Fankhauser Apples

What great apples. I have never tasted such juicy and flavoursome apples.

My name is Claire and I’m an apple addict.

As I enter and drive along the long driveway my eyes are given a glimpse of the magical trees that produce these amazing, blushed nuggets of goodness. At the end of the drive the beauty reaches its peak as the stunning garden comes into view. A long row of roses is blessed by the most magnificent collection of well established, mature feature trees.

When I finally peel (pun intended) my eyes off the garden the next thing that appears to the left is an adorable wooden shed that made me think straight away of the movie Calamity Jane (showing my age - google it, millennials).

Eventually the memory of why I’ve come returns. APPLES! There it is! The Shed! I’m drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Then the lovely staff appear and ask what I’d like. Well, (awkward) in my mind I want the entire tub in front of me but I know I can’t eat them all so I give myself a mental slap to the head and ask for 3 kg. I get seconds. I can’t understand why these are seconds. They are stunning.

As I hand over my coins, in my head, I’m already eating one. All I can think of now is to get back to the car so I can get my laughing gear around one of these babies.

Teeth in. Break skin. Spurt of juice. Crrruncheroonie! Oops! I think my heart stopped! Oh! There it goes again. I just sit in awe practicing mindful eating while I enjoy the first few crunchy, fresh, sweet, wonderful mouthfuls.

At some point my mind returns from heaven on Earth and my thoughts intrude on my apple moment with the reality that I’ve got to get on with the rest of my day. I drive at crawling pace as I soak up that garden once more, then drool at the sight of rows upon rows of apple trees and finally turn out of the driveway. Still munching on my delicious treat as I drive away, I’m empowered by knowing I have fully restocked my secret weapon for another week.

Crunch, crunch, slurp, slurp, munch, munch, yum, yum.

They are by far the best apples i have ever tasted you can tell by just driving into there property the orchard is well cared for so neat and there apple trees look beautiful!
