Fish & chips shop reviews
24Tried this fish and chip shop today for the first time and will 100. % going back. Only ordered chips and potato cakes. Homemade potato cakes were the absolute best we have had in years. Clean oil super crunchy. Beautiful clean shop. Highly recommend
Wow, this is a great find - A great Fish and Chip Shop at 30 Railway Avenue, East Ringwood. First time we ordered Fish, Chips, Potato Cakes, Fried Dim Sim and Spring Roll. Food was so Fresh, Chips were Crunchy, Batter was Crisp, everything was Fresh and Tasty!
No dank smells that you get when food is unfresh and cooked in old oil. We recommend it to everyone. This will become our local now, it kills anything else around Croydon or Ringwood. We live in Croydon North but don't mind travelling for great Fish and chips. Thanks Guys you deserve a compliment for your care and quality produce.
Lindy Johnson.
Recently went back after many years of not going and the new owners have mastered the art of fish chips.
Had a great experience at this fish and chips shop, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was hot and delicious
Fish and chips are an Australian staple, which is why I find it strange that MOST cannot perfect it. THIS SHOP WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. I was greeted by the friendly staff when entering the store. They were then able to assist me with what would be the best deal for the amount of people i had to feed. A feed before a night out is super important so i was very thankful. Although the wait was about 15 mins, it is understandable on a warm Friday night. Overall, the service and food was really good and better than other shops i have tried in the area. Definitely worth a try.
Friendly staff, crispy fresh fish n chips. I've tried their burgers and suvlaki - all top shelf. Looking forward to the rumoured fried chicken.
Potato cakes are the best I've ever tried. Food is good and no smell of the re-used oil. I like this local fish&chips place.
The Ringwood East fish and chips at Ringwood East train station has been my favourite for a few years - well priced, fish well cooked every-time, whether grilled crunchy batter. Their two Grenadiers (good sized) with minimum chips for $13 is hard to be matched anywhere else!
Really disappointed, had potato cakes that I usually really love but the ones I had today were the wrong texture. They were like they were the frozen ones you can buy and cook. If you have started to use these to save time prepping, I suggest you don't. People will notice. I also had a scollop and the batter on it was really nice.
This is the best fish and chips in ringwood. Its a family run buisness. They have always delivered on great quality food.
I had a very unfortunate experience, tonight Friday 19.3.21, at the Ringwood East Railway Ave Fish and Chips Shop.
I ordered a pick-up over the phone, and was told it would be ready in15 minutes - I was order number 52.
I paid on arrival and then sat in the shop for 40 minutes as order numbers as high as 60 were served.
I finally asked how my order was going, and they fumbled on the computer and then gave me a Menulog Bag with my food.
I said "was it hot? " and they said "yes, just cooked". It wasn't hot. It had been sitting there on the counter all the time.
I threw it out and ordered a pizza.
Don't ever use this facility!
Go to Grey Shark on Old Lilydale Rd. Lawrie makes the best Fish and Chips!
WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. Loyal customer for over 2 years, extremely disappointed. Went to order, the lady serving us (who has served us before) decided to add extra dim sims to our order. We were willing to accept this as an honest mistake and went back to confirm that we were getting 6 dim sims not just being charged for extra food without getting it, she confirmed, 6 dim sims. Went to pick up our order, again confirmed, 6 dim sims. Started walking home, what do you know, only 2 dim sims! We came back to complain and were finally given our extra 4, but given them with soy sauce when specifically said no soy sauce. This compounded with the decrease in size of chips over the years (today we only got about 20 chips) while maintaining the same price has been a disgrace.
The wonderful people at The Fish & Chip Shop kept their open after they clean and were ready to go home. The food was delicious and the customer service was spectacular.
Shop opens at 11, rocked up at 12 and no sign of anyone in there.
Tried them again, food was super, super oily it soaked through two sheets of paper.
The lamb souvlakia is made from compressed meat. Texture and taste are terrible. Not real lamb. It is shaped to resemble cubed lamb. Disappointed. Barramundi was overcooked and tasted like the fish was kept in the freezer toI long- dry and flaky, not creamy. The chips were the only saving grace- yummy
Would not recommend this place, ordered a chicken souvlaki and the chicken was tough, bad looking and couldn't be chewed. It was given to the dog as a stick that looked like it was frozen together. The chips and dim sims were also very overcooked and a dark brown colour as if the oil had not been changed in weeks. Although this place is the local fish and chip shop closest to me, due to the poor quality of the food i will venture out into other suburbs, to order fish and chips again.
We have lived in the area for 38 years, we have seen fish and Chip shops come and go, trust me this is the best. Our kids are all grown up and moved away but when they visit they always put up their hands for takeaway from this shop.
Try the grilled flake which comes in a nice pancake like batter which is really nice and so much healthier than deep fried fish. If healthy is not your thing they have some interesting treats like a deep fried mars bars.
They give you a free bottle of drink for orders over $40 and they have a loyalty card which means we often get free chips.
A big waiting area with lots of seats and easy parking (even on Friday night you can always park across the road in the train station carpark.
Asked for a Whiting grilled and recieved a haiwayan burger. Should have replaced the order straight away and not argue and say you ordered haiwayan burger 5 times.
The piece of flake was the best I have had for years but the potato cakes were too overcooked to enjoy but were of a very good size with an extra one thrown in
