Their tteokbokki there is immaculate and I love they have flexible spice options. If you like spice but not too much I recommend a level 1 or 2.:)

Last time I write a review, you said I am not your customer, here is the proof, why don’t you save some time to improve your service and food instead of question people! Anyways, whoever see this review I truly not recommend this restaurant! Terrible service and food! Do not waste your time and money!

I ate here for my wonderful friend’s amazing birthday and it was a spectacular meal with the deliciousness of heaven itself. Best Korean restaurant in Melbourne. Service people were really really nice as well. Loved the experience 10/10

I loveeee the music being played here because I’m such a kpop Stan. Paired with the yummy food it was actually my favourite eating experience. As I’m writing this it’s actually my third time here. Highly recommend

Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

Throughout the store, there were posters saying "10% off with student ID". When we went to order, I showed my physical student ID card, however, the staff also requested for my friend to show her card. So my friend showed her 'digitial' student ID card (because from 2023, monash uni does NOT give its student a physical card, so people who joined monash uni in 2023 will ONLY have a 'digital' card). What was strange is that the store DECLINED the digital student ID cards (even though we explained to them that my friend does NOT have a physical card). The staff serving us also seemed very inexperienced and could not provide us with a valid reason for rejecting the digital student ID card. We were quite disappointed by this.

The food tasted alright, but I don't think it's worth the hype (as seen from tiktok). We ordered the rose topokki and kimichi ramen. Given the price of the topokki ($22), the portion was rather small and did not contain much ingredients. For the ramen, it seemed like they served us instant/2-minute noodles but charged us a whooping $16.

It's a shame that this is the impression the store has left us with. I hope people in future won't have to experience this.

Reply to restaurant owner: It would be appreciated if your restaurant can simply be HONEST on this platform. On the day, evidence of a digital student ID card was provided at the cashier (note that it was a DIGITAL ID and NOT a photo, so it was in accordance to your policy). However, your staff DECLINED the digital student ID and therefore did NOT process the 10% discount for us. Please be more TRANSPARENT in the future (and not simply attempt to cover up your wrongdoings), as I wouldn’t want future customers to encounter the same experience as us. Thanks.

So disappointed
I’ve been here since it was newly opened. The food were really nice before but now it has changed a lot. The ingredients in toppoki has changed and rice cakes were so mushy. I had rose toppoki today and there was onion and cabbage instead of broccoli. I was really happy to visit here but not anymore?

I’m sad to say that I didn’t enjoy my food there. I paid 39ish for this “large” size chicken, but the portion is sadly small. I can easily get a half fried chicken for 20 dollars in any Korean restaurant. And I have been here before when it first opened, the portion is nothing comparing to that time.

Came for lunch buffet. Very limited choice. Not worthy at all. SSAM is way better and more worthy.

Ask them first if they happy to do a buffet with chicken or not

Unclear message and they only want to keep chicken for a la carte customers not buffet!

I was there because I want to try the Lunch buffet $22 (Until 3 pm) and we were waiting in a line and got our table around 1.30pm then went to the cashier to pay (pay first service) have been told that no more chicken so buffet only tteokbokki and some fried entree, which it doesn’t make sense at all because it’s a fired chicken shop.you shouldn’t mentioned at all that buffet until 3 pm. Disappointed

I was quite disappointed with the proportions that were given. Which means that the menu is quite pricey, and the flavour didn't justify it. The service wasn't the best either. 1 menu given to two people is a poor experience for a start. The food was okay, but I personally wouldn't go back here for Korean Fried Chicken

한국인 사장님이 엄청 친절하세요
양념치킨 포장해서 나오면서 우산을 두고왔는데 그것도 잘 챙겨주셨어요

반반치킨이 안되서 아쉽지만 곧 출시하신다니 기대하겠습니다

The atmosphere of resto is quite young and vibrant thanks to the kind Korean owner and his staff.they are going to release half abd half chicken soonest.

I hope people in Melbourne will try and enjoy chicken over and over.

Fast service, great menu, amazing food! Ordered both the rose chicken and topokki, amazing quality and the topokki was so soft! Overall a great experience and would definitely come back!

Nice location, inside Emporium Melbourne. Limited seating.
The food was not the best - had sweet chilli topokki and beef bulgogi. Definitely room for improvement- sweet chilli was too sweet, tasted like having a dessert instead of a meal.

Rice felt very uncooked - it was hard and dry - and staff were unfriendly. Rice with seaweed for $12? That is an insane price to pay for uncooked, dry rice.

Had my lunch here last week and pretty satisfied with it. My fav was the fried chicken and the topokki, they have so many different flavors that distinguishes them from others.
And the buffet only cost 22/pp, a really economic and delicious place for a quick meal.

We ordered:
Rose Topokki
Tuna Mayo Rice
Corn Cheese
Sweet Chili Chicken
Korean Ice Dabang Coffee

Everything is so delicious. I love that they have different portion sizes, perfect for a quick snack or if you want a proper meal. Their rose topokki and sweet chili chicken is a must to order, a perfect combo. Must try!

Great place to grab Korean snacks. Perfect for lunch. And the lunch buffet deal is definitely a wise option.

Located on the lower ground floor inside Emporium, Guljak is a newcomer to the Korean food scene that is rapidly making a reputation for delicious authentic Korean street food.

Known for their toppoki (spicy rice cakes) and fried chicken, you can also order sides like fried shrimp, corn cheese and assorted rice dishes.

We tried the new spicy hot pot toppoki (a new addition to the menu) and we were blown away by the taste of sichuan peppercorns, fish cake, Ham and potato noodles. The toppoki was perfect in texture, had a bit of a chew which we really liked.

We also tried the lemon cream chicken which was perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and juicy when you bite into it. The lemon cream sauce offered a delightful contrast to the savoury chicken.

The surprise hit was the corn cheese. A house blend of cheddar and mozzarella coats the corn and it is baked to stringy cheese perfection. This dish hits different to any other Korean restaurant and is a must order.

The ham and kimchi rice and Korean iced coffee were also fantastic.

Overall a superb experience and we will be back to try the other dishes on the menu.

Thanks to John and Ava for hosting and inviting us.
