G2 Korean BBQ

The staff were lovely and so friendly, they were really helpful too, we got a lot of help cooking our food. The food was amazing and pretty reasonably priced.

This Korean BBQ restaurant offers excellent value for money with a combination of friendly and exceptional service. The dishes served are fresh, delicious, and of high quality. I strongly recommend this restaurant and look forward to visiting again soon

I came on the late night of Friday without booking. The service was excellent, the shop owner was very take caring the customer and making us feel like home. The food was delicious as well, the boneless chicken with sweet and sour sauce was very nice, highly recommended. Gonna come back ^^

A great K BBQ place, I will be recommending to everyone! Had the beef and pork set and it was the perfect filling size for 2. The tteokbokki and soybean stew was also very delicious. The service was incredible, very friendly staff that even helped with bbqing.

We got a combo bbq set for 3 cost $157 just a few pieces of beef, chicken and pork, and a very small amount of vegetables to eat with. Really surprised at this price with that small amount of food. Soy chicken fried is fine not special. Seafood pancake tastes good.

Overall, the service is good but the food is not appropriate for the price and nothing special. Cost nearly 50$ per person.

I adore this place, from the moment we walked in to paying the bill the service was on point!

We ordered the pork (2pp) set kbbq as well as the kimchi pancake, korean fried chicken and teobokki to share across 3 people. Definately too much food, would have skipped out on the teobokki next time.

The pork set kbbq was delicious, the staff cooked it for us on the table beside and cut everything up and served it ~ amazing service!

They also made sure we were comfortable under the aircon cause it was a hot day so really appreciate that! Thank you water was also consistently topped up and the food came out at perfect timings.

The kbbq and fried chicken was delicious! Spot on, so were the side dishes! The kimchi pancake was a little thick to my liking but it was so stuffed with goodies that it still tasted good! The teobokki was super spicy lol, I had to take it home and add more veggies and rice cakes to it to tone down the spice but super delish!

Amazing food and amazing service. We have tried other KBBQ restaurants but nothing else compares to G2. The sweet and spicy korean fried chicken is a must to accompany your BBQ dinner!

Food is amazing but I've never been a fan of their marinated meats - it just never tastes right, especially when it burns black.
Service is mediocre - I love that staff asks if we want to cook or if we want them to cook (we always get the staff to cook because we're too lazy). HOWEVER, staff mostly look miserable for some reason. Not sure why most of them don't smile or avoid eye contact.
Atmosphere is fine. Lovely music. Just a bit uncomfortable when the owner (?) is on the floor yelling at staff.
Overall, would come back for the food and the staff cooking for us but not much else.

It was a good place to eat, the only thing it bothered me a bit was the staff cooking your food and there are not many people if it gets busy.
Food is great and drinks are just phenomenal.

Excellent customer service and food quality. I strongly recommend you to have korean barbecue and cold noodle together since this restaurant's cold noodle is extraordinary great especially for its sauce. I will definitely visit again

Food is really expensive.
The idea of charcoal bbq is good but meat kept getting stuck on the grill. Heat distribution is horrible where the middle part burns the meat and the sides don't cook the meat at all.
For 4 people we were given only 3 pieces of lettuce, 1 piece of cucumber and 1 piece of carrot. For ordering $180 worth of food it was really disappointing to see very little side dishes come out.
Kimchi and pork soup had meat but it was all fat.
Staff looks at you really annoyed if you call them after you've been served.
They cramp in so many tables and chairs in such a small space it's not very relaxing to eat there.
Would not recommend or go back.
There are lots of other places way better value for money.

Since 2019 we try to go to G2 once a week. BY far the best Korean BBQ outside of Korea. Ryan the manager and his staff are always so amazing. And the food 50/10!

We ordered 2 sets but only gave 1 small lettuce basket. When asked for a second lettuce basket. They said it would cost $5.
Beef is very fattening and spitted out after chewing for some time.

Wonderful services and vibes. The appetisers are good and pork belly is highly recommended. Definitely go and try the creamy and onion deep fried chicken, they are the best in Melbourne. ️
Kimchi soup is a spicy surprise for me and I had a lovely time with my parter there.

Came here unexpectedly as original restaurant we were going to didn't look good.

So happy we decided to come here after walking past.
Have never experienced anything like this before so was real exciting for us.

Staff- very hospitable and friendly.
Vibe- nice! Very small and intimate setting but it is nice, you don't even realise how small it is.
Food- delicious!
Price- we bought the beef and pork pack which included 1 entree, meat pack for bbq, salads, rice and lots of condiment type things and a hotpot.
$101 for 2 people which included 2x cokes and 1 beer.
Parking- We parked on la trobe street under Melbourne Central after 7.30 on a Friday evening, was about a 3 minute walk to G2, we returned to car around 9: 30 and it only cost $13
Experience - 5star!

I'm not sure if Children are allowed here, but if so I wouldn't recommend younger children.
With the hot charcoal bowl on the centre of the table it could get very dangerous if they got rowdy.

If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would as this was probably the worst dining experience from a customer service standpoint I've experienced in a while. The manager lied to us and refused to honour an agreed group offer after ordering drinks despite having the offer in writing with his handwriting and confirming the details on 3 separate occasions including when we arrived today. Horrible service and discriminatory bullying by the manager who obviously doesn't care about customers allowing for a group of 30+ people celebrating an event that was planned weeks in advance to be left starving, all for what? So this greedy and dishonest manager could uphold his ego? I would not recommend this place to anyone; faces filled with disgust from the staff members staring at us as we were forced to leave didn't help. Luckily we found Drumtong Korean BBQ just down the road which happily accepted a booking of 30+ with just 10 minutes notice. Not only was the service and food above average, their set menus offered much greater value and variety with sets including various BBQ meats, stews, steamed eggs, cheese fondue, rice, unlimited banchan and dessert for ~$30 per person including soju/alcohol, significantly cheaper with greater variety that the offer the manager of G2 Korean BBQ refused to honour. If it wasn't for the incompetence of the manager at G2 BBQ we wouldn't have been introduced to the amazing food at Drumtong Korean BBQ. Thank you @g2koreanbbqmanager #youtherealmvp

In response to the owner's reply, we made this group booking and our group was split across multiple tables. If you business is under new management I do apologise for the review above as this happened around 3 years ago; however everything we mentioned above definitely did happen and our group was very unsatisfied with our experience (all which can confirm the events mentioned above). You are more than welcome to take action however I will be leaving my review up.

Manager was supposed to work out a deal for a group booking, however when the group arrived the deal was not honoured. A group of 30+ people were left hungry. The serivce provided here is horrible.

First time Korean BBQ and it was great. Food was delicious, staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Took Covid restrictions and social distancing very serious. Well Done.

Staff was super inattentive to our barbecue.he told us that the pork belly was ready to eat when it was literally still raw in the middle.if i hadn’t looked closer, my partner and i would have ended up eating raw meat.i felt nauseous after literally 5 bites of the ox tongue.it took them extremely long just to bring us some water after sitting down.they brought out our rice 10 minutes before they actually put any meat on the barbecue and since they had seated us right next to the door on an extremely cold day, our rice was obviously cold by the time the meat was done.prices are way too high considering portion size and quality.will not return and do not recommend.

Really good service! All waitresses were really helpful and the manager lady is very nice too! Food is quite good and plentiful.
