Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre reviews
33 One of the best place to train for swimming, open all year, good concession and free for swinburne students.
Has 20m indoor pool and a outdoor olympic size 50m pool️️.
Big pools, complete gym facilities with decent cardio equipments. The changing room is always clean. However, staff can be a bit more friendly.
EDIT: NO LONGER A CAREFREE SPACE. WARNING WOMENS CHANGING ROOM THEFT. Have been visiting this pool since 2 years ago, always lock phone and keys, but never the shower items and changed clothes. MY SHOWER BAG WAS STOLEN TODAY AT THE WOMENS CHANGING ROOM 20 NOV 2019 BETWEEN 20: 00-20: 37.nice pool with warm water shower. Parking is free after 6pm
A decent swim pool with good facilities and lane space. The outdoor pool is the only pool you can properly swim laps in so I would advise swimmers to go there only. The gym is also extremely pricey. The staff may sometimes be unkind and it appears that they do not want to be there, but usually they are nice enough and will assist you. The change rooms are good for the men, however the showers are extremely cold and weak. There are sometimes people hanging around and smoking, so you may get smoke in your lungs and though there is nothing that the leisure centre can do about this issue as the people smoke on public land, it is not the nicest experience whilst swimming.
Great group exercise instructors and great group program rooms!
If you are a swimmer though, you might find the indoor pool wanting. (It's on the small side)
A gym to join especially if you are on a concession card, otherwise it does cost a pretty penny.
My complaint is also that none of the staff ever seems to know who is teaching which group class/ or if the class is even still running, if there is a change.
Attendees often have to chase up the issue themselves with individual instructors.
Good location, good facilities and equipment, staff ok, but overpriced unless you're planning to constantly go to the gym and pool. $55.75 per fortnight (after a $99 joining fee), without the convenience of 24/7 access!
This place is pretty nice on a hot day.
Has a pool obviously, and a gym. They have some shop where you can buy something to eat if you need to. There’s a gym upstairs but I think it’s way overpriced if you aren’t a member.
The kids learn to swim while you ncstch up on GOT if you decided you were totally anti popular culture and are desperate to involve yourself in water cooler conversations regarding what happens next with Bran. Ooops spoiler alert.
A female life guard isn't friendly. In the morning it always aged people are having classes then kids come at about 4pm. It's a small swimming pool.
Unpleasant experience.
Very rude life guard and insulting supervisor. Will do complaint letter to the center.
I took my 9 year old son to 1 meter sallow swimming pool, as outside deeper pool closed during winter or raining weather day. The lifeguard was so rude. I could understand it is the parents duty to look after the kid, and I asked my son to come closer to me to sit on the edge of the pool next to me, while I had to continue to finish my online quiz on the phone for the last 5 mins! She determined to expel us out to the swimming pool aggressively after I explained my situation. I’m very disappointed after I asked to talk to the supervisor, she was even as young as the life guard and she talked to me like a 5 year old, accusing me sitting on the steps where the spa runs, rather than out of the water (it’s winter!). There is no sign of no phone using in the pool. It is literally offensive for their requirements.
It is ashamed the swimming Centre in such a good location, but the staff have no knowledge of customer service, they don’t understand caring and they are not kids friendly. My son actually said he doesn’t want go back ever again.
Great facilities, helpful staff, great location with lots of available parking spots and also close to trams/trains. Can't really ask for much more!
Had my child book in for swimming classes was getting sick in the winter months so wanted to cancel just for the winter. Was told I had to pay for another 2 weeks which was fine but I had 2 make up lessons as we went away on holiday usually which can be made up in other classes. So I asked if I could use those. Credits for the last 2 weeks. Reception told me it would not be fair to use the make up if my child was not going to attend. Then after that proceeded to say cant use the make up lessons because that would be treated as a credit. Not sure what the difference is I'd my child did a make up lesson in another class as she would still be using the Credit.
Also if your child is sick you need a doctor's certificate which can be used for 2 weeks. 2 swimming lessons cost $32.50 a doctor's appointment cost $70. Does not make any sense. Won't be going back
If the place had a sauna/steam room, I would have given it 5 stars. The space is good for workouts and their memberships automatically include group fitness classes. Plenty of equipment but one of the best parts are the unlimited free consults and updates provided to hone your workout and mix it up. Gym and pool facilities are clean and airy.
Downsides are the opening hours, closing before 10pm.and the limited locations, being council based. The cost is also not the cheapest. The quality and flexibility is good though.
