Fitness First Bayside

Excellent gym. Friendly staff. Excellent instructors. Friendly community of mixed people; athletes and beginners. Good facilities. Has a pool and steam room. Usually bump into someone local while there.

It would be good except you have to deal with people talking on the phone all the time. So not a place to go if you want a relaxing workout environment. Raised it with staff but they never did anything about it, not even a sign…

Pool is not available half the time, and when it is half the pool is permanently closed off. Various other issues like they won’t answer their phone, a bit messy, lost property, displayed pool opening hours are not updated and the reception staff are hit and miss.

Gym floor is filthy with very dated equipment. Lost property has absolutely no system where staff open a random drawer and then just shrug at you. Can’t wait to get out of the contract.

Gym is okay and staff is nice but maintenance is a big issue. Machines are always out of order and staff doesn’t know when they will be fixed.

I don't know why the membership is so expensive when the gym really isn't very good at all, Very old equipment and things were broken. Paying premium price for nothing. Better options elsewhere.

Last thursday, I went to this gym for a swim after a short brake. When I was having a brake, a member of the staff came and literally poured out the leftovers from his mug into the swimming pool right next to me.
I could only hope that it was jut water, but nevertheless I decided to finish half way through and got off the pool.
2 start because gym's ok.

It's good only if you're going to use everything it comes with, otherwise it's quite expensive for just regular gym use. Though it's kept in great condition and very clean with lots of good equipment.

The front staff and pts there are super friendly and welcoming usually when you go to gyms like that the pts a very standoffish and think there gods gift but over at this particular fitness first they’re actually super cool and positive which makes a big difference! Front staff super nice to particularly the afternoon there’s a blonde hair lady with tattoos and sometimes there a couple blokes there real friendly! It’s always nice walking in and they are very polite and welcoming! Great job guys!

Best gym in Bayside. Great staff. The only small let -down is equipment maintenance sometimes patchy

Wanted to love this place as it's close to my home, it's 24 hours and everyone is really nice, but man it's always too warm in the gym (especially at night, practically a sauna), a bunch of the equipment is out of order and has been for a while, 2 of 3 drink taps are warm and low pressured, common occurrence to see flickering lights and the swimming pool is also too warm.

This gym is an absolute mess, grime everywhere toilets unsanitary, and steam room stinks like urine, good luck getting a machine to work out at from 5-6.30,

Great staff and PTs. But whoever is organising the group classes is screwing things up.

When I joined there were a wide range of classes that has been slowly been replaced by PUMP, specially on the best hours.

Variety is key, but apparently is not what they think. Bring on more Body Combat, Attack and a decent instructor for Yoga and Pilates.

Gym floor is ok, trainers are great but group classes variety is horrible.

Great place. Great vibes. Really like the young Senior Sales Operations guy.forgot his name but was super helpful & definitely needs a raise!

Great place to train. Friendly staff and members, clean and pleasant environment, great equipment. Would recommend highly to everyone.

Significant improvement from a year ago and deserving of my revised 1 star rating to a 5 star rating. Brodie & Emily are deserving of a pay rise for their customer service engagement & attentiveness overseeing my membership renewal. What a difference a friendly greeting and warm farewell makes as well!

Great gym though needs more supervision of covid compliance by a minority of members who don't always use towels or antiseptic wipes. Covid is still very much here and is a worry to many older members

Moved across from Goodlife 5 years ago when I fell pregnant knowing they had a creche. My 2 kids have been going to the creche since they were 6 months old and absolutely love it. The group fitness classes on offer have been great but recently keep changing the times and regularity which is frustrating. Saddened to find out a couple of weeks ago that the creche is closing so I now have to cancel my membership as during the day is the only time I can get there. I know this is a decision that has come from the top, as all fitness first creches are closing but it's still disappointing that very little was done to increase the attendance in childcare. There has never been any advertising for the creche, no increase in fees to try to increase revenue and no consultation with creche staff nor parents who send their kids to the creche.

This is such a terrible business decision. So many parents affected Australia wide and will have a huge impact for parents physical and mental health, if they can't work on their health and fitness.

A huge thanks to Catherine in the Creche and her team, they have done an incredible job in looking after our kids, creating a beautiful space for the children with so many activities which change almost daily.
Having done walk throughs of others creches attached to gyms this week, none come close to what was offered at fitness first Bayside Playzone.

So disappointed at Fitness First decision makers for this change. Will not be recommending this gym as I was for the past 5 years.

Have loved this gym for 7.5 years and formed great relationships with some of the trainers and other members. But since the closing of the creche, I just cant go anymore. The decision to close the creches is heart breaking for the lovely ladies who work there as well as all the amazing mums who wish to socialise and have some precious me time!

Recently gym classes keep changing and FF has been getting rid of amazing experienced class instructors to be replaced with cheaper less experienced instructors.

I understand that COVID has changed everything, but unfortunately to the costs of members who have stayed loyal.

Disappointed.

I left a great gym with a great price and the best staff around (because I moved and it's an hour commute now) for a gym that go figure scams me the very first day out of the gate.

They tell me join now we have a 1 month free promo and then charge me the next day and blame IT. I spoke to them they said they will refund me and I'll recieve it in 5 business days. This was all lies.

Then I get an email from their third party debit service asking me to confirm the details of my contract are correct. Which they are not. Not only is my contract weekly pay when I had requested fortnightly, the third party said no refund request or 1 month hold on payment has been requested. So, I now have signed up under false pretenses after being pushed to take advantage of a non-existent deal.

Edit: they over charged me 4 more times immediately after this post. They charged me double the agreed amount and still refuse to let me leave the contract. I am stuck paying for a membership I don't want.
