Hastings Fish & Chip Shop reviews
42Great food, great service. I recommend the half dozen calamari and half serve chips for $8!
Maybe they just had a bad day, but.
We've got the wrong order to begin with so went back, then they forgot the sauce & lemon. So went back again.
There are only two choices for dips: tomato or some sort of mayo with so much vinegar in it, you can't taste anything else.
The fish was alright but the chips were undercooked, very floury & dry in the middle, however hungry we were we just couldn't finish it and thrown out about a quarter of it. (1 small chips shared between 2.)
The burger was about the same quality as something from a certain big chain. The bun was very dry. The meat patty also and of average size and bland.
Eating a good burger means your hands will be messy. After this I only ended up with some dry breadcrumbs here and there, still hungry and regrets for not going somewhere else.
(Also no napkins are packed with take away.)
The only positive thing is that the food is cheap.
My apologies if my comment is harsh but after such a first impression unfortunately I won't be going back for sure.
Have eaten here many times over many years. It's very worth the journey from FTG.
FLAKE $7: 50 really tasted like you wanted. Unlike my own area with a cost of $9: 90. The chips were sensational. Golden in colour and so fluffy on the inside. Absolutely a 10/10 experience.
Great family looking after you when ordering and picking up your food. Very friendly experience and top fish and chips.
Some people say good fish & chip shops are judged by there chips & others say for there fish, but for me it's the scallops!
They were very yummy as is there fish & chips, might l suggest there potatoe cakes too, O' there so good
If we are talking about NED'S (Asian guy) he and his family do excellent value for money, great food. Excellent value.
Hands down the best fish and chips I have ever had. $12.50 for a fish burger with the lot! Great service on top of that as well. All round, a great experience. Would highly recommend!
Always ready fast and the best quality. Best chip shop in vic! Defintely recommend. The chips are perfect, not to oily, soft and crispy at the same time
5 Stars! Staff are amazing! Family run business who know good fish n chips! Love the kiwi style crispy batter fish and the burger with the lot is on a another level! If you are a kiwi that misses nz fish n chips make your way here. Shout out to the crew!
Have never had a bad order here yet. Souvlakis are amazing, fried fish as not greasy or dry and the chips are delicious
Best fish n chips I've had for a long time! It's our go to whenever we have take away. They also received an award for runners up on the peninsula last year
Friendly team, fresh fish and very reasonably priced. Only ten mins away from Somers and well worth it!
Really great fish souvlaki, and very generous in size compared to many other shops. I had fried fish in mine, but I suppose you could get grilled fish too. Highly recommended.
The best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten at. Usually after eating fish and chips you get that greasy average feeling in the belly but this fish and chips shop uses great oil, fresh product and I feel awesome after eating.
The staff is super friendly and they are very accurate on times.
I will always be a returning customer.
I had the Whiting (deep fried) and it has perfectly cooked. The batter was rather light, so too was the battered Mussels and a premo potato cake alongside. Joint seemed a lil run down.but, took my feed away to the nearby waters Mussels weren't Green Lip. But, all in all-8.2/10
Hastings Seafood Fish and Chippery is in the main shopping strip in the small town of Hastings on Westernport Bay.
Friendly prompt service and the prices were very reasonable.
We ordered the family pack, $29, which would easily feed 5 -6 hungry adults.
Pickled onions were delicious and crispy, generously sized for $1, and the Tartare sauce was also delicious. Flake was excellent with a beautiful light crispy batter, freshly cooked, golden crispy chips, some of the best potatoes Cakes I've ever had.
Fried dimmies were only OK, a little dry, but still tasty. Overall REALLY excellent fish and chips and very well priced with quick, friendly service.
Nearby Frank Smith Park is a great place to enjoy the bounty on a fine day.
Surprisingly not a single annoying Seagull trying to nick our food! Highly recommended!
Hands down the best fish and chips in Hastings! We’ve tried all of the fish and chip places in Hastings some have been hit and miss but this place takes the cake…Ordered the yummy lamb souvlaki, fish and chips with crab sticks everything cooked well even the chips were tasty! We will be back next time for sure
Great fish, tender fish with crispy batter and not oily, potato cakes were just as good. Love this place, it never disappoints.
Asked for a souvlaki with nothing but lettuce, tomato, onion and garlic aioli. This is not what I received.
We also asked for the fish and fishcake to be separated from the chips.what we received was the battered flake laying on top of the chips and the fishcake buried amongst the chips.
So delicious and fresh. The fish I had was grilled perfectly and the others had battered which was lovely and light. The chips were crunchy on the outside but beautifully fluffy on the inside.amazingly friendly and generous owners and staff. Best fish and chips we have had for years! We will be back!
