Epworth Freemasons (Clarendon Street) reviews
51If you ever stay here this would have to be the best hospital around great staff and great surgeons
Hi there
I was at Epworth Hospital at Albert Street for day surgery on 24 November 2023. My experience at the hospital was nothing short of FANTASTIC form the doctors, nurses and support staff. A special heartfelt thanks to all the nurses at the Day Surgery Unit. Despite the demands of their roles, they did a fantastic job in looking after the patients. They give credit to their profession. Thank You very much!
Heartfelt regards
Herman Jude Oliver Fernandez
I went in for a day procedure and a stay overnight. The hospital itself and the staff were nice. I feel like I was previalidged to have HAYLEY as the nurse who took care of me. She is the epitome of what a nurse truly is. Caring, patient and so helpful. I can't express my gratitude enough because no problem was too big for her. She should be rewarded and praised.
Special mention to Isabel, She was also fantastic.
The worst after surgery care I've seen in my life. I was a private patient and paid not a small amount but have been allocated to a shared room of 4 people, where was so much noise day and night that I could not rest after surgery for 2 days. Ther was so little room there that every nurse would bump into my bed and shake me sending a surge of pain through my body. Can't belive how much I paid for this horror.
Run don't walk away!
Pre Operation:
- Nurses and doctors were amazing, no complaints.
Post Operation:
- Nurses were very unprofessional, I had multiple nurses and on multiple occasions forgotten to give me pain killers, lost some important documentations, told me incorrect information and lacked empathy. I did have one mature lady nurses which was the stand out, she was amazing. The younger nurses lacked professionalism, one even started saying “ewww” when she saw blood.
If you ever need gynaecological surgery, I highly recommend this hospital. All of the staff were amazing, from the catering staff, to maintenance and cleaning staff, the recovery team, admission staff and the nurses on ward 1 are definitely angles on earth. They go above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable and happy. Being in hospital isn't an enjoyable time, but having such beautiful people around you makes it so much better. Although all the nurses attending to me over 3 days were amazing, I have to have a special mention to Maread (May). She is absolutely beautiful and definitely has picked the right career for her. She's so caring, attentive, professional, time giving, polite and just makes you feel like family. Epworth are lucky to have such beautiful people on this ward. The surgeon Kent Kuswanto is amazing and caring and all the team in recovery were so amazing also. I have no faults to give about my stay at Epworth Freemasons.
I’m not happy because I was there overnight
Around 8 pm arrived. After surgury
They told me we don’t have soup or soft food for dinner, gave me club sandwiches. I had tube on my throat so it’s sandwich no good for me!
And another thing, after surgery under my tongue had a cut it’s pain full for me
No one not explain or response
Before surgery my tongue didn’t have any problem
The Care & Compassion right from the Cleaner to my Proffesor, have been here for nearly 2 weeks and have over one week to go, I can not stress enough how Wonderful my stay has been
Feeling Calm and so safe, so so grateful to be here at such a Sad time of my life
Keep up the Good Work everyone, you sure are Heroes in my Eyes
Mary Borg Ward 2 East
I’ve stayed here before with no issues but this this my experience wasn’t as pleasant.
My room was situated next to the nurses desk, it was loud and noisy and I always had to ask to get the door completely shut.
Not sure when the last time was the cleaning staff attended, as my bathroom is absolute filth and I can’t clean it in my post op state.
The nurses have been great and the food has been good.
Had a day procedure at Freemansons. Very grateful for the caring support from the level 3 DOSA team. Such lovely and professional team made me feel safe and comfortable the whole time. A special mention to Steven from the nursing team who took such good care of me on the day until late night, made sure I was recovered and comfortable enough to go home. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone you are in good hands
My sincerest gratitude to the team at Epworth Freemasons (in particular the team at 124 Grey Street). The efficiency, professionalism and quality of care were exceptional, and I would highly recommend the team to any family of friends.
A special shout-out to my immediate team Dr Chatura Jayasekera (surgeon, and an absolute superstar), May (anaesthetist, such a talented, warm and lovely person - she nailed my cannula, I barely felt it), Tayla (receptionist, provided a very lovely welcome), Chase (administration nurse, what a delight! So knowledgeable and personable), Luna (anaesthetic nurse, so lovely and professional, made me feel very at easy), Erica (recovery nurse, she very graciously dealt with my chatty recovery, smiling all the while) and Elizabeth & Anna (short stay nurses, very patient and caring, felt very supported by them both). Thank you to each and every one of you - and to those people working in the background.
This is the most disgusting hospital aesthetically and service wise. PLEASE DO NOT SUBJECT YPURSELF OR MORE IMPORTANTLY A SICK LOVED ONE TO THIS THIRD WORLD MESS.
Had a day procedure and every single staff member was warm, kind and professional. All my information was checked and checked again to make sure there would be no problems. There was someone guiding me through every step of the process, and I cannot count the number of times I was asked “are you ok, do you need anything”.
Great staff, lovely and helpful. Food is amazing for a hospital. Thanks to all the staff that looked after me for 6 nights️ It’s an old building so don’t expect the crown
To the admission staff, nurses and doctors on the third floor who took care of me. The level of care that you gave me from the moment I walked in until I had completed my surgery was phenomenal. There is a clear ethos that you have running through your hospital as it shows up in every person I met. Thank you so much. You made me feel safe and cared for.
Call to see if my uncle is in the Hospital or discharge. Responder was so rude n nasty. Dont understand what kind of nightingale is she. Sad to say she's not perfect in that job or had a bad day n take it out to the customer. She need to go back n learn customer care.
Awesome experience at this hospital- had my first baby delivered here and the staff are incredibly supportive and friendly. They made the most difficult journey of baby birth so comfortable and easy. Best food, best stayfive star restaurant quality and experience.
Day procedure here, which went smoothly, very friendly and lovely nurses. Bit confusing to navigate around.
Had a procedure and stayed for two nights afterwards. The admin staff were helpful, the doctors thorough and the nurses very understanding. There wasn’t a changeover of shift where the new nurse didn’t come in to introduce him or herself, and they were patient and understanding of any post surgery complications I raised, armed with anecdotes and solutions. Overall very pleased this was where I was admitted and hope that any future hospital visits are this pain free (in the non physical sense!).
Had a fantastic experience at Epworth Freemasons Albert Street. Had a gynaecological procedure performed and was well looked after. All the staff were really lovely and helpful.
From the staff (Laura and Victoria) on DOSA (Admissions) who made me laugh and had a great chat and made me comfortable, to the Anaesthetist Alan Tse who was very efficient at his job and popped the cannula in, in one smooth action when most sturggle to cannulate me on the first attempt.
All the staff in the operating theatre.
My nurse on the recovery ward, I can't remember his name, but I was in so much more pain then I anticipated that I woke up swearing, he took it in his stride and quickly got on top of my pain management and brushed off my apologies because I felt so guilty for the swearing.
Then Emma on 1 West. I was on there for a couple of hours, and she was very attentive. It got a bit messy at one point, and she was completely reassuring about it all.
The hospital has been updated and is clean and fresh. There was nothing concerning with my stay and I'd happily go here again despite it not being near my local area.
I've been to Epworth Eastern Day Surgery before, so I know from experience that I'm in good hands with the Epworth Team.
