Not fresh sashimi, salmon look pale and tuna sashimi taste fishy, not fresh at all but the tempura is okay.

Delicious food, friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. The food was so good! We will be back!

Fantastic Japanese restaurant! The bento boxes and don dishes are absolutely delicious, especially the Katsu chicken—it's amazing! The cozy atmosphere and friendly customer service add to the charm. Everything is made fresh with love. Highly recommend a visit!

Had the pleasure of eating in and taking away multiple times. Staff are always delightful and the food is delicious! More importantly, portions are large for the price you pay. Highly recommend.

Excellent place to have a good Japanese lunch at this little cosy corner especially when it's not too busy. I normally order vegetarian Bento, which is excellent. There green is amazing

I need to give this eatery 5 star as they were so accommodating as we were 15mins late for our reservation.

The ambience of this restaurant gives you feel of a typical Japanese restaurant in Japan. It’s neatly spaced out, taking into the considerations of Covid social distancing measures. I didn’t had the time to inspect the restrooms as I was indulging myself in their hospitality and food.

A big kudos to the poor wait staff. It was a busy restaurant running dine-in and take-always simultaneously. She’s running the show like a headless chook but managed to find its cage successfully without any hiccups. She’s super cute and friendly. Nil complaint about the service rendered. She took care of us well though she was extremely busy.

My spicy chicken bento box was splendid and no complaints. Right price and right quantity. Taste and flavour trickled my olfactory well. The presentation was exemplary. My partner who doesn’t like to kill the poor animals had vegetable don and he said he was in ecstasy.

We highly recommend this place if you are at Essendon not for the footy. Price is justifiable for the service and food rendered.

A pleasant surprise from an unassuming restaurant. Great food and service. We will go back again. Ordered Karaage, gyoza, miso, prawn tempura udon, spicy chicken main, teriyaki chicken don. Everything delicious. Table next to us ordered large sushi plate. Looked great.

I ordered Teriyaki beef don and Chicken katsu don for my dinner around 8.20pm. I understand the staffs wanna go home earlier but they need to cook enough for customer as we paid them.
When I ate the vegetables in the beef don, it seems like the vege just come out from soil. It’s not fresh. It is just VEGE, if you plant the veges, they definitely must grow.
Also, the sauce was too poor. The sauce was only in the meat. So, the meat was salty and vege just come from coles or woolworths.
I was so disappointed and I don’t wanna order this shop.

Tonight we purchased our takeaway dinner. The order was for the teriyaki chicken bento box which was delicious. However, we also ordered the tuna sashimi and we were bitterly disappointed. The tuna was near frozen and inedible. Very disappointed indeed. I don’t understand how you could even allow the tuna to be served in this manner.

I've tried a lot of Japanese restaurants, this was by far the worst. I had the teriyaki beef yaki udon, I don't think the beef was even cooked properly as it had a disgusting texture, let alone the disappointing flavours. My husband had the seafood udon and a miso soup, they were also disappointing and the udon seemed to have a kick even though he specifically chose a non-spicy dish. Will not be back again.

Absolutely delicious. We had the Bento boxes- spicy chicken and unagi. Love the sushi and croquettes as well. Will be back to try out more food

My daughter and I discovered this restaurant today, and the food was so fresh and well put together. Light yet flavoursome. The service was typically Japanese quality and I would highly recommend to other diners. 20 star rating from both of us. Love Hakata!
