This place has something for everyone with a diverse range of solo and partner styles, fun social nights, and performance opportunities. The teachers are all amazing and can cater to any level from complete beginner to advanced. I love how passionate they are about music and dance, and how they are dedicated to help us become the best versions of ourselves. Overall a friendly and inclusive environment with amazing people and fun classes. I cannot recommend this enough.

This place is just amazing, i am a left feet and started to learn samba and zouk there. Angela is an awesome teacher and she can teach anybody dance, her analogies are just relatable. If you are afraid to start partner dancing I highly recommend the samba classes that they have. Also if already dance something but want to improve it further, it is the best place. Apart from that i love the vibe and community that they have built <3

I joined Energia studios about six months ago after spending two years at another dance school (where I initially learned dancing). I attend most of their classes through their $47 weekly membership.

Energia's online classes have not only helped me stay sane during the pandemic, and I have also lost 5kg since joining! My body is a lot more flexible, and my general fitness has improved. Joining Energia has been life changing for me!

Why you should join Energia:

- Everyone is very welcoming, and the environment feels safe - this is especially important if you are just starting to dance.
- There is a tight net of outstanding dancers (~15-20), but you will never feel left out. They are always helpful, giving you feedback when you need it (if the instructors are busy).
- Small classes! You will get feedback, and the instructors care about your progression even if you do not take private classes.
- Classes are both fun and challenging.
- The teachers are very passionate about dancing. Most of them have competed and won prizes on an international level. You will be learning from Australia's best!
- You can get a weekly membership for $20 a week (online) and $47 a week (in-class).
- A variety of dance styles. Due to the pandemic, they only offer Salsa, Bachata and Samba at the moment, but there is usually a lot more. They also offer Pilates classes.
- Access to over 400 recorded classes with any membership, ranging from their regular dance styles to Ballet, Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Stretch classes, Cha Cha and many more!
- Ultimate training: this is for anyone who wants to bring their dancing to another level. It's free if you are on any in-class membership!
- Energia runs performance shows twice a year (whenever possible). Their last one was with a live band called Calle Luna! I took part in it - it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. You will learn a lot during the three months of preparation.

Reasons not to Energia:

- If you like very large classes.
- If you don't actually want to learn dancing but just memorise some routines.
- If you have to have social dancing after class. Energia only has social dancing after class every other quarter of the year due to performance practice.

The instructors at Energia I had contact with:

- Angela: Salsa (on 1) & Samba (and Bachata)
She is the founder and co-owner of the studio. She teaches online classes and runs the school in the background while she is interstate. Whenever she visits Melbourne, you might see her teaching a Salsa or Samba class.
She is a great person to chat with. I have yet to meet someone who would dislike her. Her teaching style is very student-centric, and she is someone who loves and lives dancing.

- Laura: Salsa (on 1 and 2) & Bachata
She is the co-owner of the studio. Her classes can be very light and fun at times, especially during a lockdown, but also very technical and informative. She knows where to push and challenge you, with an eye for detail.

- Mario: Salsa (on 1 and 2), Bachata & Dance Drills
No matter how down you feel, Mario's classes will lift your spirit. He is always full of energy and passion; I have never met a person who is so talented at everything he does. You will be inspired!

- Julie: Pilates
She is a professional Physiotherapist that runs the Pilates classes at Energia (they are my favourites). Her classes will improve your strength in important areas for your stability and longevity on the dance floor!

- Vikram: Salsa (Basics i)
Vikram recently joined the teaching team. He is very patient and attentive! A great teacher to start your dance journey.

- Roxane: Samba.
I've only had one class with her, but I thoroughly enjoyed it:). She is originally from France.

- Kristina: Tango
She is fun, knowledgeable and sometimes even teaches you some Spanish. I have learned a lot from her about keeping frame and leading. She is originally from Argentina.

- Nana: Samba (whenever Angela is away).
Her classes are quite structured and help you keep track of your progress. She is originally from Brazil.

The owner Angela Faith is a beautiful dancer, performer and an outstanding teacher. She is warm, fun and very easy to get along with. She genuinely cares about her students. Furthermore, she has the capacity to break down difficult techniques, to differentiate her teaching and to improve her students learning outcome. Her dance classes are fun, stress-free and full of positive energy. Being someone who took dancing as a hobby for 7 years, I highly recommend Energia.

Angela is one of the most dedicated dance teachers I’ve ever learnt from. She’s able to explain complex dance moves simply and makes it it an enjoyable experience for everyone. Especially love her sense of humour.

Energia Studios is a second home! The owner Angela is an award winning star whom we are so lucky to learn from. She is amazingly creative and the way she teaches is so informative and easy to learn from, as is the other teachers who are employed to teach and share their knowledge with.
The community which has been built here is like a second family where we have so much fun and are very supportive of each other and our goals.
I would definitely recommend anyone to give this place a go if you're looking to find a dance school who is welcoming, encouraging and fun!

Energia Studios is the bomb! It's not the biggest studio in Melbourne, but the owner and director, the inimitable Angela Fayth certainly has the biggest heart! Her dedication to building a wonderful studio and community is second to none, and her goal is to create a school and a space that allows each student to be their best self and to achieve their dance goals. Ang is well known in the dance community for her professionalism, excellence and achievements, but what is even more important is her incredible passion for teaching! You will get the same 'energia' from her whether you are just starting out on your dance journey, or have many years of experience and looking to take your competition performance to the next level. Whether you are 17 or 77, white or black, sequinned or non-sequinned, a lead or a follow, or both, you will always get her most genuine, committed self, her creative juice, her unique take on English and her sense of humour) In my experience of learning from her over the last 12 months, the thing that brings her the most joy in the entire world are her 2 cats Mija and Ranger (only kidding!) (but do look out for them interrupting her online Zoom classes) Her greatest joy is actually those moments when her students come alive through connecting with dance. Come and check out a class at Energia, online for now, and when it is safe to do so, in person at the studio. You'll know you are in the right pace when you come up the stairs, we'll be the group of dance students from all corners of the globe and all walks of life, hanging out and having the most fun! See you on the dance floor ;-)

Angela and her team have given me the best dance experiences I've ever had. From the welcoming, tight-knit family of social dancers who support and look after each other, through to the performance and competition training which has pushed me to be the best dancer I can be.

I cannot emphasise just how much quality and love there is in this little studio. Angela's teaching method is one of utmost care for each individual student - and it really shows.
