The Geelong Basketball Netball Centre is a wonderful venue for our Kelly Sports School Holiday Program. Every school holidays, we run an all day sports based holiday program with children from all schools attending each day.

The GBNC staff are very friendly and accommodating. The courts, indoor foyer and toilets are always very clean which helps reassure our families that the centre is safe and healthy!

Zoe at the desk is very helpful with any enquiries that we have and the cleaners are always very polite.

Thank you for having us GBNC!

Genuinely the most unpleasant sporting experience I’ve ever had in my life.

Starting as a group of somewhat sporty guys and girls in our early 20s we enthusiastically signed up for a season of mixed netball at the centre.
After playing our ranking games and being put in the lowest ranking grade, we found ourselves drastically behind the pack. And regularly spent weeks getting smashed. But still having a laugh and enjoying ourselves. Which seemed contrary to the environment created at the Geelong basketball and netball centre. Even at the bottom grade we found an overly competitive and combative attitude from generally young and stubborn umpires. Rarely willing to interact or point us in the right direction with some rules as we had some players new to Netball. And ruthlessly and needlessly over umpired and barraded them for common fouls. Seemingly only because they were becoming frustrated with the level of skill in our team. Causing these new players to also feel unwelcome and uninterested in learning a new sport.

The tipping point coming when after renting a set of bibs with the with 2 GD bibs from reception, we explained we would need another set, and after being told be a delightful young umpire that it ‘wasn’t really her problem’ she decided it was still worth her time giving us 11 point penalty for the amount of time it took to get another set of bibs.

Overall if you have a team of experienced players you’ll find Geelong netball basketball centre to be a location in which you can in fact play netball. But if you’re looking to have some fun/laugh/smile/enjoy yourself. It’s worth looking for another location.
