A really good school. I like that they strict about school rules and keeps me informed about my son's progress. They help your child succeed. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this school! The staff and students are so friendly here, and it as a community is nothing like I've ever seen before. If you are looking for a place for your child to study, I recommend this school to you.

The school has went downhill

1. They replaced most of the original teachers and leaders who genuinely cared and put effort in our learning. I wonder if they even interview the new teachers because some of them don’t have basic language proficiency. Their classes are like a day care for us to study textbooks ourselves. Although there are some good teachers left that haven’t moved to better schools.

2. They fund everything on junior school (they couldn’t even get enough lockers so we had to leave our stuff in a classroom). I’ve only ever seen the principal through photos of her and preppies on their gnlc-is-a-quality-christian-valued-school propaganda. I’m not even kidding.

3. They also cancelled majority of camps and events. If you’re in senior or middle school then it isn’t worth going.

4. GNLC was goated in the 2012-2018 era but it’s gone downhill. They’ve lost their original care for education and christian values ever since they wanted to scotch-college-ify the school.

5. They basically ONLY have maths and science subjects in senior school. No effort in improving humanities, art, design and sport side of our school. It’s a breeding ground for the asian 5 subject achievers but with 70 atars instead of 99.95.6. From how I see it atm, they only focus on expanding their school and advertising it to make the most money in a cycle to become a “prestigious private school”

7. They have dumb rules such as no rain jackets when it’s raining because it’s not winter. And that’s just a recent “fix” because they banned rain jackets last year for not looking “smart” enough (an example of the scotch-college-ification).

8. We’ve lost the fun and outgoing school culture we used to have back in 2015 era gnlc. Even harmony day was a flop (they did it so much better in the grange). Kids graduating here won’t reminisce over school memories and thats the sad part.

This review would be great for analytical commentary ngl.

The education has improved a lot, and since this is a newly developed school, we are gaining better leadership, better experiences, etc. A great school that will give the best mentor and guidance!

When I met you in the summer
To my heartbeat's sound
We fell in love
As the leaves turned brown
And we could be together, baby
As long as skies are blue
You act so innocent now
But you lied so soon
When I met you in the summer
When I met you in the summer
To my heartbeat's sound
We fell in love
As the leaves turned brown
And we could be together, baby
As long as skies are blue
You act so innocent now
But you lied so soon
When I met you in the summer
Summer
When I met you in the summer
Summer

GNLC was a very disappointing and frustrating experience for us during 2021- Term 1 2022, especially as I am a qualified Primary School Teacher. For anyone looking to send their kids here, until they change management and their approach to communication, I would encourage you to look elsewhere.
We had continual safety issues (children unsupervised near an open gate during school hours and parents’ cars) to road rage & for both cases the school was dismissive and defensive.
Academically, the children are behind, if kids are achieving they won’t extend them. And even at our urging no plan to catch them up was presented. The communication between parents and staff is again dismissive and defensive- which reflects the response of Fiona McAuliffe, the principal; and Maria Denholm, the Junior Head.
There are some amazing teachers- Stephanie Wurst and Sarah Agnew to name two, but they seem to be few and far between.
We have pulled out our child as it is a waste of money, popped them into a local public school as it really can’t be any worse than GNLC, and we can spend our money on tutors and academic programs, if needed. In short, save your money- look elsewhere!

DON’T SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL IT’S NOT WORTH IT. The uniform is expensive, the fees are expensive, EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE. Ever since the 3 new principals came the school has become horrible. You can’t wear your rain jacket even if it’s raining. There has to be a certain amount of rain to be allowed to wear it. They will call you every time your child does something, even if it’s something not that important. Like for example, chewing gum. The teachers are some of the worst teachers ever. But there are a few gifted ones that brightens up a child’s day. Absolutely horrific, they don’t even take Christian values to heart, they just say they’re a Christian school. They don’t care about the students and the punishments are really strict. The education is one of the worst in Victoria, especially ever since they switched their curriculum to IB. Please don’t send your child here, they will have worst time of their life.

I am a parent of 6 children. I never write any comments, but after reading one comment l can't be quiet. I came to Australia 25 years ago. Our family is connected with Good News since then. Watering first trees on the block of land where the school is now and praying for growth of the school and community is a mission for Western suburbs of Melbourne. Good News was and is a huge blessing for many people. It is blessing to our family for sure. Our children was blessed with many Godly teachers who are still helping them to grow in faith and knowledge even now. English isn't my first language, but I never had a problem to uproach teachers with anything. Please don't hesitate to ask for help and don't give rude judgement to teachers. If they help me and my children they'll help you also. Bless them all and you will be bless too.

The school has lost its Christian values since the new principal took over, the curriculum has also changed to the IB curriculum and the children are way behind the expected standard academically. I removed my child and put them in another school and they had to study so much to catch up to their classmates as the maths and English at Good News Lutheran College is 1-2 years behind current school. There is bullying at good news, and they don’t do anything about it. Unfortunately since new principal came, school has gone way downhill.

My 2 kids go there and is so happy with how it is. Mrs vines (a year 6 teacher) is the best at teaching my little daughter and tries to help as much as they do.and also a quick story- my eldest daughter (year 6) used to cry everyday for the past 2 years about her old school (heathdale christian college) because the school was a mean and cruel school.my daughter also mentioned that in heathdale the stuff they are teaching us is good but the why they teacher is terrible, there is no fun in the learning and gets boring.however, in good news they teach the same thing but make it in a more fun way so they get it in there head.i hope this made sense and move to good news if your child wants to:)

I have two daughters who are going to this school. Before I joined my kids I read reviews and was kind of scared to join them as there were very less positive review. But after three terms I realized, the school is very good and the teachers are really nice. Mrs Talita Zibell, year 1 teacher does really good job in underst8the kids needs and keeping then at the right standards and values.
