Hafez Persian Restaurant reviews
21 Great food, great customer service
Second visit 31 Dec 2022: great food and fantastic customer service. We celebrated the new years eve family dinner here.
Ordered Persian red wine and Persian gourmet cuisine from a great selection of Persian dishes available on the menu, we finished it off with some saffron Persian ice cream which was excellent.
Third visit 31 December 2023. Baghalie polo ba Mahi was really not to the standard I expected. Very dry fish. Fesenjoon was also not as good anymore. I’d say the quality of food has dropped since last year.
Ever since I step foot into this luxurious restaurant I knew this place is just for me with their extremely kind staff which makes you think you’re friends and the food was amazing especially the ghormeh sabzi
We ordered 5 different meals and all of them were very average. Nothing special about food. The bread the came with meals wasn’t fresh.
I recently dined at this exceptional restaurant and had an outstanding experience. From the warm and welcoming ambiance to the exquisite flavors in every dish, every aspect surpassed my expectations. The attentive staff added to the overall enjoyment, ensuring a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a delightful culinary adventure.
I was disappointed with the spongy, tasteless, and inedible koobideh. The soltani and negini lacked flavor, and the soltani was very stiff and not chewable. The service was terrible, with zero attention from servers; we had to get up to call someone over to place our initial order and had to do so again for dessert. Also, the wooden seats were rigid and uncomfortable, further detracting from the overall dining experience.
As soon as you enter Hafez, it feels like you have been transported to another place in the world.ceiling to floor curtains, large murals on the wall, stained glass windows - the decor was incredible.
The menu, heavily featuring lamb had plenty of options for char grilled meats as well as other main dishes, dips with bread, and sides.
We particularly enjoyed the Chenjeh (Lamb Back strap) - the spices and the way it was cooked was delicious. I would return here alone just for that dish.
Good experience overall. Good a good with a broad choice for entre, main and dessert. Staff are well mannered and friendly, but when the restaurant got busy, it was hard to get hold of a waiter as they were understaffed.
If you are looking for Persian Kebab and cuisines here is the best in Melbourne. The quality and taste is amazing with friendly and welcoming staff.

The odor in the restaurant's vicinity from the restroom was quite overpowering. It was even more unsettling to notice the unpleasant smell of the toilet merging with the aromas of the food while dining. This made me feel extremely embarrassed, especially since I had guests from another country with me. It was truly a disgraceful experience.
I sincerely vow never to return to this restaurant again, and I will take it upon myself to advise all my friends against visiting as well
"I recently visited Hafez Iranian restaurant with my family to celebrate my son's 17th birthday, and it was an amazing experience. The restaurant offers delicious Iranian food, prepared with fresh and high-quality ingredients. The taste of the dishes was exceptional, and we were truly impressed.
Not only was the food outstanding, but the customer service was also top-notch. Hamed, the manager, and his wife (Bahar) made sure that every guest felt special and well taken care of. Hamed's kindness and respectful demeanor towards everyone added a personal touch to our dining experience.
The ambiance of the restaurant was delightful, thanks in part to the pleasant and happy music playing in the background. It created a lively and enjoyable atmosphere for our celebration.
One of the best aspects of Hafez Iranian restaurant is that the prices are affordable, making it accessible to a wide range of customers. We were pleasantly surprised by the value we received for the quality of food and service.
Overall, I highly recommend Hafez Iranian restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Iranian cuisine in a welcoming and friendly environment. It's the perfect place for special occasions or simply a memorable dining experience. We will definitely be returning in the future. "
The red meat kebabs were awful—they lacked seasoning, had a terrible taste, and had a weird texture, unlike any kebab I’ve had, as if they used the cheapest ingredients available. On the other hand, the joojeh kebab was pretty decent and edible; it's probably the only thing I would eat again if I were to go back. The service was also terrible; we were never greeted upon entering, and we had to find the other half of our party ourselves. They never came to the table to take our order; we had to ask them to come to our table for both food and dessert. They also never bothered to check if we needed anything; it was almost as if they had no service. I got up once to ask a waiter for a straw; she said okay and walked right past me so I asked another waiter, and she gave one to me. Overall, don’t bother coming here; it's the worst Persian restaurant I’ve ever been to, and I usually don’t even write reviews!
There are better persian food in Melbourne. I had barg and my partner had fesenjun. The fesenjun was good but barg wasn't good. Plus they don't serve abgusht (dizi) which is persian signature. On the other handside the bread wasn't persian bread and was bad as well. It is too expensive for what you get
Excellent service, the Persian food felt like the Persian foods back in Iran! The environment was friendly
I had an amazing experience at Hafez Restaurant! The food was delicious, and the service provided by Hamed, the manager, was top-notch. The staff at Hafez Restaurant were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. They provided excellent service throughout my visit, and their warm and friendly demeanor added to the overall positive experience. I truly appreciated their hospitality. I highly recommend Hafez Restaurant!
Quality food and service. The owner is truly passionate about delivering the best service. If I could give more stars, I would.
I recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Hazef Persian restaurant in Melbourne, and it was truly a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for the evening.
The Dizi we ordered was an absolute delight – bursting with flavors and cooked to perfection. The traditional dishes we tried were a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to authentic Persian cuisine. The quality of the food exceeded our expectations, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the exceptional dining experience we enjoyed.
What truly stood out, however, was the impeccable service. The staff and manager were not only attentive but also remarkably respectful. Their hospitality added a special touch to the evening, making us feel truly valued as customers.
Overall, Hazef Persian restaurant has earned my highest recommendation. If you're looking for a place with delicious food, a welcoming ambiance, and a staff that goes above and beyond, Hazef is the place to be. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
I recently dined at Hafez restaurant and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The ambiance was delightful, complemented by attentive service. The menu featured an IRANIAN food and each dish surpassed expectations in terms of flavor and presentation. From appetizers to desserts, every bite was a culinary delight. I highly recommend Hafez restaurant for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience filled with delicious food.
A tad slow with the service but the food is really delicious and the restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
We’ve had an amazing time at hafez. Kebabs are so juicy and delicious.
Highly recommended
I took a half-hour tram ride from the city center to try Iranian food.
I didn't expect to reserve a table in advance, but it ended up taking an hour to hand over the table. However, the service is still very attentive and the food is served quickly.
Shiraz Salad: Sour and very appetizing, it can be paired with everything from rice to bread to barbecue.
Braised chicken with pistachio and barberry rice: The chicken is stewed until it is tender and easy to eat, and it is very appetizing when paired with the sour barberry rice. It would be more delicious if the rice could be replaced with more fragrant long rice.
Dessert: I chose Persian ice cream. I thought there would only be one ball, but instead there were three big balls. I tasted the fragrance of roses first, and then I tasted the full taste of pistachios. It was not too sweet and was delicious.
Including a can of soda, the total cost is only 47.5 Australian dollars, which is really affordable.
There were several tables of Iranian fellows next door, and it seemed that the fellows all agreed that the food here was delicious.
