Golden Star- Fish & Chips

Not only the best fish and chips in Bayside area but honestly best in Melbourne!
The fish is always perfectly cooked, and chips are on point! Can't fault!
Awesome owners and friendly staff.

Ordered via Uber eats and wasn’t disappointed! Chips were crispy with a fluffy inside, and snapper was cooked just right, nice flakey consistency, good little fish n chip shop!

I purchased a fish & Seafood, very delicious & really good customer service, they have best handmade potato pancake in Melbourne!

Update: Haven't been here for a while and it was a good as ever. Golden crispy chips and a nice thick moist piece of fish. Friendly service.

2 yrs ago: They are now taking card or cash. Fish was good size and very tasty.

Best fish and chips I’ve tasted, would recommend. Better than any other fish and chip shops around.

You’ll never find potato cakes this good, I promise! I’m a regular customer of some years and this is the only fish and chip shop that takes me back to my childhood fish and chips which were the best. Great service, always quick, always give generous helpings and even sometimes extra which is so sweet. Tonight I ordered 2 potato cakes and I got 4! I never expect it but it’s always heart warming. Thanks guys

The workers here are real nice, but the food is pretty average, not sure I'd visit there unless it was close by

Nothing to add, still the best potato cakes in Melbourne and the burgers are great.

The worst couple’s seafood pack ever. Everything was over cooked, the grilled fish was half mashed, calamari was like old string, nothing tasted good. So disappointing because the shop was clean and busy we thought everything would be fresh.

Ordered by phone, excellent phone manner and great at taking big orders. The food was great, generous helpings, well cooked and not too oily for fish and chips standard. Calamari was the stand out for me, as it tasted fresh and decent proportion. My only tip to others is to ask for chicken salt or other garnishes as they do not offer/prompt when ordering.

Was looking for a good local fish & chip shop and I certainly found it! My main item I look for is beef croquettes! My comfort food! And they have them! And do them so well! We also ordered a burger which was beyond amazing and the chips were perfection and the onion rings were humongous! Pricing is good too. The staff there are the loveliest friendliest people which just makes the whole thing even better! Highly recommend and we are even coming back and second night in a row because my son now wants some!

Unfortunately the lamb souvlakis had more gristle and fat than actual meat! Ended up having to give most to the dog. What little meat that was present were tiny dry pieces. Should have known a chippery cannot do souvas.will have to find a proper local place or drive to Oakleigh.

Have ordered a few times in the past with no issues but our most recent order will be our last.
$10+ for grilled flake that was the size of 2 fish fingers. Floppy potato cakes.
Chips were good but not good enough for us to continue coming here.
