Flavours of Mekong Vietnamese & Southeast Asian cuisine reviews
59 Came here for lunch at 12pm on Friday and was pleasantly greeted by a very friendly man, who I think is the owner. Place wasn't packed then, only one table occupied but within 30 mins the place filled up.
We ordered the tom yum noodle and bun bo hue, also Vietnamese ice coffee. We really enjoyed our meal, soup was delicious and hot, noodles were soft yet bouncy, ice coffee was strong and sweet. The spice was just the right kick although menu shows two chillies.
The owner took the time to explain the dishes to me when I asked how to pronounce them. Very nice friendly guy! I certainly will be back, this restaurant ticked all the right boxes.
The owner was super friendly and catered for our needs! The food was very delicious. Recommend to all!
Delicious beef pho and egg noodles. It's a nice place hidden away. Service is pleasant and quick. The rice paper rolls were also very nice with a yummy dipping sauce.
A lovely restaurant with staff passionate about their food. Food was prompt to come out and the pho was wholesome (especially with extra noodles). Diverse range of south East Asian cuisine means I'll be back often to try everything else! Expect more photos soon.
First time and last time: food - 5.9 out of 10; service - 1 out of 10. If you want to be yelled at while enduring mediocre food, then come.
My favourite place to eat - I absolutely love the Mekong Mee, Crab Paste Fried Rice and Fish Head Noodles Soup
The Vietnamese food here does not taste like Vietnamese food. The BBH was overly oily, with a lack of flavour and spice (probably from the overused of rock sugar and lack of lemongrass and chillies). The fish sauce they use does not taste like Vietnamese fish sauce. The rice paper rolls lack essential herbs and flavour as well.
However, the tom yum noodles soup tastes fine. So the main takeaway from this review is, don't come here expecting their viet food to taste like Viet food.
Tried this restaurant for the first time last night and will be back for sure. Decor reminded me of Vietnamese restaurants and the food was great. The char grilled calamari was outstanding.
Amazing food! In love with the fish head noodle soup and crab paste fried rice. His home made lemon tea is also delicious! Highly recommend:)
Deep friend mango barramundi was delicious! Highly recommend it and the seafood mee; owner was kind and came to talk to us.
Fantastic food. Francis was an amazing cook excellent host. We had a movie starting at 6: 30 and wanted to see if we could eat prior. Francis allowed us pre order. All our food was great. Would highly recommend this place.
A deliberately non-imposing but outstanding gem in the Nunawading and South East. I often distinguish restaurants between special occasion "sometime" visits and "everyday eatables". Flavours of Mekong certainly sounds like it falls in the latter, whilst also very capably also catering to the former.
I had a great old chat with owner, Francis who clearly has hospitality running through his veins and lots of experience running a venue my wife was a fan of for their Chilli Prawns in the Melbourne CBD. What a fantastic idea Flavors of Mekong is and it's all in the name really, paying tribute to all the delicious foods of the Mekong Delta in one venue. Can't wait to come back / keep up the great work Francis and team!
Amazing food. Great service. Went to Mekong with our family and a group of friends. All the dishes we had were tasty. Favourites were the Ton Yum soup, Lemon Grass chicken, and the green curry chicken. Highly recommended place to go. Also. The staff were friendly and provided a high quality service.
Enjoyed the dining experience with Owner Francis. Laksa was great bringing back memories of home. Mekong noodles was good too. Worth to check and enjoy the ambience as well.
One of the best. Asian Restaurant in Eastern Melbourne. Very good fusion Asian of Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese. Chef accomodate your special request if needed. Most if all provide the old school service that matches the best in Chinatown without an arn or a leg!
Great service and very helpful, friendly staff! Gluten free friendly - we will definitely be coming here more often:)
Fantastic family owned restaurant. All the dishes we ordered was delicious, my favourite was the clay pot prawn and noodle dish. Good service from the owner Francis and waitress. Highly recommended!
A beautiful family owned restaurant. Delicious Vietnamese and South Eastern Asian cuisine. Loved the live mud crab dish, the flavour was amazing, smooth and succulent flesh. All the food we ordered was delicious. The owner Francis is so friendly and recommended the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten! Lots of different types of Asian dishes to choose from, I will have to come back to try all the other dishes. Highly recommended!
Delicious Tom Yam noodles and great rice vermicelli, cool drinks as well. Great service, really little restaurant
We had the best Vietnamese in a while here today. Spring rolls were cooked just right, and the Bun had the freshest pork (also perfectly cooked) I've tasted in ages in this frequent go-to dish. Fast friendly service and my LDC loved her seafood curry lahksa. We'll surely be back.
