Fitness First Victoria Gardens

I generally pay no attention to the trainers or anyone else while I’m here. I’m in early and out early to make it to work. However, this day was different.

On Sunday, December 10,2023 there was an incident with one of the trainers. At 8: 03am I was doing glute stretches on the platform closest to the stack of barbells. To note there was a barbell in between my rack and the one across from me that someone did not put away. While leaning over stretching with my face close to the floor facing the other platform across from me a barbell comes barreling in.

Confused, because naturally a barbell should not be flying near anyone’s face. I look up, clearly a confused concern look on my face and the trainer Matt Lau had shoved the barbell forward towards me. He then asks am I using the bar? I replied, “no, but you might want to warn people because that was terrifying. ”

He doesn’t acknowledge. He puts a completely different bar away on the rack behind me. Returns to the platform and without announcing drags the same bar he pushed 6 inches towards my face away.

Matt needs safety training along with customer service training since he is customer facing. You don’t own the gym. No one else here does either, but stop acting like everyone is using your garage gym without permission. You’re not my trainer and never will be. But you’re still a representative of the gym so act like it. Feel free to check the cctv.

Friendly staff very clean gym relaxed atmosphere and a variety of equipment to suit all types of workouts.

They’ll never let you get rid of your membership. They try everything they can to keep taking money from your account! Already been dealing with the same issue for half a year. Can’t get it settled. Please pay attention to their written document. They wouldn’t admit what’s been discussed verbally.

What a terrible service! In the search for a gym I decided to take the 5-day trial and unfortunately I couldn't even enjoy it due to excuses every day that prevented me from entering. I definitely do not recommend this gym!

I am a victim of financial coercion from this gym, you get 1 month of practice for free, but when you cancel your contract, you will still be penalized for 1 month:). Moreover, every time Fitness First didn't get my money, they didn't notify me or have any form of notification. The only thing they told me was the overdue notice with the amount of money that haunted me. I accepted the overdue payment but don't know why a few weeks later I got another overdue notice and this loop left me financially drained and really stuck. Those who are planning to join the "dream contract of FF" wish you luck. Fitness First CS, if you see this review, I need you to contact me and explain this to me.

The way in which staff and management engage with women of colour is disgusting. The bullying sales tactics and inability to confirm cancellation were very disappointing.
The business practices at this centre require sanitation. Clean up your act.

Great size gym with absolutely everything you need weights and machine wise. Excellent change rooms. I don't do classes so cannot comment on them. Plenty of parking, and conveniently located right near the food court, in case you're trying to bulk up! Lol.

One of the more organized and tidy FF gyms in the city. Spacious lockers that are kept relativly clean. Lots of equipment and free weights and room for stretching and core exercises.

Staff are horribly rude and and only care about money. The manager of the gym is fake and rude and does not do anything good for the gym or it’s members. The classes and pt’s are good but the rest of the staff are all very fake and money hungry. Not worth the money or your time.

I love doing sessions, its really fun to do the sessions with person trainer called Thong, hes really nice and kind but the money is eating me hehe, need an 20% discount every fortnight would be lovely!

They have very poor customer service, if you have any issues/concerns and ring in, they always say they will call you back, but that is not the case. You will always need to follow up to see what’s happening. Apparently, the manager is always in a “meeting” and can never get on the phone. Furthermore, they misinform you about your membership being cancelled (you will still keep being billed), even if you have given them a 28 day notice. They’ll make promises they can’t keep when signing you up (i.e you can leave the contract early, there will be penalties or charges), but then when it actually comes to cancelling, they go back on these promises. Would not recommend this club.

About a month before my contract ended I requested my membership to be cancelled, the staff member said I would still have to pay until the end of the contract (absolutely fine) but didn’t actually stop my membership. When I enquired about it, I was told I need to give an additional 28days notice. Victoria Gardens are just money hungry and very unhelpful. I am disappointed in my experience here and the fact that they are still withdrawing money from my account.

Additionally, the Victoria Gardens staff contacted my emergency contact stating that I had referred them to there gym. My emergency contacts details are said to be confidential and it is unprofessional to call my contacts without my permission in hope of poaching them.
