Fortnums Restaurant & Wedding Venue reviews
67We had a lovely lunch here today. We all agreed that our meals were very nice, reasonably priced. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and the service was excellent. I always enjoy taking friends & family here. Fortnums never disappoints.
Hubby & I loved our mini brunch at Fortnums the food was delicious, with authentic homemade flavor and the scones were the BEST ONE ever eaten in Sassafras, VIC. We love the French Martini Salute
Excellent high class venue. Kind attentive staff, great food. Beautiful surroundings. Devonshire scones were served warm with plenty of jam and whipped cream. Recommended.
We visited for the first time. Absolutely loved the place. I loved the fact that it has windows all over and gives a beautiful vintage vibe to dine in. The food was good as well. I would highly recommend to have a booking on public holidays or weekends. Otherwise might have to wait for a while. If they are busy, food might take around 20 minutes to arrive. Strawberry milkshake recommended. Positive vibes, good food, great ambience, friendly staff, ample of parking on and off the restaurant. Must visit if planning trip towards Dandenong Ranges. We spend $75 for 2 people.
We only stopped for a coffee this time but will return for a meal. The atmosphere, decore, service and food are top notch.
Like eating at your Nana's house. Food was OK, the lamb roast was rather bland and dry.
Great place for lunches and high teas. Great venue for functions and weddings. Had a yummy lunch of calamari, wedges and Greek salad
Have just had a wonderful, delicious high tea for lunch.my friends and I can't stop saying what an amazing experience it was. Atmosphere delightful too.
Lovely venue and really enjoyed the High Tea - delicious. By far and away though was the friendly, warm and welcoming service by all the staff. It helped to make a lovely birthday celebration for my dad and our whole family
I had not visited Fortnums for some time. I came here with my late wife on a fairly regular basis. The food and service is still good.
Lovely atmosphere and a gorgeous restaurant, however our food was not hot, so not nice and my coffee was bitter.
We came for my hubbies birthday and we left rather disappointed, will not return.shame?
2.5 stars. I had high hopes for high tea here cos it looks so pretty on the outside but the food was pretty average, desserts not all fresh, scones were so that was nice. Sandwiches not cut evenly and fillings not consistent. Pastries dont look freshly made. Could've been from the supermarket isle. Crockery not fancy, looks like your average Nana's old plates and tea cups. Great customer service but I wouldn't go back. But you know 1st world problems.
Lovely venue with bay windows and natural beauty to take in while enjoying a lunch.
Had the Beef Burgundy Pot pie for lunch; each mouthful was delicious and the salad with dressing was crisp and sweet which was a perfect compliment.
Highly recommended for those weekend trips out of town with on site parking out the front; about 7-8 spots. Ideally make a reservation for peak times around 12: 30 pm.
It is Great place to rug up with a warm beverage and watch the afternoon pass by on a rainy day.
It was a fantastic low-key environment with nice music and ambiance. Tea was sublime, service was friendly and attentive, and the food was good too!
Went for high tea with a few friends, it was lovely. The food was tasty and delicious and the setting was beautiful. It did get a bit loud with the lunchtime crowd, people talking over each other but that was to be expected.
Went just after high tes so we missed that and settled for the lunch menu instead.
The food takes a while to come out but it tasted so good. Didn't mind the wait!
Sticky date pudding is the best here! I came here on Wednesday 1130hrs, my colleague and I were the only ones at first put it started filling up soon after. Place wasn't packed but at least half the place was full, surprising for mid-week but that's how popular this place is.
The service is really good, I love the seating area near the big windows. You get a good view of the street. Tables are placed at a comfortable distance so each table has their own privacy.
We shared a salmon on pancake main dish ($28) and it was very good. My picture was taken halfway through the meal so it doesn't show that it comes with 3 pancakes. We also shared the sticky date pudding and each had a coffee. Perfect way to end a meal! I could drink the butterscotch syrup, it was that good! And the pudding was so moist and just absorbs the syrup. So good!
I'll be back to try the scones, apparently they're good.
We had our Dads 90th birthday party and the staff and owners were amazing thanks for a wonderful stress free day with lots of love and laughter
Firstly on the weekend the parking is an absolute nightmare here so that is extremely off-putting. My husband and I spent 17min driving around Sassafras trying to park. Some customers of this restaurant took up two car spots as well so they could help in this area by marking the car spots or telling people to go back outside and repark!
The waitresses were friendly but the meals took a very long time to be served. My potato was just ok (was luke warm as well) though my husband liked his pot pie a lot and our desserts were delicious.
Overall given the cost of the food I didn't feel the experience was good enough to recommend given the terrible parking situation and slow service. I don't mind paying a bunch for food but expect a nicer overall experience for the cost.
Lovely staff member today however food not up to scratch. Quite disappointing. Roast beef was warm at best. Potato dish was mushy, poorly presented. Is there a new chef or was the kitchen overwhelmed? We love this beautiful place but something has changed in the food department unfortunately.
