Greenfields was an absolute nightmare to deal with and to plan our wedding.
Avoid this venue at all costs!

The first employee who managed our wedding was a nightmare from the start. They didn’t contact us when they stated they would, and when prompted, responded rudely and defensively. They were not across our wedding details at all, to the extent that they had to check the grooms name on their notes while we were in a meeting.

This person then left the company and Greenfields didn’t manage an effective handover of our details. The result was us needing to start from scratch with a new wedding planner/function coordinator only a few weeks out from the wedding. This person was extremely unprofessional and was not competent for their position. We had a phone meeting with them where we went over all of the details of the weeding. At the end of this meeting, they had clearly taken no notes and instead asked us to send all these details in an email, so we needed to go away and do their job for them.

They followed up subsequent emails with missing or incorrect details which we had to correct several times and asked us consistently for the same information, such as supplier information, menu items etc. After giving these details to them a couple of times, they were still wrong on our event order. At one point they even asked for final details by April 28th – the wedding was on April 9.

We had several guests with dietary issues and the lack of attention to detail was already so concerning that we requested a meeting with the manager. The GM was extremely defensive on the phone and via emails, often sending 1 sentence emails which read as passive aggressive and agitated. This increased our stress as we felt unable to voice our own concerns and have them accepted. The GM was also unsure of several of our requests for the wedding so we had to go through everything with them yet again.

On the day prior to the wedding, we had a meeting with the manager, event coordinator and operations manager at Greenfields and had organised to practice walking down the aisle. Initially we were told we had access to the venue for 2 hours. This was then reduced to 1 hour with a day’s notice. On the day, after 40 minutes we were asked to leave the ceremony space as they wanted to set up for a lunch they had booked over our meeting time. We were then told the deck was freshly strained so we couldn’t properly practice walking down the aisle.

On the wedding day, the tables were set the wrong way around – we had placed my 96-year-old grandfather near the dancefloor but instead he was seated at the opposite end of the venue.

The bride walked down the aisle and the deck stain was all over her dress. Our bridesmaids were trying to cover up the stain while she was standing at the altar, the whole time she was having my photos done and signing wedding documents, and the photographer was trying to hide the ruined dressed throughout our photo sessions.

We had canapes in the bridal suite (organised with the venue prior) but they forgot about my dietary requirements so there was nothing for the bride to eat. One of our bridal party members had to flag down some staff to get food for THE BRIDE!

We contacted the venue afterwards regarding the ruined dress. They responded saying they take no responsibility and that the deck stain should have dried and that they can’t verify where the stain came from or when it occurred. Once again, their language was very defensive and upsetting. This was despite having photos of the dress pre ceremony (clean) and post ceremony (stained) as evidence.

Absolutely shocking service all around. We spent a significant amount of this venue and expected a high service quality to accompany this spend. Instead, we received months of stress, extra effort and several difficulties on the day itself due to their incompetence.

We wouldn’t wish the stress and hassle on any bride or groom. There are various options in this price range, if Greenfields is a consideration for you, we strongly recommend choosing another venue.

The team at Greenfields put on an amazing lunch for the team at OBrien Real Estate Cranbourne in December 2020. Nothing was too much for the friendly events team and all of the staff on the day went above and beyond to ensure our team was well looked after. The food was delicious and the drinks were fabulous. Our team enjoyed games on the lawn and went next door for mini golf afterwards. We cant thank the team at Greenfields enough for such a superb event. We will definitely be back for future events.

So lucky to choose this beautiful venue for my husband 70th birthday with 20 people. Eventhough social distancing rule was in placed we didn't feel that we lost because the atmoshphere was so lovely with very warm welcome by Adam and his buddy that worked on that day. Everything was so beautiful. The communication with Grace and Andrena was very easy and they catered everyrhing we need acvording to the plan.thank you Greenfields and all the staff for making my husband birthday memorable.

We had the pleasure of hosting our wedding reception at Greenfields Albert Park in early January!

I planned everything from interstate with the help of the amazing team and friendly staff. We were so impressed by the service and the final outcome of our styling, presentation, organisation, food and overall hospitality.

Everything was organised and presented to perfection with no hassle or stress! The space was perfectly suited for my entire family and friends and well equipped for music, dancing and the spacious outdoors.

We had the most perfect day and wouldn't have changed a thing!

Went here for a New Years Eve function. Advertised as a cocktail function, buffet and very few tables available. Starting at 7pm so to get a table get there a bit earlier. We arrived at 6.45 and got last table.outside. A bit cool but quite pleasant
Queued for over half an hour for anti pasta platter although food was good. From then on it was difficult to get food as the waiters always seemed to get waylaid as they left the kitchen so they only got to us on rare occasions.
The band was excellent and played many sets, but the soprano guest should not have used the microphone because it did not suit her voice.
Overall my family had a good time but it seemed overpriced for what it was, even on NY eve.

