Eugenie French Cake Shop reviews
33 This shop is located just across the road from the trendy Prahran Markets. Just because a suburb is 'hip' doesn't mean I want that to affect my hip pocket. When in the area, I often pop in to Eugenie's for a snack and a French patisserie. They have the friendliest staff who clearly appear to enjoy their work. They make a mean sausage roll and their sweet selection is delectable and keenly priced.
If you're feeling peckish, might I suggest you have a snack here before heading for the market.
Absolutely amazing food, wide range of pastries that look to die for, keep in mind that the photo that I added isn’t all of the selection, absolutely coming back
So delicious. Anytime I’m Southside I make sure I get myself a treat here. It’s consistently good and service is 10/10
Best cakes in Melbourne handsdown. I love local family businesses that have been around for years. Always supporting them! Service is 10 out of 10
Eugene’s freshly baked Madeleines were a revelation. Wish we lived in Melbourne - well worth a visit!
A lovely neighbourhood gem with no frills, delicious, reasonably priced treats. Warm, friendly service is the cherry on top!
Best vanilla slice “mille-feuilles” in the area! They make also one of the best croissant. Staff very friendly. We love this place for our sweet treats.
Absolutely the best croissants! Yum! Recommended my father to go there also. Apple pie and apple Danish are both delicious! Very friendly family owned business!
Yesterday, I purchased a chocolate mousse cake, and it was delicious. Excellent customer service and a tempting aroma of croissants greet you as you enter the bakery. Would surely visit this place again.
The smell of this place brought me in. I've never noticed it before. The coffee was really good and the ham and cheese croissant, delicious! I also bought a small apple pie but haven't eaten that yet. Looks amazing.
I have liked everything that I have tried here; especially the chocolate eclairs and florentines; the coffee is good too, and the ladies there are really lovely and friendly.
My friend and I went for coffee and cake yesterday. Great location right outside prahran market - rightfully deserves the title of best chocolate eclairs. It was just bursting with cream. We also had a sour cherry Danish and pies. Everything was good. I got coffee and takeaway orange cake - no complaints. The service was with a smile. The shop is not much to look at - but take yourself inside. Another lady who visited recommended the chocolate mousse cake - amazing she said. Also, prices are better than in the area. Try it out.
I just bought the most delicious nenish tart with the pink and chocolate icing & cream inside I haven’t had a good one since I first had them bought for me when I was a child. This one was delicious!
We are going to be back for more & will make it a place for me & my daughter to buy treats. Such a happy day.
I'm allowed out of hospital for 2 hours a day. I head here for the best neenish tart in town, and I've had few.
Wouldn't really call this a French cake shop. Picked up a few treats Thursday. Was really disappointed as I can do better myself. The tarts and pastries taste how they look, pretty dismal. The neenish tarts were awful. I don't know what went on there. The pastry was ok but the mock buttercream was stodgy hard and not smooth. It tasted like there was lard or copha in it. If you don't use decent butter then people can tell. There was hardly any jam inside and there was a strange small sponge disc inside the tart. Didn't even finish eating it.
The croissants were again, tasted like a really cheap butter had been used and were too lifeless and soft and flat. Not how a croissant should be. I don't mind if it's not pretty but it's got to taste good or at least pleasant.
Customer service was non existent.
Had some almond tart and it's good.
Regarding this shop, it's at the heart of top suburbs of Melbourne, but doesn't draw attention. (exteriors & interiors too). A bit of touch up is much needed, and can really shine this place.
Also, Not sure if the staff is the actual, or regular staff. But didn't talk at all, inspite i initiated a chat.
So ratings are -
Staff - does the job - 3/5
Product - so far, generic experience - 4/5
Location - 5/5
Ambiance - 3/5
Always tempted into patisseries by delicious cakes in window displays, on this occasion it was a glistening chocolate eclair that caught my eye. The funky treble clef also helped seduce me in. The lady working here was really nice and the pricing was quite good.
There was a decent array of sweets and pies, but the eclair was my choice. The choux pastry was lovely, and I really enjoyed the creamy filling. It was huge, so perfect for sharing; and definitely a yummy afternoon tea treat. Eugenie patisserie has some great qualities, and I would be happy to try more of their treats.
French pastries, tarts and cakes of high quality and great service. Have gone many times - consistently impressed with the buttery, flaky pastry and light, milky/creamy custard. Everything I've tried is great and the pastries and custard tarts with apricots are particularly special in my opinion!
Their croissants are delicious - buttery, flaky & perfect! The little assorted biscuit bags on the counter top are alright - wouldn’t purchase them again! Good service. Will surely be frequenting this place!
Stopped in on a Monday I think. Fast, efficient, and courteous service. This place has a nice feel to it.
