3 I contacted Michael with some target birds and very little time. Unfortunately the Roost (their accommodation) was not available but Michael still had the time to guide me for 1 1/2 days, first on a nearby National Park, and one morning on their lovely property. The service provided was excellent, Michael is a really great bird guide, knows the places very well, and is super friendly and pleasant person to spend time with. We managed all the targets possible for the short period of time, and I am already planning to return in a few months to explore other Mallee areas.
Highly recommend their services if you are into birding, photography (they set really nice bird hides), nature, or just want to spend some quality time on a beautiful property with amazing hosts.
Michael and Louise are great hosts for their lovely wild Sanctuary. While we didn’t stay the night as it was already booked, we were able to arrange a bird and nature-oriented tour of their rewilded land under a perpetual conservation easement. Michael was a knowledgeable, avid birder and gave us information on habitats to check for mallee specialties such as quail thrush and budgerigar. He gave us great tips on how to identify the myriad of thornbill species found in the area. We will be back! We immensely enjoy what they created and the local flora and fauna nearby.
Wonderful place to stay with expert guiding by Michael. An encyclopaedic knowledge of birds, plants and the ecology of the Mallee. The Roost is a comfortable place to stay with many birds to be seen from its porch.
