Courts complex housing in excess of about 25 court houses in a modern building with good amenities. Federal Circuit Court and Family Courts are based here. As usual there is security clearance as you enter, and two main registries - one on Level 1 and the other on Level 7 handle all the admin matters. Court houses are very well set with an element of privacy in the waiting areas. Drinking water is available and toilets are well spaced and clean. The building is bright and clean and not depressive as many courts are. Only issue I had was at the L1 registry where wait times for attention was excessive. Oh.and the building is just next to the Flagstaff station and the Flagstaff Gardens where you can pop out for a picnic lunch or to get some oxygen to clear your head before your case.

People should mediate. The family lawyers have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Our judge had complained about doing financial disputes and took 3 and a half years just to write things down. Then added assets and liabilities instead of deducting it. Hopeless.

MODERN HIGH RISE BUILDING HOUSING THE FEDERAL COURT
Many of Melbourne's courts are still located in buildings constructed 100 years ago. The Federal court by contrast is a modern building above Flagstaff Station.
Easy access from the station itself and from trams running along Latrobe and William Sts

Its a mess. Everyone disobeys court orders. There is no scheduling. Everyone thinks the place is a scam. My ex husbands lawyer muttered under his breath that Judge Kirton was an imbecile- which she most certainly isnt. No one has any respect, judges pluck numbers out of thin air, barristers treat it as a joke, its quite mad.

These ill educated judges dont have a clue about the best interests of children - other than their own. Shame on Judge DIcky Chisholm and any judge who failed to stand up to his now discredited theories about access time for men. This isnt a court- its a club for the dregs of the legal profession. Do the right thing, resign, and apologise.

They are a joke, can't believe. That they have banned subtle for movie, how do they expect, people with hard of hearing or deaf people, to watch movies or other tv show with out the subtle, next thing, they going banned all dvd movie with subtle, news and other tv program, that show subtle, judge are totally stupid.

They do not answer their phones and do not return your calls even though you have left a message.

Not good enough as we are not a third world country. I have had further dealings with the Federal Court and they are 100% in favour of the applicant.
I went to the Federal Court on 2/5/2019 as a respondent and requested an adjournment of 60 days and it was flatly denied by the registrar. The applicant insisted on a 21 day adjournment.
His request was approved.
The applicant changed his mind later, and requested to have the matter heard on the 13/06/2019 which is a 21 day extension.
I was not informed of this application to extend the hearing date.
It was approved.
The Federal Court is a shambles.
The application was done via ecourt in Sydney even though the first hearing was in Melbourne.
Registrar Morgan approved it.
If you think you are going to get a fair hearing in any court in Australia then you are sadly mistaken.
It reeks of elitism and exclusion on every level.
When the house of cards comes tumbling down we will not have enough prison space in Australia to house these miscreants.
