This is just my opinion- a culmination of my experience of 2 years at Emmaus. The facilities are pretty good, the school is well rounded overall.

On aspects in which the school should further improve:
The inter-curricular requirements should be of a higher standard-although I can empathise if this is not the focus of the schools' values. Some teachers do not seem fitting to their roles-someone I know of was taught by their teacher that the sole function of camel humps were to store water, whearas in reality incorrect-to store fat. There were some cases when i had inquired of something, only to be met with a blunt reply-denial to the answer at that particular stage of my schooling'. By ding misinformation and limiting knowledge, the school has ingrained in students minds an innacurate understanding of content and is therefore at fault.
Furthermore, student integrity is inconsistent; student discipline should be more closely monitored (for boys in particular) I recall an incident when some insolent kid poured liquid on the bus floor to an excursion. The bus driver's patience was unmatched and he was ultimately fired with 'lack of responsibility'-literally and figuratively thrown under the bus.
There have been several cases of racial and ablest bullying-I have personally witnessed some students whom I know that have been subjected to these threats (a major example being violence eg through dangerous objects)
Students also damage school property and vape on school grounds.

Sparing accusations, I have only been at this school for two years (across the span of remote learning and my opinion may be skewed)

We had a school tour this morning. Beautiful school with every facilities needed for a great education, but most impressive was the student guides who took us around, who are so knowledgeable, articulate, helpful and courteous. My daughter couldn't be more happier and looking forward to attending Emmaus College next year. Well done. 5 stars!

Emmaus is a great place for students to learn independence, especially the year 9 programs, and give them a choice to pursue their interests. While I do very much have bad experiences whether it be teachers, students or workloads, I still find the time to somewhat enjoy it. Depending on what kind of student your child is (what their interests are) they may love Emmaus or they may hate it but that's an opinion they will only gain through experience. There are many subjects that I stand out in such as English however the amount of homework set, or the teachers views on a topic will determine my grades instead of the knowledge I myself actually obtain. I had a very bad experience with three teachers in particular last year, one of which had a very "we didn't finish this in class so its homework" mindset. Although that logic makes sense the situations she used that logic was when she was talking so much that we had no time to complete it in class. A lot of my friends who were quite gifted in mathematics seemed to fail from the lack of time we were given to study the classwork. We were so rushed to finish the textbook that none of us understood the contents, the highest score that year was a 65% I believe. Surely you see a problem there. I would also like to say despite that, the Emmaus staff are adapting to our generation of students very well, even if it is slow. They are much more considerate of how our mental health may be lower after the recent situations we were placed in when beginning school. I am extremely grateful for that. I do however, have a problem with the recent pastoral changes on the timetable, I understand that may have been changed for reasons I am not aware of but if students were to arrive late to school, instead of missing pastoral they may miss part of a core subject. Ultimately, leaving them to fall behind if its a regular occurrence -. In addition to that, pastoral for us used to be time to check the bulletin and room changes for our classes of the day (as not all of us have the opportunity in the morning) and with that option now removed we feel a lot less organised in our arrival to school.
The sport program for Emmaus is not exactly the greatest. If your child wishes to pursue a life in sport I would not recommend Emmaus. I am a state level athlete and I was looking forward to the school athletics day however when I arrived I was disappointed by the amount of events they had. My strongest events are Discus, shot put and Javelin but there was no discus and Javelin was instead replaced with vortex. This is where Emmaus differs from other schools. I can see that most teachers do not take it seriously. I understand that yes, not everyone is as invested but it is unfair for those who wish to actually participate.
A lot of my peers would say they "hate" Emmaus, but most of them just don't have a reason to be there. When you have a reason to do something, or you're good at it, you will enjoy it more. This brings me to one of my R. E classes this week, "Free will exists not just so people can choose to be good or evil, but to give us a way to compare the two. " this is essentially saying that without the choice to do something, you don't know how likely you are to do it next time you're faced with an actual choice. Meaning that if I do something because I have to and not because I want to, I will have no way of knowing if I will do it when I'm an adult (and I'm free to make my own decisions.)
I've made some amazing friends in my time at Emmaus plus the aths / swimming days are very fun ahah
Send your child to Emmaus.

It is horrible how Emmaus will treat a troubled student they only have one method to helping anyone and that is punishment. I can not recommend this school to anyone!

Amazing school, the grounds are high quality, education is superior, known for its art and drama, great tours, lovely students and principle is sweet, expensive but the school is definitely worth it. Will be applying my kids here once they are old enough.

OMG, What a performance. I am in awe of the Drama Department, teachers, students, musicians, producers, lighting, back stage/prop designers & volunteers. The 'Adams Family' production I saw last night was incredible and I am speechless at the talent and experience. Thank you to Emmaus College for giving the students such wonderful opportunities. I am proud to have been a previous parent of the school.

I have been waiting to get into Emmaus for a year and they finally said Yes and then they said No which was heartbreaking for me and my family as it was my dream school for so long I suggest after they say no back off and go to another school

My son is in Year 7 at the School and the homework has been very manageable, apparently has reduced heaps compared to past years. Most Teachers are really caring and really competent. The Year level co-ordinator is great and so is Principal Mr Tony Hirst! Less expensive than Whitefriars and (way less than Yarra Valley Grammar) and great value overall.
