Fernwood Women's Gym Mitcham

Don’t join! Cancellation is a nightmare! I had to spend 4 months to cancel the gym membership, which is unbelievable!

Joined the gym in Nov 2022. I asked to cancel on Nov 2023, believing that my one year contract had ended. I was then advised by the staff to come back and cancel the membership in Feb because the account was frozen for two months, which I can understand. However, when I asked the staff to cancel in Jan 2024, I was told that the membership could only be cancelled in March because they require two further direct debits after the cancellation notice.

I would appreciate it if the cancellation policy was explained in detail in the first place instead of just advising me to “come back in Feb. ” I would have came four weeks (two fornightly direct debit) earlier to cancel the membership if I had been informed about this policy when I first asked to cancel it in Nov 2023.

I also had a read of the reviews. Apparently, it is not only me who experienced this cancellation nightmare. The cancellation issue has been an ongoing issue for this gym for years and I don’t think they are actively trying to resolve this issue despite multiple feedbacks, which kinda showed the true colour of this gym.

Amazing gym, amazing staff so welcoming and very knowledgeable. Always greeting with a smile when I walk in. Very clean environment. There is lots of equipment to choose from.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a all female gym every penny well spent.

I really love Fernwood Gym. It is a safe, non-judgmental place for women of all ages, cultures, sizes and shapes. Some of the strongest, fittest woman are the oldest and that is so inspirational. The kitchen seating area is a great space to sit and chat, the hot showers when needed with deodorant and hairdryers provided and the smiles on everyones faces as they banter between and during activities is lovely. There is a great range of classes and equipment for all workout preferences. My only request is for more 30 min classes between 5-7pm at night.they really do work for busy women.

I’ve been a member here for a few years and think it’s a great gym with friendly staff and members. I particularly enjoy attending the ‘stay and play’ classes that are on three times a week now that Fernwood Mitcham doesn’t have a crèche.

Great being part of a great gym, we have everything, sauna, weights, cardio, pilates, yoga, a member for life, pun intended

Amazing gym! I love the 6am classes. There are many variety to suit everyone’s. Staff and instructors are very friendly. The new owner has made some positive improvements since taking over. Highly recommended.

Fernwood Mitcham is a great place to start your active day, it’s open 24 hours so flexible times for me to complete my everyday workout. I love the sauna and friendly staff. Loads of group fitness activities too.

Love this gym so much! Friendly staff, great facilities and instructors, lots of new equipment (love the experiential bike rides & sauna), really wide-ranging timetable of classes, lounge area for a cup of tea - all of this at really reasonable membership rates, what's not to love? Happy member since 2103.

Gym atmosphere was always warm and welcoming, staff members were there to offer help whenever needed, enjoyed my time there in a judge-free environment!

This is my favourite gym in Australia. The ladies here are super friendly and the facilities are so clean and well maintained. I also love that the sauna is included in the membership

I cancelled my membership and paid for the $200 but still need to pay for 2 direct debits. Not flexible. They just want your money.

Fernwood Mitcham is one of only a handful of female only gyms that has a superbly decked out weights area. I feel so much more comfortable in a gym like Fernwood when working out, but have found that so many female gyms have really underequipped weights areas - but thankfully not Fernwood Mitcham! It is so good that there is a range of equipment and especially free weights and machines. Facilities are always clean, and well maintained, and I am loving seeing new equipment and upgrades being added.

For women and young ladies who want to train without those extra eyes watching their every move, Fernwood is the place to be. The best and latest equipment, high tech cardio machines, enough that there is no waiting and the kitchen facilities are wonderful with complimentary breakfast and coffee when you need it. All the classes are fantastic I can't be any happier with Fernwood.

Just love this gym, great place to workout with beautiful people. Staff always make you feel so welcome.

I have worked at a handful of gyms and Fernwood Mitcham takes the cake. The other staff members and management are lovely, going above and beyond for members health goals. It has such a zen and welcoming feel, no matter what time of day you attend you are always greeted with a smile by everyone, members and staff.

If this gym had a sauna it would have 5 stars! Sauna has so many added health benefits. There is massive demand for hot and cold therapy especially at a women’s gym!

Was not happy with my experience with this gym. Also very expensive considering they don't have a pool, sauna, spa or alot of machines that are at other gyms. The childcare is also only open 9-12 so that also wasn't much help.

Possibly the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with. After harassing me for months about joining the gym i received yet another phone call on yet ANOTHER new phone number from the manager pressuring me to join the gym. After going back and forth I was starting to get overwhelmed and agreed. Within a couple of hours of agreeing and giving my details I received the contract and decided I would not be signing it. I called them back to let them know as well as sending them an email. They tried to convince me otherwise but I said no. They continued to call me multiple times after this even though I had blocked all associated numbers and then on Saturday night I was charged the sign up fee of $159? ! When I never signed the contract? Will definitely be contacting the ACCC.
You all should be ashamed of the way you conduct business.

Worst customer service experience I’ve had. Required 3 attempts over a month (in person, via call and via email) in order to follow up on my request to cancel my membership. Head office decided to cancel the crèche service after 6 months of joining which is the only reason why I signed up for the gym. Requested for the cancellation fee to be waived as they are cancelling the service that allowed me to attend the gym. They’re able to hand out complimentary $50 vouchers to use in the gym but not able to waiver their $300 cancellation fee? Definitely $$$ fuelled rather customer service focussed. Pity.
