Great place for coffee. The staff are fantastic, always enjoy ourselves when we are there.

The coffee, the mushroom croque monsieur, and the princess cakes, my god! Everything is so delicious. Wow what a place. Fan-tas-tic. Can't wait to go back and try everything else. Great staff and delicious food.

The traditional French hot chocolates were excellent, the croque Monsieur was to die for, and the Mandarin cheesecake was incredible!

The thought of the creamy Ratatouille soup is very tempting, but I'm sure to explode!

Absolutely delicious *chef's kiss* pies and cakes and the service from Lulu and co.is always warm, efficient, and friendly. Our Sunday's wouldn't be complete without a visit to Gateaux! Highly recommend.

Fine French patisserie in humble Mentone. My favourite is the eclair which they change up quite often.

Very dissatisfied with the amount of fillings in both the almond and chocolate croissant. I don’t expect over the top full, but this was a bit ridiculous. The almond cream was nice but sparse. The pastry was nice but nothing out of the ordinary these days. That was my first time here and I think I’ll be going back to my regular French patisserie in Beaumaris concourse.

I was looking for a last minute cake for my partner’s birthday and Gateaux were so lovely and accomodating. They were able to organise a Genevieve cake with only 24 hours notice. The cake itself was just delicious and all my guests were raving about it. Will definitely be back!

Ordered a Camille cake for my daughter's birthday to share with her family. Had to order from overseas. The service was great - simple & effective. And the cake evidently smelt amazing and taste and textures was a wonderful experience - according to those who were there. Many thanks - helped make a special day even more special.

Wonderful little french pattiserie at Mentone parade. The cakes and pastries are amazing and tasty. Friendly staff and decent coffee to accompany the cakes. No seating area, only grab and go and few tables outside. Will come and try other varieties of cakes

Had the lemon tart, vanilla slice and almond croissant from here and both were amazing. One of the best I’ve ever had. The vanilla slice pastry was unique and delicate, the lemon tart had a perfect mix of meringue and tart and the almond croissant had a perfect amount of almond paste inside. Highly recommend and would definitely come back if I was in the area.

Best morning break in Mentone! The french bakery items are superb and the coffee, particularly the genuine chocolate used in their mocha's, is excellent. This cafe is no longer a secret in the area either - it's getting a regular crowd lining up for their goodies.

What a refreshing change from most of the bakeries around that have been taken over by (you know who) over the years…

Cakes and pastries are delish! But prices for some items are steep. $7.50 for an iced latte, and $5 for a simple plain scone is too much.

I cannot imagine that Melbourne would have any cafes to rival the quality of the cakes and pastries that can be found in this little French gem situated in Hampton. In addition to the fine food, Marc, Lulu and his staff are very friendly and welcoming, something other cafes could do well to emulate. Great food! Great Service!

It is always a happy event to pick up a cake or just a couple of items of pastry.
They managed to decorate a Birthday cake in a foreign language in non-Latin alphabet to the perfection!

Best almond croisants in Melbourne, or at least in Hampton. It’s one of my favorite weekend treats to stop and grab some for the family.

I must say that I was really disappointed by the size of the croissant for $5. If you are French then make French sized croissant please?
The Almond croissant wasn't fresh and so small too.
I won't come back and recommend 10 times more Elcair or the Flour House not far from there! Or tell me you are going to do normal size patisserie and i will come back.
The 3 stars are for great coffee nice friendly lady serving and speaking french)
