Hallam Square Fish N Chips

Their food is absolutely exquisite and fantastic as far as fish and chips go. And that is getting the gluten free option. We had some gluten intolerances in the family and their food is absolutely delicious. It is fantastic to have sucu good gluten safe food prepared so excellently.

The shop was very clean and ambient. The chicken nuggets and chilli chicken strips were juicy, crispy, and cooked to perfection. The burger was delicious and filling. We also ordered fish flakes and chips, which were also crispy and fresh. Highly recommended!

We’ve been buying our fish and chips from Hallam Square for some time and usually it’s beautifully cooked and the fish is fresh and potato cakes are crispy and delicious. The gluten free version is really nice too. Tonight we were so disappointed the gluten free version was dark brown batter overcooked and the fish was pink not white sweet flake. And the normal fish and potato cakes were less than acceptable which has made me feel sick tonight. They were not off but may have been on the turn. Potato cakes were not crunch and the batter was flat and smelt different. Maybe they were off. Sorry but we won’t be back and change your oil it’s gone past it’s use by date.

On my first ever visit I Only ordered potato cakes and they were some of the best I've ever had.

Very ordinary chips, dim sims and potato cakes. Flake went straight into the bin, smelled and tasted off and was rubbery. Won’t be back I’m sorry. On the upside my wife’s gluten free option was really nice. Go figure

It is a decent place. I frequent this place for their Chicken Schnitzel Burger and Chips Combo. Ordered a few times already and they have been consistent throughout. The service has been exceptional and the take away is always ready in the said time. It is packed well and the prices are also fair.

Asked the young lady if they answer the phone and she said no

Usually great place to get Fish and chips. Not tonight. 2 pieces of Flake - 1 was ok, the other appeared to have a different batter and tasted like vomit. Opinion confirmed by person who had the ok piece of Flake. Even smelt off. Will be thinking twice before returning. 45mins after a tiny bite, still feeling the ugly side-effects of vomit tasting/smelling fish.

Great fish and chips, lovely family run business! Great gluten free options & cooked completely separately, labeled with a gluten free sticker.

Such friendly staff. Love the food and as a Coeliac can say I have never had any problems with their gluten free food.

Nothing's new with this place, chips and potato cakes were so so. Only a handful of these places use fresh cut chips, and potato cakes. Just happened to be in hallam and decided to try this place. The fish wasn't bad, so 2 stars.

Went last night after not being able to get through on the phone. Seems like they take the phone off the hook or something? Lined up for 10 minutes with 2 in front of me. The young guy served the two in front of me then left me standing there and went to cook & make up orders! I waited another 5 or so minutes & walked out. Ridiculous! Hire more staff, someone to take orders at least! 3 people is not enough! The food here is great, your unorganisation lets you down.

Gluten Free, that was the reason we first went there as my wife is coeliac. But the service and quality of the food keeps us going back.
Service with a smile too.

I am celiac and I've never had any issues when buy gluten free here, separate fryer and the same person working on gluten free so avoiding cross contamination 100% the best fish and chips in all victoria

The family favourite Fish N Chip shop. Run by an amazing family who are the most friendly and polite people you would think they are your own family! The service is so good that you can't help but leave with a smile! Great crunchy chips, amazing chicken salt, awesome prices and lunch deals you cannot go wrong.

Fantastic gluten and dairy free fish and chips menu. The GF dim sims, beef croquettes etc.are home made and taste better than normal ones by a long mile! And you couldn't find nicer people - very friendly.

Just grabbed a quick snack box of chips and was utterly impressed just by how well presented and clean this place was! The chips were generous and delicious - proper thick cut. Very friendly owner. Will be keeping it in mind for a proper feed next time.
