Much better than thier bigger opposition - and the staff know what products they have on shelf - and they are extremely helpful.

Great store, bigger than it looks from the street. Asked one of the staff for some wire mesh with a small aperture, got it straight away. Vermin mesh, it done the trick.

Comparing Golden City with Hume and Iser.same company, different world for customers. Golden City store 5 stars. Hume and Iser store 2 stars.
Golden City Staff. SO easy to deal with and really will help you. Compared to Hume and Iser Store.much much better now the loyalty points can be saved at EITHER store and can be redeemed at either store. I will go to Golden City from now on. They are great guys (and gals). I just gave up on Hume and Iser store when they didnt get back to me a couple of times with answers or quotes.one was for a shed worth thousands of dollars.they didn't need that sale I guess. Last week, I had a request for the wood shop - cut 3 wood panels to exact size.no problem. At Golden City, it was done perfectly and the edges sanded. (Thank you if you are reading this). However, at Hume and Iser, my request for EXACTLY the same as Golden City request, was treated with.shall we say.condescending attitude to a female? "yep, I will call you back with that quote/ answer". And never calling back. Seriously? Maybe my 'job' was too insignificant to them.but if a customer makes a request, they don't do it for fun.it's because they need it! I was happy to wait a week or so. I was trying to order well in advance as I know they have other customers.
After 2 polite requests for a quote from H and I, they promised the manager would call back with a quote.and of course, he didn't. (Filed in the round bin my guess). My response for H and I may be too polite. I really wanted to say to the 'x' who told me "we are really busy and that doesn't seem important''. (?) "Mate! You need to work somewhere else! Customer service is NOT your forte! " Strange.because the voice wait loop on the phone says. 'we can cut wood to any size for your projects.no problem! Just ask! Hmmm. However, I really like the staff in the garden dept at H and I.the manager is awesome. Cant fault them.

So.my suggestion is go to GOLDEN CITY (***** 5 stars) instead of Hume and Iser 2 stars) (except for H I garden shop.love them) if you can.you get the same loyalty points AND they have better customer service in my opinion, especially if you are female in my experience. I dont know ALL of the staff at H and I and some are decent, nice people, but I have been a frequent customer there for over 25 years so have come into contact with quite a few of them.the problem is in the wood yard in particular. It obviously extends to managers as well as THEY are the ones not bothering to return calls or prepare quotes for 'unimportant' business. (Maybe H and I could do some training to adjust attitudes among problematic staff?) Thanks to the others who DO care and treat customers equally.

Whilst the timber yard covers the basics, the store itself is a real letdown compared to other Mitre 10 stores and particularly compared to the local Home Hardware and Bunnings offerings. There is a fairly basic range, and the store that hasn't really seen any work since the early eighties. You should be able to find what you need, but there isn't a great deal of choice of products. Staff are helpful though.

Had to drop in for Emergency supplies for our air b and b. So helpful! See these guys with your fix it up needs!
