege to dine at Heartswood. We will have very fond memories of our 22nd wedding anniversary. Thanks and hope to return again!

Absolutely beautiful experience: - the venue is full of character, the service is warm & friendly and the food was healthy full of flavour and utterly delicious. We will absolutely be back.
