I have never come across an organisation with such a high turnover of administration staff in all my life. Clients are not advised of changes until they inquire if staff have left. Rosters are changed on clients without notice. This agency is about making profits and not about care of clients or employees.

My son was a participant living in one of Empowering Care's houses up until today. I am appauled and discusted in the way he as well as myself and staff was treated during his time there. During his time there we have been verbally abused, mistreated and disrespected by Marlene Schembri and some of her staff. We were illegally given 2 weeks notice to have my son leave the property due to myself and the plan manager questioning illegal charges and fee charged to my sons NDIS plan. My son was never formally told that he needed to vacate it was left upto myself and plan manager to tell him and prepare him for the move. Support staff leading upto his departure from the propery were instructed by Marlene Schembri to not help my son with any packing of his belongings. We send many emails as well as trying to contact Marlene by phone with no response or explination due to us needing an extention to get my son into safe housing. We were ignored and brushed off by office staff. This time has been distressful for myself and my son. My sons careteam has also copped the brunt of this behaviour while we all scrabled for accomodation. The final blow was the husband (Peter Schembri) of Marlene showing up at the property at 5pm tonight and forcing my son to put his belongings on the front nature strip while verbally abusing him, my elderly father and the support coordinator due to our removalists running late.
While Marlene seems sweet and friendly when you first sign up with empowering care, As soon as the money reduced when he turned 18 the care and support seemed to disappear and nastyness came out.
My son was moved 4 times by Empowering Care and it was charged to his plan for each move even though it wasnt his choice to move. Each move was distressful for my son.
My sons would like to add that his view on this is that he has made so many bonds and friends with his support staff that he consindered family and they were taken off him with no notice and he was never able to say his goodbyes to any staff that had left or been forced out. My sons view was also that if you want a company that is helpful and supportive and friendly, dont use this company.

We’re very grateful for the supportive way our older sister has been cared for over the past 6 years. The staff are always there for her, always encouraging and caring. Marlene has been so supportive with our family and her team are a credit to her caring nature.

I highly rate the care the understanding the knowledgement. They are there when required and needed they go out of there way in so many ways. The staff are highly skilled and trained. I highly recommend empowering care. Keep up the fantastic job.