Moving in on my golf course Lakeside which no doubt will be owned by the omniscient wealthy Chinese as their own little fiefdom.

Ok place. Went to a wedding here. A bit weird having peak hour traffic passing by only 25m away from the service and then on the opposite side some one teeing off playing golf 15m away. Just a bit odd but each to there own.

Loved this place, the weather was perfect, the food and beverages were spot on. The facilities was wonderful with great views of Albert park/lake. Situated right next to the golf course. We absolutely enjoyed our friends birthday here and would most certainly come back of book a function here ourselves.

My husband and I recently had our wedding at Greenfields and we had a great experience. In particular the event coordinator was very helpful and responsive in the lead up to our event. The venue looked great and the food was good too. We had no issues with the staff and service. I would recommend Greenfields as a wedding venue.

We have been left feeling utterly disappointed after attending a Father’s Day lunch at $80 per head. We were served cheap cuts of meat, sweet potatoes and had to ask for a salad. Desert was lucklustre with three small tarts and 3 small undercooked / raw churros served to share between 7 people. We booked weeks ahead with dietary requirements and were consistently served food that I was allergic to. To top it off we were charged $40 for my two year olds small bowl of spaghetti and a salad with iceberg lettuce. When offering feedback to the manager, Adam, he was aggressive and dismissive of our concerns. Don’t bother this place is cheap and nasty!

What an amazing space!
We had my sons Baptism here Sunday past and it outdid my expectations. Despite its truly unique feel, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met checking in often throughout the event. We opted for two food stations (grazing and street food) along with some canapés all of wich where delicious. Through the throws of a very stressful planning period (prior to arranging someone to take over for me) Andrena showed endless patience and professionalism.
A beautiful spot In our Melbourne metropolis that I happily recommend.

My husband and I got married at Greenfields in January 2019 and it was everything we hoped for - light, bright, indoors meets outdoors, blank canvas that was easy to decorate how we wanted but also stood on its own and didn’t need us to bring in too much ourselves if we didn't want to! The event planners were so easy going and easy to work with and the staff on the day/night were so helpful - I would highly recommend this venue for anyone planning an event or wedding!

Greenfields is one of the best venues we’ve had the pleasure of working with in Melbourne for Weddings.

Each time we’ve performed at Greenfields, you can see the care and attention to detail focused towards the client and their guests. The venue decor is beautiful, the staff are so professional and friendly, and the food is to die for!

Special mention must be made to Daniella for being one of the loveliest event managers we've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. When we have a gig booked at Greenfields our entertainment team know that it’s going to be a 10/10!

Nice cafe with good coffee after a round. Beautiful golf course, I've had a few lessons and enjoyed them a lot!

Great venue with a beautiful view and a nice outdoor area. The food is amazing and their menu offers so many different options to what most other cafes are offering presently, which is great.
The only disappointing thing about the venue is the smokers. As there isn't signage saying they can't smoke they tend to smoke anywhere on the outside area or just off the deck, completely disregarding people sitting less than a metre from them eating. I don't remember ordering a smokers special with my meal.

Greenfields Albert Park

Pros:

Staff were friendly, patient & attentive. Even though the restaurant was busy, they ensured to cater for everyones individual needs.
This restaurant is directly across albert lake, making the views absolutely breath taking. There is plenty of parking and right next to a gorgeous green golf course.
The food speaks for itself; fresh, clean, flavoursome, and original. I had the Green Goreng, which was delicious.infused with flavour, I couldn’t put my fork down.
Prices are reasonable compared to the quality of food and generous servings. You won’t be disappointed.
The restaurant has an open rustic look, beautiful designed and delivered

Not kid friendly at all. Manager refused to heat up our baby daughter’s lunch, so she ate it cold.

EDIT: The excuse on the day was "we are too busy", I now see it has changed to "health and safety laws. "

I guess if you cannot trust your chef to warm an unopened baby tin of Heinz beans, this is not the place you want to be eating at.

FWIW Mr Albert & Eastern is a better cafe.

Beautiful venue, great food and first class service. A place well worth visiting.
We held a function for 30 people which was fully catered for by the venue.
The staff were attentive and well presented, the food was plentiful and of excellent quality. I cannot fault any aspect of the experience apart from the fact that our 6 hour function felt like an hour. Thank you to all the staff and management for making our function an occasion to be remembered.

Not enough food, very sparce, not nice anyway, the bride had to provide her own floral arrangements, umbrellas, desert and this venue was quite expensive. Staff o.k. Very central to the city.
