Eltham Library reviews
35Great library in wonderful nature reserve, with good walking track alongside Diamond creek! Gallery is interesting, what I thought was school art exhibition was a display of artwork for sale.
Very well laid out library. Even has a fire place for cold winters. Staff are helpful. Eltham library also supports the arts and always has a display of different sorts of arts in the foyer (the foyer is dedicated to displaying art work)
Eltham library is dead used to have a nice Vibe now it's just a typical library they got rid of them beautiful couches to put more chairs in for that annoying book club that speak way too loud and want to be heard across the room sad day indeed
Took the fattest dump in their toilet. 10/10 wouldn't recommend using that toilet after that.
I used to enjoy coming here, as it had such a cosy country feel to it. It was a peaceful place to relax.
After today's visit, I am sorely disappointed. Libraries are supposed to be a quiet place, for everyone's enjoyment.
There was a loud group of people there, which was a big distraction. Not to mention the tacky plastic plants, that look ridiculous against the original decor. It's just not what it used to be.
Huge shout out to the wonderful people who helped me
They were extremely helpful and informative
Thank you
I visit this library almost weekly and have done for many years, I always park my car wherever there is a vacant spot and if that means under the bridge then so be it.
I have just received an $111 fine for parking in an area reserved for staff, I agree there should be an area for staff parking, I have a habit of always reversing into parking spots so as to make it safer coming out, I simply didn’t think and obviously missed seeing the sign as I parked my car, my wife a passenger (a book club member) also didn’t see the sign however regardless we accept I parked illegally as I am not a staff member but that is not my issue. I also admit to knowing that space was there but totally forgot, it happens.
I read in the library for a couple of hours and as I am a diabetic I went out to my car to get an apple to eat (you can’t eat inside) on the way to my car I passed two ladies on the path, on reflection I think they were staff members who probably watched me going to the car and reported such so as I got the fine, if they had said “excuse me but do you realise……. I would have thanked them and immediately moved my car.
All the people that use the library services are customers, no customers no library, it is agreed the vehicle took up a staff parking spot, surely an announcement over their P. A.would have been good customer service, I have never ever parked illegally whilst visiting the library hundreds of times, NEVER…and wonder what motivated someone to contact a parking officer instead of simply announcing over a P. A…. What have we become, the GOTCHA generation, I appreciate the work within the library as whilst sitting there reading I observe how busy staff can be BUT…need I say more, people do make mistakes, I did $111 worth for Visiting the library that I as a rate payer pay for, sad really, I write so as either the signage improves and or anyone ignoring this by parking is at the very least given the opportunity to move their car as they are most likely a customer in the immediate area.
My complaint is on the presumption that a parking officer never just happened to pass bye therefore a staff member of the library didn’t attempt to rectify the situation before ringing the council, if I am wrong then I apologise and if not then true customer service includes not presuming someone had the wrong intention especially as other vacant car spots were available at the time!
For the second time in a row I found I couldn't concentrate on my reading due to noisy patrons and had to leave. Libraries should be quiet places.
Very badly organised tie dye session. Parents also are just absolutely rude. A lot of people were waiting before the session opened…and they would only allow 8 kids in which is understandable. But the ones who came late were the first one in and happened to be a group of about 6! So a huge queue has built up and we are all waiting here in a very enclosed space with a lot of kids coughing their lungs out! Really great if someone is covid positive! Another mum had gone in with her 2 kids…so basically just pushed in and was allowed in. Maybe for sessions like this you might want to consider a ticketing system like other libraries do so that people who are first do not end up being last.
Such a lovely library. It has a great selection of books, DVDs, magazines and we love the separate children's area.
Ordered several Family Book Bundles during lockdowns. Staff always carefully selected books according to our interests. Two staff members even wrote an email back to my son after receiving an email about what he was wanting in terms of genre etc. My son (9 years) was delighted to receive this email and pick up his fantastic selection of books. He is already a book worm so staff have furthered nurtured his love of reading. The attention and customer service at Eltham Library exceeds our expectations. Thank you to all the staff.:)
Whilst trying to take our daughter out of the library we were loudly told off by one staff member for our 2yo making too much noise. We were already dealing with the 2yo and being rudely told off did not help (other than to cause her to cry even more). We left immediately. I work with libraries regularly.most staff seem nice here but some more training required for their younger members.
The architecture of this library is amazing.also a wonderful art display at the entrance that changes periodically.
Love this library for both studying and picking up books to read! Have a great selection of books too and highly recommend!
Amazing place with so many great books and events for kids and the staff are lovely.
5 stars would reccomend
Friendly Library with helpful staff and community members willing to help with any information. Wide variety of Publications and Media on location, with the ability to request off-site items be brought to location. A nice Quiet relaxing Library, with a beautiful picturesque tranquil scene out the windows if you look that way.
New books and magazines available. No newspapers. New wiz bang terminals to check out borrowings - easy to work.
Lovely acccessable library with great staff. For older people it would be nice if dvd's etc.could be stacked flat so not on there edge which makes reading titles difficult.
Beautiful library with cafe (Teapot Cafe) & public local artist display attached to the building. Very tranquil setting with a nice park opposite the library.
Best library for little ones in terms of their story and singing times. Roslyn is so enthusiastic and the singing times have prepared my girl for kinder and school so well. The crafts during the pre-school times are great too. I often use the online service to place holds on books, then they sms me as soon as the books are available - just awesome! I've stopped needing to buy books and I read so much more than I did last year. Thank you so much to every librarian and staff member!
