Lux Grilled Pork Banh Mi
Heartbaker Bun Mee is an authentic Vietnamese cafe serving up fresh traditional street food. Their full menu is based on family recipes, featuring their signature Banh Mi, rice paper rolls, noodle dishes and hearty salads.
I went for the Lux Grilled Pork Banhi Mi and it’s sitting firmly in my Top 2 in Melbourne. The bun itself is perfection, a fresh, crispy, buttery, tiger roll that’s soft and fluffy on the inside. The pork was next level crispy and there was no fat at all. For lean lovers this was a giant tick from me. Everything was in proportion and worked well.
I think it could have had a little extra flavour to make it a 5, but it’s very close to it. I almost went for another one straight after - I’ve been thinking about it all week. The banh mi are $12.50 each and worth every cent.

Great deal for some really nice bánh mì and pho. Often a gets super busy but that’s clearly a good indication that it’s pretty great.
A very very amazing bahnmi and spring rolls! The crackling pork is very crispy and juicy. Very authentic.
Crispy pork bahn mi, should have listened to the comment before about this having fusion taste instead of authentic Vietnamese.
Super efficient and reasonably priced! I found the crispy pork was good but a bit ordinary, not particularly different from any other bahn mi I've had.the viet iced coffee is essentially a milkshake, which was a bit too milky for me, but that comes down to personal preference.if you want a coffee milkshake for iced coffee price, I'd recommend? Just a small thing, but I think it would be good to give a napkin with the takeaway, since it's so saucy. Bread was delish!
Crispy pork with Hoisin sauce. One of the best banh mi in the city. Tucked in a tiny lane, don’t miss this one. They recently up’d their prices and this now cost $11.8. Make it a combo with Vietnamese coffee
Absolutely the best Bahn Mi I've ever eaten! Love the food, place, and people at Heartbaker! Definitely a must try
Oh em gee! Amazing! Literally the best I’ve seen. Get the crispy pork Bahn Mi. You won’t be sorry
Great place for lunch, would recommend the bahn mi and pho combo! Always quite busy with city workers, but service is still good and reasonably quick.
Delicious! All the things I look for in tasty Vietnamese food. Vietnamese mint pickled carrot crispy spring rolls and vegan options
Got a good review from my friend and we did come here for lunch todeiiii. I have to say that the food are really really good. I and my wife had Crispy Pork and Tofu bahn mi and I must say It is the best Vietnamese roll I have ever had in Melbourne. Highly recommend!
Good customer service?
Amazing foods
We will definitely come back
Crispy pork is good. Grilled pork and grilled chicken are just ok. Grilled chicken was more like roast chicken (similar to those at coles / Woolies) wasn’t used to it.
Banh mi is pricey and not worth it but there aren’t many other decent options in the cbd
Great tasting Banh Mi (Vietnamese Pork Rolls). The baguettes were perfectly served, soft on the inside and crusty on the outside. They aren’t your typical Banh Mi, but man they are good!
In Scott Alley, you will get great Veggie Spring Rolls, and friendly service.
Good menu options.
I wasn’t really impressed with the taste of the “Lux Grilled Pork” Bun Mee. The meat tasted flat and with so many other Bun Mee stores in Melbourne, I’ve had much better tasting Grilled Pork Bun Mee’s.
The location of Heartbaker is cool, packed away in a little alleyway. The service was fast. The other elements of the Bun Mee were pretty decent, just the meat, didn’t really excel.
Quite literally the best báhn mì I've ever eaten. I had the crispy roast pork and it was to die for. Not quite the regular style than you get around town as they bake a unique báhn but this is hands down the best id ever had. Strange it had no chilli though. Had to wait in line obviously because they're so good but worth the wait. I added a prawn and avocado rice paper roll as part of their special but that was a let down.
3 stars on rice paper roll and 6 out of 5 stars on the báhn mì. I just hope they stop putting their prices up.
Tastes good, had a combo pork bun and pho all ill say is the portion size is too small (size of a coffee cup) for the pho, it lacks for portion size that's it
Wish I visited here sooner when I was working in CBD, though the flavors are not traditional, the crispy pork is certainly delicious!
Living in Melbourne for a year now just wishing that a good Vietnamese place would open nearby, well finally my prayers were answered.
While it may not be the most traditional Vietnamese place it definitely is one of the best.
The Jurassic Classic bun mee is to die for and easily is the best roll of any kind that I have had during my time here in Melbourne.
Service is always friendly and the food is always on point.
I have returned and will return as often as I can!
Had the Crispy Pork Banh Mi, which tasted delicious. The bread and the flavours were perfect. Will definitely be going back to try more of the menu options available. It is walking distance from Flinders Street station
