Embla reviews
75We had a really good night here. So many nice wines to try, delicious food and really good service. Would definitely return again soon.
Embla is a great place for a date or to bring a friend for an intimate catch up.
It's nice and cosy inside - perfect for the winter months, and the wine selection is amazing.
Service is good and fast!
Food was amazing too. Smaller plates, nothing too substantial, but tasty! My fave was the chickpea pancake!
Great to visit a place that celebrate the natural produce.simple, well prepared, enjoyable.and cost effective
It was a nice layout but the music was excessively loud for a wine bar, to the point where it drowned out all conversation and we had to leave.
Great ambience. Quirky wine selection. The home baked bread is divine. The only disappointment was the bavette as it was lacking flavour and the vegetables were way over steamed. The wipped cod roe was a true delight though.
This is a lovely little wine bar.
My wife and I went here for a few drinks pre-dinner.
We sat at the bar and went through an extensive wine list and chose some lovely reds.
Service was great and very friendly.
Good location and we would go back!
Have to say I was very impressed the minute I walked in here. The vibe of the place really suits the setting and it's décor. The food itself although we could have ordered more was simply amazing in my opinion. We had the fish chicken and chickpea pancake. Although all of the dishes were amazing in their own way I couldn't go past the chickpea pancake as being my favourite. Great drinks menu and with a huge wine selection. Well worth the visit should you be in the city.
I know everyone raves about it but i was a little frustrated. Firstly, yes they have an amazing wine list. However the options by the glass are limited and are agreeable to one end of the spectrum (fruit driven, not too much oak). If that's your thing then great. Also, I wouldn't go if anyone in your group isn't a wine lover and prefers a cocktail. The food is really tasty however again it is a fairly small menu, which might leave picky eaters scratching for more.
I absolutely fell in love with the creme caramel from the supper menu its so decadent and delicious. I paired my little treat with a nice sake-eske cocktail who h was super refreshing and complimented the fig really well.
This was a top recommendation. The food was incredible, loved their wine concept and selection and had a lovely time toute seul sitting at the bar watching the chefs and their craft. Highly recommend this place for dinner and some vinos but get there early because it fills up quick
We had a semi business lunch here and was extremely impressed with everything. Service was great, wine choices spectacular and the food was outrageously good.
We went the shared menu, and unlike every other place in Melbourne, they didn't just have a variation of the same menu. The food that came out was original, tasty, plentiful and just overall impressive.
The roast chicken with creamed sweet corn!
Every drink and dish I had at this place was fantastic, all the wines are natural or organic/biodynamic (and fantastic) and the nibbles were all awesome. No idea what it's like for a full meal (if that's even possible). Our waiter was really friendly and engaging, and we even chatted to one of the Chefs, Joe, who was super lovely.
Lovely wine bar/restaurant. Great selection of Pinot Noir, but lots of others too close from. Food looked good though we didn't try it.
Was greeted at door with friendly” have you made a reservation” one liner, was only surpassed by the plethora of choices on the to share menu which was a pleasure to deliberate over amongst friends, can recommend the snapper was perfectly cooked and the to share portion left us all dying for more.all washed down with the cheapest rum you can find in nicaragua! Would recommend for business lunch meetings if you don’t particularly like your clientele
Great venue and the sourdough bread was life changing. However the wine was hit and miss. We had some lovely wines and some bloody awful cheaper French ones. You don't expect that at a place like this. The sommelier dropped the ball on that one. Also, you'll spend *a lot* of money here. Also, marked down for overtly asking for a tip - not appropriate in well-paid Australia.
