Federal Coffee reviews
70It was early in the morning when I had purchased from here out of convenience, there was about one group of customers already seated and waiting for their food and I was the second customer therefore there was no excuse to why I was given such poorly prepared food and drinks. I ordered takeaway coffee and croissant as I was in rush, however to my surprise they heated up my croissant so much it burnt and I could taste that from just the first bite, along with that my coffee was served completed cold. I had reached out to Federal Coffee about this however they had at first promptly replied and after suggesting I revisit the store to give it a second chance no response was made after my reply. Makes me really question the service, it doesn’t just reflect this one time experience but the cafe itself and management
Dirty tables and constant draft in the corridor with sparrows flying overhead.not fresh ingredients for dishes, stuff who have no idea of basic knowledge of cooking. The food is coarse and tasteless and all of this at astronomical prices.
After such a meal you will have a volvulus and will be taken by emergency.
Save me God to visit this place again!
Ambience of being in the city is always nice but food was average. Pricing of the food was reasonable for what you get but the quality could be better.
Waited 15 mins for 2 eggs our way but then got told that there was no hollandaise sauce, after asking to change our food and not finding anything to our like we went to pay for the drinks that we ordered (nearly $40 for a coffee and 2 chocolate milk shakes) they tried charging us for the food we didn’t even get because they couldn’t supply it (which was going to be around the $90 mark). After getting the manager involved they reluctantly didn’t charge us.
Only thing that place has going for it is the atmosphere.
Yummy ‘Pork Belly Egg Benedict’ and smooth coffee.
Cannot wait to try other new dishes! Will come back again!
Update nov23: They have updated their menu and there are some interesting dishes, like this delicious bowl of Vanilla & Passionfruit Porridge, with added milk. See pic: like a painting on a plate.

Jay, the waiter, added a lot of friendliness to my visit and was keen to keep me happy.
Blue Swimmer Crab scrambled eggs are cooked to perfection, not sloppy not hard/dry. 10/10
A great spot to linger, drink one's coffee whilst watching life go by.
My go-to place for excellent coffee. Worth mentioning that the food is delicious, service is outstanding and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend!
All outdoor seating but some heaters. Service was quick, food portions large and tasty. Reasonably priced but I don’t understand the extra charge for alternative milk
Was also charged $7 over the cost of my menu items for a side of hollandaise sauce
I ordered a toastie and requested no aioli and crispy bacon. It arrived WITH aioli and undercooked bacon. The staff claimed there was nothing they could do because I’d taken a few bites out of half of the sandwich (that’s how I discovered it wasn’t what I ordered). They offered to make a new one but I was in a hurry and to be honest didn’t have a lot of faith in them after this.
Service was poor and staff made me feel it was my fault for even eating some of the sandwich (which I paid for in full) and making a complaint. You might want to consider treating people better, especially as I was pretty polite to them in pointing it out and paid up without a fuss at the end. Do better next time.
A great spot in the heart of Melbourne City. Good vibes, friendly staff and even better food and drinks. Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone who is in the city and looking for a place to chill
An uninspiring breakfast which took half an hour to come out, after being forced to order on their mobile app menu. I also had to send my food back once since you can’t leave notes in the order
Used to love this place but last 2 visits are the last straw. I think the owner has changed because the people and menu has changed and it's pretty bad. No more shakshuka. Burnt toast. Just plain bad. It used to be pricey but good. Now just overpriced. Won't last long

Although it’s a great exposition of Melbourne café culture, the prices are a little steep and some staff weren’t the nicest.
The coffee here was great. With Industry Beans coffee, you can’t go wrong. However, it was $5 for a regular flat white, which is a little steep. I had a lunch here, an avo and eggs on toast. Can’t deny that it tasted great, but again, it was a bit pricy at $18.
It was a mixed bag with staff. Some of them weren’t very friendly or willing to help out, while others were helpful and amicable. I might have eaten on an unlucky day.
In terms of location, the café is well located in the heart of the CBD. It has nice seating that is outdoor but covered. There aren’t many, however, and it is often full or close to full.
Would recommend trying for a caffeine fix or a brunch/lunch if you don’t mind spending a bit more than usual for a meal.
This place used to be great, a treasure in the cbd. Now the owner has changed and it's dirty and the food, not great.
Amazing customer service displayed today. Was provided a free coffee and mimosa after dropping mine wt Brunch. Will definitely be returning!
Smashed avo and Cappuccino. Avocado was bruised and tasted well past its prime. Roast tomatoes cold and flavourless. Coffee just ok
The service was so awful, the attitude was gross.we used the store app to order the food, and took us at 2 hours of waiting, then we ask what happen, they just say oh we didn’t see the order without any apologies.we asked for refund, they said you have to send an email to ask the app. So ridiculous,
Happy to visit Federal Coffee. The magic was awesome and French toast was perfectly presented and delicious.
The staff were really kind and helpful. They ran out of the crab for the crab omlette, but was still a breakfast feed.
